Walked in today to order some food for my boss and me. Ordered an iced coffee and gave the short Mexican lady the order slip written down for the order. While they where out of an item witch is fine going at 11 close to mid day. I got the wrong items witch where listed a hot coffee vs an ice coffee then the wrong amount of change witch I had to wait for after another customer who was behind me and came in and payed while they got there change right away. The lady was rude and unhelpful and looked like she didn't want to be there, making me not want to be there or deal with her shit. Would rather not go back there after shit customer service and getting the wrong items from a lack of detail, simple things ya know?. read more

These donuts are the bastard love children of the Krispy Kreme and Dunkin donuts... Both delicious, sweet, and fluffy these amazingly soft pillows of confectionary wonder are incredible and the perfect compliment to coffee, juice, mornings, afternoon, bat mitzvahs, breathing, or even just sitting on a couch thinking about life. I'm not a huge fan of the hot dog things but that isn't enough reason not to return. read more

The donuts are fresh and tasty (what donuts aren't?) but the sausage in the kolaches is very salty and the bread is more like a hot dog bun - super fluffy and bland. Counter service is marginal - go thru the drive-thru if you can. When I asked the lady if they had coconut donuts she merely turned and pointed at the donut case. Not polite, nor remotely friendly. I like their donuts, delicious, moist with plenty of honey glaze, but today I went thru the drive-thru around noon, it is March 22, 2020 and the Covid 19 is rampant. The store is closed because of the virus, only the drive thru is opened. My donuts are handed to me in a bag and I see the server is bare-handed. I ask, no gloves? She grins and shrugs her shoulders. I'm afraid she has taken the donuts out of the case with bare hands too. How dangerous is that? I notified the owner thru the contact option on their website and no response. I should call the board of health as there is a serious pandemic across the globe caused by contact with someone carrying the virus and often they do not have symptoms and don't know they are a carrier and she is handling donuts with no concern for the public health. The four star review is due to two factors: 1. The convenience of a drive thru window. Not the usual for a donut store and makes it (too) easy to order the... 2. Best Kolaches in Austin. Easily. The sweet bread, right kind of sausage link, and melted American cheese. Bomb.com. If you get em fresh, they are a 10/10. Later edit: I guess I should've clarified. This place is just horrid. Service is non existent. Go through order iced coffee , they have no ice. Order 4 donuts and 2 kolaches and get 4 donuts and not tne flavors we ordered. Go back in and they accuse us of trying to steal kolaches. Yeah im not that hard up. No customer service here at all. All 3 ladies working look like they hate their lives so maybe they should quit if they can't even get a donut order correct. read more

I'm sad that Shipley's donuts doesn't serve in California(or does it?). It's one of the things I miss about being in Austin. Love love love their donuts! Especially the glazed, cinnamon sugar coated and the chocolate coated ones. These accounted for such a wonderful snack. I have to admit, it's probably my favorite donut place simply because of proximity to my house. I think the staff are really nice and fast. I love the donuts - they are not too "bready" like some other Shipley's I've been too. My fave is the powdered sugar cake donut. They have several types of kolaches which are pretty good (more bread than filling than other kolache places). The sausage-cheese-jalepeno one is actually quite spicy! They carry "Big Earl" sausage kolaches - I don't know, he was some football player who turned sausage maker? - but I don't find those as good, but that's my personal preference. It's fun to go and sit there - there are a lot of families with small kids who go on a Sat or Sunday morning and it's amusing to watch them. Shipley's has always been my favorite spot for donuts and kolaches. I'm so happy this location is here, with a drive thru no less! I don't know what's up with people saying the kolaches aren't good here, I think they're awesome. The only bummer about this location is that they used to have this really good, ridiculously sweet flavored iced coffee and last time I went the girl had no idea what i was talking about, so I assume they don't have it anymore. I got a blueberry glazed and a cinnamon roll, as per my usual. Both were good, but the cinnamon roll in particular blew my socks off, it was downright perfect. You can't go wrong with Shipley's. The West Anderson location has always provided good service and not too long of a wait in the drive thru. If it's more than a few cars long I just pop inside and it only takes a couple of minutes. My favorite is their strawberry glazed donut: it's great, not too sweet and not too greasy. I love the donut holes as well. They do have a minimum purchase to use a credit card so save your spare dollars for this place read more

I was hungry and cold hoping for warm kolachies and donuts to warm me. Got a sausage and cheese kolache and a Devils food donut. I'm so disappointed. The ladies weren't super nice and I understand they've been up early but I walked up and got "what would you like?" No smile or good morning, nothing. Secondly my kolache was barely warm! Plus she messed up and gave me one with a jalapeño in it. The whole thing was gross and the sausage was some tiny hot dog. So it was a bunch of bread, tiny hot dog, minimal clumpy cheese and a gross jalapeño slice. Next my donut was ice cold! I love warm donuts and this thing is colder than the wind outside. Let me first say, that I am from Houston. I was raised on Shipley donuts. I LOVE a GOOD Shipley's donut. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed by the Austin Shipley's. After 3 attempts, it sadly falls to the bottom of my donut list for Austin. My 2 biggest complaints are: 1. The Houston Shipley's cooks the donuts fresh at different times through the day. This means that the donuts are usually nice and hot. It makes a HUGE difference. 2. The service has been hit or miss. We were just there today. I think there were like 6 employees and only one guy sitting in the store. We walked in and nobody even looked at us. Very odd. I will just have to go back to getting my Shipley's fix when I am in H-town. read more

So, haven't been to this location in a good while but recently got transferred back up north for work. Went to grab a few kolaches and donuts for me and another guy here at work. Aside from the kolaches and glazed donuts I ordered a "glazed chocolate cake donut". I was given a chocolate iced donut. I told her that's not what I asked for. She threw a cake donut in there with chocolate icing in the bag. Both times she never thought to ask "is this what you're wanting?" I told her again what I wanted and she said "Oh, that's not a chocolate cake. It's a donut." She gave me my "glazed chocolate cake donut" and I was on my way but they were all laughing as I was pulling away. read more

I rarely eat donuts, and to me they are all the same. I just moved and I had driven by this place a few times and I finally broke down yesterday and had some for breakfast. The place is clean and the display is great, and made it hard to decide. There were two people working there, an older lady with an unfriendly face and demeanor and a younger guy who was taking her barking orders. He seemed like he would be more personable if she wasn't around. She seemed annoyed that we were taking a while to make our selections. We weren't even taking very long and there wasn't anyone else in the joint other than a young couple who had come in before us and only ordered coffee. All in all she made us feel rushed, and she was unfriendly. We bought three donuts and she packaged them all in their own individual bag, which i thought was weird and and unnecessary waste of paper. We paid three dollars for three donuts and I left feeling like we overpaid. Aren't donuts supposed to be like 50 or 75 cents? The good news was the donuts were yummy. My boyfriend got a "tall boy" which is a long rectangle covered in chocolate with a cream filling, kinda gross but he liked it. I got a "coffee cakey" type donut with a cinnamony-sugar coating that was really good, and we shared a Raspberry filled and that was also yummy. Good Donuts, bad attitude! read more

The donuts are okay. Maybe it's because I don't get them real early in the morning when they're fresh, but they're decent. On the other hand, the kolaches with country sauce, egg, and cheese are what keeps me coming back every time.
