I was on a road trip when my Jetta completely died at a rest area outside Cottage Grove. While their website was inaccurate about the time they were open, I left a panicked message while waiting for the tow truck and Casey called me back to confirm that they were open and waiting for me (my Dad had also talked to him). Once we arrived, they took my car back straight away and took a look. Luckily it only ended up being a loose connection to the battery, and they DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR LOOKING AT IT!!! Casey also had an extra key cut for me while I was waiting and offered to see if there were any active recalls (all were taken care of previously). I highly recommend these guys - they were great!! read more

Thank you to Adam Colbert our salesperson! We had a wonderful experience buying our Rav4 and would definitely come back. And we received a follow-up call and personal letter to our home. Great service!! read more

We purchased our GTI 2 years ago. It was the most pleasant auto purchasing experience. No hours of negotiations. Since then we have received exceptional service of our vehicle. The service department staff is outstanding in customer service. Casey, Chase and John makes sure all of your auto service needs are tended to as well your needs during the service waiting time. They accommodate your schedule by shuttle or rent a car if needed. You always get a clean/washed car when they are finished with your service. I also want to mention Dan in the parts department. He is on top of your parts/accessories orders and let's you know as soon as they come in. I must say that their waiting area could use some improvement. It meets the need but is lacking. We recommend Sheppard's for new car sales and their service department for a delightful change for your auto needs. Keep up with the great job. read more

I LOVE Sheppard Motors! I purchased a diesel Passat from them a couple years ago and had a great "hassle free" transaction. Recently I had an accident and they have been doing the repair. They have had to deal with my insurance company, which has been frustrating, and they have kept me updated along the way. They have fought for me to get the best repair job done possible. And, when my rental insurance expired they helped me out with a loaner vehicle. I truly can't say enough good things about Casey, Chase and Chase in the service department...they have been a bright spot in a frustrating situation! read more

Had engine trouble and took my car in to my normal shop in 2011. They immediately diagnosed it as a faulty head gasket and send me to a dealer for repairs as it was still under warranty and my normal shop doesn't do warranty work. Sheppard's crew proceeds to tell me that it's actually just the spark plugs, which are considered normal maintenance (thusly not under warranty) and tells me it'll be a couple hundred bucks. Only after QUITE A bit of back-and-forth were they willing to do the basic check for coolant in the fuel that showed that it was, in fact, the head gasket. This lead to my entire engine having to be replaced. Had I listened to Sheppard's expert advice, new spark plugs would probably have gotten it running again at least for a month or two until the new plugs were also ruined by the underlying problem... At which time I would have been out of warranty and I would have been out $5K for a new engine. THANKS, GUYS! read more

I made an appointment a week ago for a recall brake switch. This item is recalled on literally millions of Hyundais. I had to drive 75 miles from my home in Roseburg through a snow storm. When I finally found the place which is difficult, they took my car in. An hour later, they hand me my keys and tell me sorry, we dont have the part. I asked where is my car? They say right out the door. I go out, look around and finally see it on the far side of the parking lot. I am pretty old and not in the greatest health. The walk to my car in the bitter cold was not pleasant nor was the entire trip there which took 2 hours. I get to my car and find the seat covered in plastic, paper on the floor and the numbered placard in the window. I appreciate that they tried to keep the car clean during service (or no service in my case) but they could remove it when they are done or at least provide a place to put it when you pull it out. They did not. A passing mechanic told seem to take it back to the office. This establishment cost me a day of my life which not so many remain, a tank of gas and a lot of stress. I will not go back. Rather I will make the farther trip to Medford next time on the hope that they are moe competent there. read more

Within our deal they agreed to replace our cracked windshield, and one of the busted side mirrors. And to give us another programmed key. The guy said he would call us when the parts came in, so we waited and waited. Finally we called him and he said they don't do that and we have to take the truck into a shop to be sure the right parts get ordered. None of the buttons on the steering wheel worked, the tow lights don't work. My key only let's me drive up to 80 miles per hour. So annoyed with this whole process like seriously what the heck. It's a 2013 F250, with 67,000 miles. You would assume buying a vehicle that new from a dealership that everything would work. Oh AND I almost forgot the worse part! We have a 7 month old baby, the truck doesn't have the clips for the car seat base so you have to use the seat belt. Perfect... After having it hooked up for a couple weeks and using it, my husband goes to take the base out and the buckle part that it clips into completely came off. It wasn't even attached! It was cut! How could you sell a vehicle with a cut seat belt!? I don't even know how it didn't come out when we originally set up the base but either way it is what it is. So mad read more

