Grabbed my shovel and started following the water and about four foot down found the water line that was leaking. Over the next 24 hours I made four trips to HD and two trips to Lowes trying to get the fittings and pipe I need to repair it and finally cobbled something together about ten PM at night but it was a kludgy fix and only lasted for about 30 minutes before it sprang a leak too. The next morning I started searching on internet for one inch CPVC pipe which is what I needed to make a proper repair. Both Lowes and Home Depot websites said they had it but I was at one HD and two Lowes and none of them had ANY CPVC pipe. Internet said Handy Ace Hardware had some so I drove there. It is not a huge place (from the outside) but inside it is packed with tall shelving units, closely spaced, and together with the walls has much more stock and most importantly SELECTION than most HD or Lws!! Walked out of Handy Ace about 30 minutes later with a 10 foot length of 1" CVPC pipe and several right angle fittings and couplers and headed home to make the proper (and final) repair. This is a classic hardware store like the best ones I remember from years back before the big box stores forced most of them out of business. Yes, they are not cheap, but not horribly expensive either and had I gotten to Handy the evening before my water main leak ordeal would have been much shorter and less frustrating. That would have been work a LOT!!

That's a significant savings, especially if I were to take her advice and buy the $50 gallon paints, which I wasn't about to do -- but still. When I returned and confirmed that indeed there was a 40% sale going on, I selected my colors and explained that I needed 3 gallons of Ovation, two in satin and one in semi-gloss. The clerk (a different one this time) happily mixed my paint and proceeded to ring me up. When he announced the total, I told him that it seemed on the high side. He looked at the register slash computer and then told me that the sale did not extend to the Ovation paint, i.e. the cheap paint. I did some quick math in my head and determined that at 40% off, I could have selected a higher quality paint and paid only slightly more than I would have paid for non-discounted cheap paint. Granted, I found it a bit gimmicky that the clerk would wait until after I had asked about the sale and after he had mixed the paint to tell me about the exception to the rule, but no matter. I said, "In that case, I might need you to mix that in a different base," and I turned around to go make another choice. He was quick to suggest another option. "Let me see if I can make this work," he said. Already, I appreciated his business sense. He fumbled through some barcoded coupons and managed to ring me up for 40% off. Then I showed him my $10-off purchase of $50 or more. This flustered him, but again he compromised by saying he wouldn't charge me for one of the gallons. At this point, I had stopped trying to keep up with the math and accepted his offer as a sensible compromise. Admittedly, at this point, I would have gladly walked away and rated this place 5 stars. But then I went home and painted. Here's where the disappointment comes in. I don't mean I was disappointed with my painting. A guy who opts for the cheapest paint choice is content with his own mediocre painting skills. It's just that after I was two days into the project, it was obvious the paint labeled semi-gloss wasn't semi-gloss. Not only was it not semi-gloss, but I still look at the paint and think it's flatter than the satin sheen paint I ordered. Maybe the cheapest paint makes for an unpredictable base. I don't know. It was the right color but the wrong finish. Now my trim is flatter than the walls. Like I said, my painting skills are subpar and I don't foresee getting out a ladder and brushes and whatnot. I'll deal with it, but I'm still disappointed. All in all, very friendly staff that tries to be accommodating. Just be mindful of what you walk out of the store with. In the meantime, I've unsubscribed from the numerous emails the company sends out once you join their rewards program. Probably will go back to Home Depot or Lowe's after this.

In addition, he is highly litigious. For poor quality work he demands full payment and will immediate sue rather than correcting work or offering higher quality resources to rectify poor quality. On Scoping: While he promises a "high quality finish in his statements of work, he is vague on what work is scoped and leverages that vague language to claim that work has been satisfactorily completed. On Material Selection He lacks the expertise to select the correct paint for job. For instance he used a matte paint on doors and molding, which is not best practices. If you choose this vendor, you need to inspect all material brought into your house to validate they are using correct material. On Prep Work While his statement of work said all staircases would be covered, they were not. This has resulted in needing to have runners on stairs replaced. His team also fails to properly tape and cover stained wood surfaces. I am currently scoping several thousand dollars of work to have wooden doors and floors sanded and re-stained due to their poor prep work. On overall quality Vendor missed many areas, there was paint destined for floor boards and molding that ended up on walls, missed spots, and drip marks. In addition, his team paints over sanded areas, meaning all surfaces will need to be re-sanded, primed, and repainted On timelines His teams move quickly to the detriment of quality. It was inextricable that prepping and applying 2 quotes would be done in under two days. On customer satisfaction His team doing the work are hard to communicate with and if there are issues both his team and himself are combative with home owners. I would never trust him or his team to be in your home with your wife or children without you present. In addition, rather than doing quality work he would rather sue
