The water line between the street and my house sprung a leak that I discovered about 3PM in the afternoon. Grabbed my shovel and started following the water and about four foot down found the water line that was leaking. Over the next 24 hours I made four trips to HD and two trips to Lowes trying to get the fittings and pipe I need to repair it and finally cobbled something together about ten PM at night but it was a kludgy fix and only lasted for about 30 minutes before it sprang a leak too. The next morning I started searching on internet for one inch CPVC pipe which is what I needed to make a proper repair. Both Lowes and Home Depot websites said they had it but I was at one HD and two Lowes and none of them had ANY CPVC pipe. Internet said Handy Ace Hardware had some so I drove there. It is not a huge place (from the outside) but inside it is packed with tall shelving units, closely spaced, and together with the walls has much more stock and most importantly SELECTION than most HD or Lws!! Walked out of Handy Ace about 30 minutes later with a 10 foot length of 1" CVPC pipe and several right angle fittings and couplers and headed home to make the proper (and final) repair. This is a classic hardware store like the best ones I remember from years back before the big box stores forced most of them out of business. Yes, they are not cheap, but not horribly expensive either and had I gotten to Handy the evening before my water main leak ordeal would have been much shorter and less frustrating. Well since Yelp asked me, I love going to Ace Hardware in Dacula! It has the old fashion look that I like, and its small enough to navigate, unlike the giant box stores. Todd is the manager there, he is always ready to help, and he knows the store top to bottom, Todd could probably walk the entire store blindfolded. Honestly, there is a young, tall kid that works there, he is nice, but he asks me "can I help you find something?", I say no, then I turn around and he is still standing there and asks "can I help you find something?". And then that kind of continues, finally after about five or six times, I just tell him that I dont want any help, because even though he is a nice kid, he kind of becomes overbearing, as if he wants me to leave or something. But overall, the store is organized, they carry a lot of smaller plumbing, knife, and adhesive items that you cant find anywhere else. So I love the store here in Dacula, and I will continue to shop there. Very convenient and well organized. Everyone knows you pay a little bit more at ACE hardware, but its well worth the money for the service you receive and the quality of what they sell. I would recommend that the store clean out the little knife shop completely, clean it out totally, then update it with fresh paint, fresh countertops, and fresh carpet, and then turn that into a section devoted solely to home security and surveillance products such as ring, nest, etc..etc... because that business is booming big time. If that little knife shop was converted into a state of the art surveillance room, and they carried every little motion detector, accessory, and camera available, then that would start paying super dividends. Since I am in the surveillance and security industry, I can tell you there is a ton of money to be made. And the market is only getting bigger and bigger. Also, ACE can work it out so that they get a piece of the action on the back end, meaning that when customers pay their yearly amount for Ring service, or whoever the service provider is, Ring gets a percentage of the re-occurring fees. Then before you know it, That builds up really big, and really fast!! I would certainly buy a lot of cameras from there if they did that. read more

I was surprised going in to this store. I normally go to Home Depot to pick up most of the things I need especially when it's time for me to change filters for my heating and air. I just happened to check to see if they carried what I needed and they did. So that pretty much saved me about 8 miles of driving when I can get to Ace in 10 mins or less. read more

In a pinch this place is fine. They are semi close to our home and they have a lot of variety. Was turned off when we tried to return something we never used and were accused off using it, even though it was in one of those plastic packages you cant open without cutting it apart but they did allow is to return it. read more

Horrible! Worst Ace Hardware I have ever been too. Unfriendly staff, rude clerk. Disorganized and filthy. Products not priced or on the wrong shelves. Products on the floor. I stepped on screws and fasteners that were littered in the aisle. Products were dirty and shelves covered in dust. Filthy cats walking all over the store. Way over priced compared to other hardware stores. I will gladly take my business to the Ace hardware in Winder, GA. read more

I am a Dacula resident and I have used Handy Ace since they opened. Today I went by to try to find a part to fix my A/C. I purchased a 1 pole 30 AMP Contactor Switch at around noon. I came directly home. I spoke with a friend who told me how to test the switch with a volt meter. I was able to pin point the issue on the low voltage side and did not need the Contactor Switch. I had taken the switch out of the box but never installed it. I Returned to Handy Ace at 430 and spoke with the salesman who helped me, he was glade that I had been able to fix it and said just return the part.I needed a new air filter for the AC so I left the switch at the counter and pick out the filter i needed. Upon my return the clerk advised the part was used and could not be returned. I spoke with the manager and he pointed out a scratch on the connection plug as if to indicate I had use the switch. I assured him it was unused and I had no reason to lie about it.He told me point blank that is what everybody says. I have spent 20 years in public service and frequented this Handy Ace regularly for hardware needs. I was treated like a lair for trying to return a part I did not need or use.I left the switch with the salesman who originally helped me, I hope that 19.99 switch was worth it the 2 filters i was about to buy were 28.00. They always seem to have what I need. They went above and beyond to replace a pair of defective boots that I bought there. Someone is always there to answer a question when needed. The prices may be slightly higher than the box stores in the area, but I don't have to walk a half mile to get in the store and wait 15 minutes in line. I know that they have those hard to find items in stock, and I don't have to deal with those guys in funny looking aprons. read more

Discovered this store as a drive by and stopped in. Wow, impressed at the size of their inventory (much larger than it looks from the street). They even have a separate room for firearms. Extremely friendly staff and very helpful. I will be going to this Ace Hardware store in loo of Home Depot from now on. I've been to this Ace Hardware twice and both times I've been followed by several of the employees. They don't follow anyone else in the store but they're always following my husband and I. I noticed it the first time my husband and I went in. It was so obvious. Every 5 minutes one of the employees would come by and ask if we needed help. Durh, if I needed help, don't you think I would've asked the employee before you? It's as if they thought we were going to steal something. It's a hardware store. Like I'm going to steal a box of nails? Seriously? It's a shame that this hatred still exists. The employees there aren't friendly and they look at you as if you're disgusting or below them. I would never recommend this Ace Hardware to anyone that I know. I will NEVER go back to this store ever again. read more

I have never written a post before but this is a very nice ACE store. Very helpful. I needed a part for my kitchen faucet. Nobody had it, no plumbing wholesale stores, no one but this ACE had it. Not only did they have it but the gentleman that helped me put the part into the kitchen handle that I brought in with me. This ACE saved me having to but an entire new faucet set. I drove 12 miles to get to this store and will be back! read more

If you buy any equipment here, the dude in the back will fix anything and help you in every way possible. Obviously not as big as some competitors, but they have most standard stuff. It's a nice mix of old school family hardware store and modern mega store. read more