Buying from Sheppard Motors has been a nightmare. I wish I would have noticed the red flags with this dealership before it was too late. I highly regret buying from Sheppard motors and don't typically write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. BE PATIENT FIND THE SAME CAR AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND BUY FROM THEM! As I made my decision to buy my SUV from Sheppard, one of the first things the salesman said to me when doing paperwork was "before you go writing any reviews, please make sure you give us the chance to make it right with you first". As I have not gotten any response in over a month from them, here is my review. I knew I would be getting the short end of the stick trading in my brand new car (still on warranty) for an older (only by 4 years) SUV, but it was a choice I needed to make with a new baby and growing family that did not fit in my sedan. Right away they offered me half of what my brand new car was worth (blue book) and I was so offended I walked out, until they chased me down and offered a somewhat reasonable price as they should have from the start. They are extremely money hungry. I wish I hadn't turned back around. I know it was my choice doing the trade knowing I was getting the short end of the stick, but they have also completely screwed me over with my purchase in more than just one way. I don't believe they inspect their used cars properly like they should. When you test drive their vehicles, check every possible gadget on the car and don't drive on the roads they tell you to. Go on the highway. As soon as I got in my new SUV with my baby to go home I went to turn the heater on and it began making awful noises and then blew. No air or heat at all. Without heat in 37 degree weather they wouldn't offer me to take another car home, so I had to bundle up my baby in the freezing car for a week until the part they needed came. I instantly got a bad feeling about the purchase I had just made, and little did I know it was the first problem of many. Obviously still being in their lot and not even leaving their driveway yet, they made things right and fixed it. But by the time I had the vehicle for a week (took a week to deliver the part they needed) I came back for them to fix the first issue, and had many other issues with the vehicle I needed them to take care of. Note I only had it ONE WEEK. It made an awful, loud buzzing noice in the dash every time I went over 65 MPH (still does), it resets all my settings randomly every day or two, the check engine light went on and off, and the tires hadn't been balanced or aligned so it wobbled after going 50 MPH (got that fixed right away myself at Les Schwab, although that should be done by them when vehicle is inspected). They blamed the blower motor for all the extra issues and claimed that it would be fine once it was fixed and ignored actually checking the issues I explained it was having. That was complete bull crap because my car was returned with all the same issues except for my air worked again. Not only that, but when I brought the car back for the blower to be fixed, they told me that the loan I had been approved and signed for WASN'T QUITE CORRECT and surprised me with a higher APR before I left to drive back home. At that point I should have taken advantage and demanded my old car back. They are very sneaky, careless, sly, untrustworthy, and are 100% the dealership people try to warn you about. Unlike other dealerships I have happily gone through, these guys are in this business for the good of themselves and themselves only. I have had this car for almost 6 months now and when my check engine light came on two weeks after my purchase, I called and called my salesperson until I got sick of the phone tag and began texting with him about the issue. He kept putting me off until finally he stopped responding all together. even though our conversation was completely respectful. I still have the texts to show. Now here I am with an SUV loaded with issues that I traded my immaculate brand new car for. I feel stupid and robbed. Not to mention they watched me go back and fourth with them with my BABY on my side. Seeing I had the most precious cargo, they didn't care to understand how important it is for me to have a reliable vehicle. The entire experience with them has been beyond awful. I now sit here mind blown by how horrible this dealership is, with a vehicle I recently bought and cannot drive because it is only running off of 5 cylinders and throwing several other codes up. I hope this catches the attention of those looking to buy from Sheppard- for goodness sake DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I gave them the chance to help me out and was completely ignored. read more

