OMG! This place is awesome! You don't have to be vegan to enjoy the food here, just open to new experiences that will blow you palate away. The staff is nice and helpful and the food is always super fresh. The specials are never a dissapointment. I had the most amazing hummus wrap here last week. The veggie spring rolls are amazing and absolutely beautiful too. The portions here are large, you never leave hungry. They are actually a bit too large for me at times (beware getting more than one tempeh taco) but I love having the left over later. The seating area is a bit small but they are changing locations this week so I'm hoping that the new location will accommodate more people. read more

Regardless of whether or not you are vegan, shine café has delicious food which will delight your taste buds, fill you up, and make you feel good about eating it. There black bean tostada is out of this world, so good that I ate it two days in a row. Go hungry, and take advantage of the full menu. Do yourself a favor and splurge on a smoothie, entrée, and dessert. It's worth it! I was looking for a healthy alternative for lunch and found Shine Cafe. The spring rolls were great, although a little messy as they fall apart when eating. The kids menu burrito was a huge portion, and left plenty to share. They manage to pack a ton of flavor in everything they make here. My toddler loved the fresh juices. read more

This is the best vegan cafe I have been to in my 4 years of being vegan. Do not leave without trying a dish that is made with their famous tempeh (the tempeh taco or spring rolls are my recommendation for sure) and if you can choose a dressing choose the creamy cilantro. I wish I knew about this place sooner, I missed it for so many years when we travel here! Its a little hole in the wall, but everything is excellent and Im not a Vegan. I came from Cambria to eat here twice, and ran into others from Cambria who were there ordering their meal also. I had the Jack Fruit tacos(those were awesome!) and my fave was the Black Bean Tostada. Mmmm! Such wonderful food, generous serving and always a wonderful presentation of the dish when eating there. Oh Shine, how I love the way you prepare your tempeh. Whenever I make it up to morro bay, I try to stop in. The Reuben is my favorite and I have a difficult time not ordering it when I'm there, simply perfection. The quality of the ingredients are outstanding and vibrant. Typically, they have a special of the day. I advise trying their biscuits and gravy should you ever see it written on the board. They also have a creative soup of the day selection that never fails to impress me. My only small qualm is that I wish the staff were more friendly. Fantastic food, nice atmosphere (very open and airy) and good service, if you are ok with serving yourself. First time here and decided to come based on the yelp reviews. Tempe Reuben was very good, as was the black bean taco. Prices definitely reasonable (about $10 for an entree) and portions were good sized, even for big folks like us. We are not vegetarians, but do enjoy a well prepared meatless meal. This definitely exceeded our expectations. Try it and enjoy. read more

Loved the strawberry lemonade detox. It is so tart and acidic, but refreshing and addictive. When their busy it's a little slow to get your meal, but worth the wait since it is prepared fresh and it is a hardy size. read more

We have eaten here multiple times. The quinoa build it yourself bowls are excellent for gluten free folks. Very healthy food. The Acai bowls are okay but I prefer the ones up the street. My partner and I had a really wholesome and healthy lunch at Shine today. We shared the soup, which was African chickpea and peanut plus salad, and the hummus wrap. Both were so refreshing and flavoursome! This is my favorite place to eat in Morro Bay. Being walking distance from where I live I like to stroll down often. They have a great vibrant menu and everything is consistently delicious. As far as smoothies go, the mudslide with almond butter is the best! Five Stars all the way! So many good things to say about this side-by-side grocery store and cafe. My partner and I were on a Central Coast road trip from SF to LA and were needing something other than fish n chips and fancy food. I found this vegan cafe via web sleuthing and thought their jackfruit tacos sounded amazing. Set on a charming street in Morrow Bay, the cafe is light, bright, and airy and the menu variety is amazing. We settled on the Bomb Bagels but the salads I saw others eating were huge, and their variety of dressings looked delicious and amazing. The service was fast and efficient, and everyone was so nice. I popped into the grocery store for a quick look around and found it carries an amazing variety of excellent vegan products, resembling my favorite 'hippy' grocery store on Maui, Mana Foods. The three gentlemen staffing the store were friendly and kind. Cut to the chase, our food was delicious, and then we were off to San Louis Obispo. It was then I realized I'd left my purse with all my money, cards, ID and eyeglasses on the back of my chair while dining outside on the sidewalk. I called the Cafe just as they were closing and they said they had my purse and would leave it at the adjacent store. Halleluja! The same kind guys were behind the counter and handed over my purse with everything in it, my cards, my cash, my wallet, my glasses! I don't know who actually found my wallet, but needless to say good people, good karma, good food, go give them your business, this store and cafe is legit! All I can say is keep your eyes on the mail guys, cause a reward is coming your way. read more

Came back to this place after a few years break to see if the service was faster than 45 mins for a salad. Pleased to find it IS so much faster and you won my heart back. Only thing that wasn't stellar is the heavy metal and hard rock with super whiny guitar playing; def not the best vibe for a vegan food spot. This place is bomb. I'm not even vegan or vegetarian and this is still one of my favorite places in Morro Bay. The only downside is that it's not a good place to come to if you're at all in a hurry. They're typically pretty slow, but my guess is that's because they're always so busy because their food is so good! Their juices are fantastic as well. I have never made a review on yelp before so the fact that I am right now must really mean I loved this place. The staff was so friendly, as they were willing to answer all my questions about what was inside the sauces and stuff. They gave me great advice on what their opinions were on each dish and what they preferred and why they preferred it. I asked a lot of questions because I only recently became a vegan and they were so patient, which I appreciated the most. The food was also DELICIOUS. I ordered the build a bowl with the seasoned tempeh and it was to die for. It was so good I got it again the next day for lunch AND dinner (expect I got it with jackfruit too!). The seasoning on both the jackfruit and tempeh were great. I definitely recommend this place for anyone, vegan or not. The tempeh is amazing as well as the carnitas jackfruit. read more

I am vegan. I should love this place, right?? Maybe I am ordering the wrong thing, but I've had far better tofu scrambles at non-vegan specific places. Both times I've ordered this for breakfast (they only have around four/five breakfast options) it's been cold. Let's start with that. The meal consists heavily of potatoes, very little tofu, and barely any other vegetables. I've gone out of my way two times to come here for the vegan food and sorry to say it is not good. Additionally, they forgot my husbands bagel and he had to ask for it not once, not twice, but three times. When it arrived, it wasn't even toasted. Please, we need more vegan friendly joints around but re evaluate the menu and the lack-luster staff. read more
