We visit this place on 6/17/2020, what a wonderful surprised, I yelped plant based foods and got this place. My wife and I had to order takeout, but luckily they had tables outside to eat. The line wasn't long at all to order and the gentleman who took order was too friendly, but's it's okay. I got the black bean taco, and it wasn't what I expected. It's one big taco open face, meaning one tortilla on the bottom and everything on the top. People don't get me wrong, it was very delicious, especially the creamy cilantro dressing. Would I get it again? Maybe! My wife on the other hand got the Vegetable Spring Roll, 3 for $10. What a great deal, very delicious, their sauce was yummy!! This is recommended over and over on their yelp that's why she got it. Lastly we got the Pina Maca-lada and the Island Fever. Recommend the Pina Maca-lada, and my wife said the Island fever was too orange favor for her. I found out that they own the grocery store too next door which is really cool. What a delightful all vegan cafe! On vacation in Morro Bay and ate there 3 times. Loved the Reuben Sandwich with Creamy Chipolte dressing, the Sunday pancake and tempeh, Acai Dragonfruit smoothie . Top of my list of places to eat in Morro Bay is this place. Tons of choices, all vegan all the time. On this visit, I had the Shine Wrap, which is a delicious wrap made with Shine's housemade hummus, kalamata olives, fresh veggies including baby arugala, all topped off with a roasted garlic vinaigrette and rolled up in a spinach & whole wheat tortilla and served with a side salad and house dressing. (I thought I'd taken a pic but I can't find it so I must have only thought I took a photo :D) Their menu is extensive and has enough variety that I could probably eat here every day for a week and not have the same thing twice! An awesome little gem on the Central Coast! It's a small space that pretty much screams beachy hippie vibes... and I love it. Up front, they've got a juice bar to provide you with all of your liquid fruit and veggie needs, but they also serve fabulous lunches (and brunch on the weekend!). You order at the counter here and then wait for the deliciousness to be brought out to you. The menu is all vegan. Not out-of-control large, but definitely a good amount of choices. I ordered the famous tempeh taco (idk who decided it's famous or where, but it should be, so it's fine). I was a little hesitant at first because one taco did not sound filling, but that's very misleading. What you get is a plate packed high and to the edges with greens, and then somewhere below, if you search long and hard enough, you'll find that taco. It was so good, but it was actually so much that I couldn't finish it! The prices here are extremely reasonable - that enormous plate was just $9. My friend got the TLT (tempeh, lettuce tomato) and that looked great too. Shine Cafe is basically the reason I come out to Morro Bay... and I think I'll keep on coming! read more

The very best tempeh I've had in my life. This place is so good that I deeply regret not getting extra dishes to take home. I had the TLT (tempeh, lettuce, tomato), the vegan take on BLT. We wanted something different and this was a great choice. Healthy food options, creative dishes, and lots to choose from. The place itself is sunken just below the street level so it has this hobbit kind of feel. It's not small inside by anymeans but it does give the place a hidey-hole feel that is cool. Several tables inside provide a decent amount of seating. Order at the counter and they'll bring you your food. I saw pictures of the spring rolls and knew we had to try them. We LOVE this place! Dairy Free heaven if you have allergies!!! Everything we'e tried from tacos to pancakes to coffe and smoothies are delicious! Very hard to find any soy-free options here. Super disappointing because they base the majority of their sauces is a soy-based veganase. Also, they can really use a tech upgrade as only one person was working the register, and due to covid it's at the door to the cafe. This was such a great find! Things felt like they were made to be healthy, and didn't feel gross and bloated like you usually do after eating bad food at a brunch place. The jackfruit tacos were just... amazing. They were SO flavorful. The only thing is that they were small, definitely get one for yourself. I shared and really wish I hadn't LOL! The pancakes were also really good. They weren't too soft - which personally I like when pancakes are a little more firm. The fruits were well cooked inside the pancakes instead of just laid on top. The bomb bagel was not good. Would not order again. Other options were much better. However I'm still giving 5 stars because everything else was amazing. En route back to the Madonna Inn I was famished. My breakfast earlier was meager, especially after the energy I expelled traipsing about Hearst Castle like a giddy lad. Yelp research said a tiny health food store in the land of Morro Bay had a cafe that would suit my vegan needs. Word had the tempeh tacos were to die for and I was soothed by the news, tempeh is my favorite incarnation of soy. I burst in demanding tacos with a quickness but instead was greeted with the tragic news that Sundays they do not provide the full menu... WHAT? I was aghast. I'm borderline Somalia level starving here and had been fantasizing about these tacos for an hour. The two brothers behind the counter passed me their apologies, evidently that's just the way of the hours here. I cried, feeling my stomach cave to the enzymes tossing around naught but some leftover fragments of almond. "Well, we have some pretty good salads going on, made up with items fresh from the farmers market." *wipes away tears on sleeve, dabs at snot dripping nose* "... what kind of salad..." "An avocado olive nut pâté, persimmons, some pineapple guavas, pink radishes, dried olives..." the list went on, capped with a homemade vinaigrette. *pretends he wasn't crying and merely had dust in his eyes* "Yea, hah. No problem, I didn't want tacos anyway.. We'll take two of these salads to go." Check my attached salad photo, it was like eating a salad prepared from the vegetable gardens of Zeus himself. Washed down with kombucha I hadn't felt this satisfied by a salad EVER. I do wish I'd snagged the tacos, who knows when I'll be back in Morro Bay. Truth be told I don't even know where Morro Bay IS. But now I'll recall this salad fondly when contemplating a salad for a full meal. "Can't you just have a salad for dinner you vegan you?" Previously I'd tear into the speaker with words like cold steel, snapping "Just because I'm vegan doesn't mean I want to eat a pile of raw greens for dinner you ass." So many tourist spots, even in places like Santa Barbara, are vegan deserts with no vegan desserts. My wife and I were so pleased to find this gem. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table, both inside and outside at the sidewalk tables. Seating is limited so you may have to wait for a table to open up or you can get your meal to go. Ambiance is very casual, typical of a vegan restaurant.