Purchased a VW beetle several years ago but lost all but one key. Called Sheppard and they quoted $193.48 per flip key PLUS $65 programming fee! I told them I had key blanks I had purchased online. He said they don't have a machine to cut them and referred me to a locksmith. Seriously? Par for the course at Sheppard. They always try to upsell me with lots of other crappy services whenever I bring my car in for service. I just called Delon VW in Salem and the parts dept said "bring them in and there is NO CHARGE for cutting them and then a $68 programming fee". Who do you think I will be buying my next car from??? read more

The service department messed up my convertible and refused to correct the mistakes. Now I am having to pay double for the repair. My "Service advisor" was very nice until the point when I requested that their error be corrected. Will not recommend the service department at this place even to my worse enemy. I purchased a 2012 VW Jetta TDI on 7/31/2013. This review is sort of for this dealership and more for Volkswagen of America. Just over a year of owning this vehicle, it started lurching and parking lot speeds. Also the car died 3 times, once while pulling out in front of a car. The other issue is that the car while stopped, be it in neutral or drive has a very bad idle. The engine spikes up and down while the rpm gauge stays still. The car had about 15,000-16,000 miles during these issues, and owned less than 2 years. I contacted the dealership and they took the car in to "fix" it. It was in the shop for I believe 27 days to be exact and never did experience any of the problems. They said the intercooler had some moisture in it and this is what was maybe causing the issues. I get the car back and it has the same issues as before, I called Volkswagen of America to try to negotiate a way to give the car back or something so I don't have a lemon. They asked me to take it in 1 more time for a diagnoses so they can see what's wrong with the car. They claimed they "found" an update for the transmission "TCM", which should fix the issue. Volkswagen of America told me they would be willing to negotiate with me if I didn't claim the lemon law, I felt this was fair and hoped for a legitimate resolution. I talked to the regional manager of the company and he told me the most they could do for me is give me a 1,000$ voucher to apply when I trade in my car for another Volkswagen. I explained that I didn't want another Volkswagen since the "new" one I had purchased was a lemon. He then said oh well that's the best we can do, get a lawyer if you don't agree. I would not recommend ever dealing with this dealership and or Volkswagen of America. You will be disappointed with the service they provide. I have since filed a complaint with Bbb, and will pursue Oregon state lemon law. read more

Horrible service all around. You generally have to leave messages when calling their service department. The service guy that was helping me was helping and talking to other people while I was there AND in another instance when calling to get a quote on service work. The service staff are not very knowledgeable about Volkswagen vehicles which worries me about having my vehicle worked on there. Instead of the service guy apologizing to me about their service, or lack thereof, he was justifying his actions as a "normal business practice" and talking down to me. I'd rather drive my vehicle for service in Portland at this point. They have lost my future business in service and new car purchasing. read more

Excellent experience! I bought a 2013 Passat and I couldn't be happier. It was an amazing price and they had a great selection to choose from. I went to a few dealerships and I ended up going with Sheppard Motors because of their customer service. Kevin was extremely helpful, friendly, easy-going and not at all pushy. Everyone was great and I'll definitely go back for my next car. Thank you Sheppard Motors for such a positive experience. I couldn't have asked for more! read more

Beware! Your car may get stolen if you leave it at Sheppard Motors to get serviced, and they won't do anything or even return your calls. After making an appointment to have a problem fixed on our Volvo car, we left it at the service door and put the keys and paperwork along with my cell phone number in their envelope through the drop box opening as we have done many times before. Four times during the next 9 days I received calls on my cell phone from someone saying they were from Sheppard Motors telling me what the problem was and when parts and repairs would be done. When we went to pick our car up, Sheppard Motors told us they didn't have any record of our car being there, except for the appointment call. John Roche the service manager even asked us if we were sure we hadn't left it at some other repair shop! Somehow the thieves had got our car keys and the service form with my cell phone number out of their shop and now they did not believe that we had left it there. The good news is after many hours with police and insurance people our car was recovered two weeks later in Albany with Sheppards envelope and service forms still in it, not too much wrong with the car but things where stolen like prescription sunglasses. I then tried to call John Roche to see if they could tell me about how much it would cost to have our original problem fixed and Never got a call back. The Albany and Eugene Police officers and I felt that they know they have a problem with an employee or ex-employee and don't want to deal with it, or to help a long time customer. It is sad when a long time dealership changes management and won't help a longtime customer when they need it. read more

