I'm not sure who the new owner(s) of Shiny Nails on Fry Rd are, but the quality of service has definitely changed. Not only are the services poor, but the décor also looks tired and outdated. I initially requested an acrylic overlay to protect my natural nails while on vacation. The nail tech filed my natural nails down so much that they ended up in a boxy, square shape. When I tried to explain that this was not what I wanted, they acted as though they didn't understand--language barrier! My nails look horrible; I've never had an experience like this before. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

Had a million dollar pedicure and massage by Kathy today. If I had it , she is very much worth it. Extremely clean and careful. I have problem feet and toes, and Shiny nails always make them feel so much better. I'd rather have a pedicure here, than going to the podiatrist. Great job!! read more

This has been my go to salon for years but the new employees they've hired have cut me twice now. I told her she cut me and she said I was sensitive and laughed about it. No apology or anything. I can't speak for the whole establishment because I've only been here once but I went after going to another nail shop in cypress just 4 days prior. My nails were already lifting and it was a fresh set. All I can say is ask for Eva if you are getting acrylic. She did an amazing job on my fill. read more

I have came here a few times and they do a pretty good job but they are super slow. I literally spend at least 3 hours everytime, no matter if it's just a simple full set. I am not sure why they move so slow but this is the main reason I have not been back because I cannot sit there for hours especially if I can go someone else and be done in an hour. read more

I am really upset. I will not be returning. I come here often to do my mani and pedi. Today I went and I told the lady that I wanted to do the mani and pedi. I picked the powder color for my nails and I said I just wanted regular nail polish for my toes and she said okay. As she kept going, she brought out the light and I know that's for shellac gel...I said again is this just regular nail polish gel and she said yes...I knew it wasn't. I got the register and she told me the price and I was like I told her I did not want the shellac & that the lady did not understand me. Ugh, I really get upset when I'm trying to explain myself but because of the language Barrier they don't understand but I clearly said no . I did not wait not to pay for something I did not want...instead of making a scene, I will not be coming back. Please do better. read more

I typically come here and I love it and I'm not someone who likes to complain. However, today I was very disappointed. The shellac manicure was awful. I requested a very simple design with a thin line and three small dots as the sample on the last picture, and the pictures show what I got. The polish was not done nicely on the edges. I did not have time to stay to get it fixed but I did let one of the ladies know and I showed her. I don't ask for perfection but for the amount of money we pay to get nails done, I do expect to have a decent job. read more

Been twice, had a good experience the first time and a horrible at the second visit. So I'm rating it a 3 to split the difference. The first time I was with my sister and was treated well and my nails came out good. This second time I was rushed, and not because everyone was being rushed, but me specifically. I got the second highest priced pedicure but they rushed me to the manicurist well before people who had been there before me. The manicurist was unpleasant and rude, and she did the worst paint job I've ever had. I visited this place last Saturday for a refill. Everyone was so nice! Customer service was on point! They gave me grapes and immediately asked if I wanted anything to drink. They offered me a pillow for my back when I was getting my nails done and everything. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the quality of my nails. I received a refill on a powder set. They aren't terrible, but they are extremely bumpy. He had to put a clear powder on top of the nails because the pink glitter would come off when filing. Which is fine, but he spent so much time originally with filing down of my old nails and adding the pink glitter, I guess he was tired and decided not to file down the clear powder. Or maybe it was due to the group of people who came in after me so he felt rushed..IDK but my nails are bumpy. Also, when he added the clear gel I lost the coffin shape. I had been there so long, when he "finished" I didn't bother asking for it to be fixed. It was $30 for my refill. My original set at my usual salon was $40. read more

Kathy worked on my nails which I did a soak off and by Helen's recommendation tried dipping powder for the first time with gel polish. Loved how my nails turned out. My natural nails were filed perfectly and not too thick. They have a variety of gel colors and I got the Bioseeweed gel color. Totally loved my experience here. Ambience is very nice and clean. I visited this place when I was visiting my father for the holidays. I went the day after Thanksgiving. I would say the only downside was they were late opening but not by that much, I believe 10 minutes. Well I was the only one there because the other young lady left because the particular person she wanted didn't work that day. I had a wonder experience I got an acrylic fill and basic pedicure. They tagged teamed me, one lady did my pedicure and when the other lady came in she started on my fill right in the pedicure chair. That really cut down on time. This place needs to regroup and try it again. I came here on a Wednesday night with my mother in law and you would think that all will be well.... I mean it's Wednesday for goodness sake!! We were greeted by someone who walked out of the back while eating a kolache. I asked for the special that is posted their window and I was immediately told that I couldn't get the special because it's only valid Monday through Wednesday......did I mention that I came in on a Wednesday . So we were told to pick a color and then have a seat. The water was lukewarm at best and the massage seats were not even plugged in. There were only two workers when we arrived and one worker was already taking care of a guest. So after I sat in the water.... cold by this point.... in walks another worker. She immediately started working on me. Then I was told that the special didn't include any of the additional items like sugar scrub. I politely said that it was fine. I just wanted the freaking pedicure. The lady who worked on my mother in law looked at the pedicure menu throughout the entire pedicure. So I asked her how long as this placed been open. She replied that they have been open for 3 months. Now by this time 4 more guests are here and there are no nail techs available to help them. Also don't come here if you are expecting a relaxing environment as these ladies talk to each other the entire time!!!! The special wasn't worth the headache, so sadly I will not return to this shop. read more

Le, the manager, is very sweet and always walks around asking the customers if they are comfortable or would like something to drink. Came to this place because my usual place was closed, normally I just get the basic pedicure but I opted to get the one above which was $10 more which include some orange salt and longer massage which is really what I came more (a nice foot rub because I'm far into my pregnancy). The relaxing part felt rushed and the massage was short and she only massages my legs and toes....not my actual FOOT which confused me.