My son was buying his first used car, we found a "great deal", we thought ,through Sheppard Motors. Our salesman was no pressue, and we felt good about everything. We made the deal and 10 days later the engine blew. While Sheppard Motors said they would work with us and apply what we paid for the other car to a new one, when all was said and done, they only applied $1500 of $2800 because of the "value" of the blown engine car and of course, they would then be "losing money" because of the resell value of the old car. We ended up getting a different car and paying thousands of dollars more then we wanted, plus the $1300 difference rolled in to the new loan. I was extremely disappointed in this and would NEVER return to Sheppard Motors again. So much for great service. Seems that when it comes to money, nothing else matters to them. As a person in Management I would have expected more. Making things right is how you get return customers. In addition, while we were trying to find a different car, we made numerous offers on other cars, one was $6999, we offered $6000, they would not accept this offer. So, we kept looking, found another, and they would not budge from their asking price AT ALL. We finally just settled. But, in the meantime, the same car we offered $6000, the price - a week later, was now $5999!!! read more

The best Dealership I've ever dealt with. The service is awesome, they make you feel like they're working to help you get what you need. I went in for a test drive on the all new Hyundai Tucson, they didn't have the exact model I wanted but I test drove one anyways. I told them I wasn't ready to buy one at exactly that moment. They didn't hassle me or try to guilt trip me into buying one right then. About three weeks later I contacted Charlie De Long who I met during my test drive and asked about the car with all the features I wanted that I saw on the Hyundai site. He said it was just taken off the truck and being prepped for sale. A few more days of calling, emailing back and forth. Since I live an hour away Charlie said he would drive the car down to me and bring all the paperwork with him. He worked around my schedule which was great. I didn't have to spend hours at a dealership trying to buy a car. It was the best experience I've had and now I own a 2016 Hyundai Tucson and will most likely be a lifelong customer. read more

Took my daughters car in for a recall, 2007 Hyundai Azera. I did mention 2 other items that were a problem, a piece of rubber from the sunroof had fallen off, I told them it didn't leak and I just need to know if it was necessary for the integrity of the sunroof, if it was just cosmetic don't mess with it. Also, the emissions light came on, could they reset it. Probably just a loose gas cap (I have run into this issue on my nissan). They call me back to say they are charging me $150 for checking the sunroof and running a diagnostic on the light, but that isn't the worse part, during the diagnostic (which I didn't ask for) they say they found a leak in the front axle and it needs to be replaced, $800 for a refurbished part + labor, $1000 for factory part + labor. Gave me a print out with it in red saying it needs to be repaired immediately. FYI, they also shared the sunroof didn't leak (um....duh....I had told them that, but they ran all these unnecessary tests on it that they are now charging me for, and the light went out once they fixed the recall) so I got them to reduce my bill to $100 - for the free recall service.... Took the car to Euro-Asian, to do the same fix it was $296, which was great, but that isn't the best part, they ran a FREE diagnostic and found out that the axle is fine just need to replace a clamp on the boot around the axle that was leaking, $53 and boom, car fixed, good as new. So either Sheppard was trying to rip me off and scare me because this was my teenage daughters car, or they didn't know what they were doing and how to fix it economically. Either way, not a good experience. Won't be going back. read more

I purchased my 2017 Hyundai Elantra the end of July from Sheppard Motors. Two months prior to my purchase I had gone in and test drove the car to make sure it was the car for me. The salesman, Charles DeLong, was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and was not a high pressure person. I had decided that I was going to wait until the first of the year to make my purchase and he never pushed me to make a purchase I was not ready for. A few months later, my car developed an issue that pushed up needing a car by about 6 months. I was on my way up to Portland to find a deal when I remembered the amazing salesman at Sheppard. I gave him a call and let him know that he had made such an impression on me a few months back that I felt I owed him a shot at making me a great deal. After many phone calls back and forth that day, he made me a deal I couldn't help but accept. I have to say that this was by far my best car buying experience. Everyone I dealt with there was very kind and professional. I got a great deal on my car and most importantly, I got exactly what I wanted without any pressure of having to purchase "up". On a scale of 1-10, I would give Charles and the rest of the staff at Sheppard a "15"! read more
