Sheppard Hyundai Eugene did this to my car
    Terry A.

This is related to the service department only. This review is accurate and states the facts. We purchased two new Hyundai cars (Santa Fe and Kona), October of 2021 from Kirkland Hyundai. Around 6K miles on the Santa Fe I called Sheppard Hyundai for service advise. The service department could not tell me at what mileage I should bring in my Santa Fe for its first scheduled maintenance. But we did bring it in for its first service right around 6K miles. I waited all day for a phone call, letting me know the car was ready. Finally I called and was told "Oh yeah, its ready". I picked up the car, drove home and then noticed the blemish that was on the drivers side front rim, was still there. Which indicated the tires had not been rotated. This is part of the regular maintenance. I complained and indicated in no uncertain terms that a customer trusts the service department services the vehicle correctly. They never offered to rotate the tires. A few months later my wife takes her Kona in for its first service. Guess what, Sheppard Hyundai service did not rotate the tires on her car either. Again I complained - no offer to rotate the tires. Around 10K miles on my Santa Fe, the front brakes started to vibrate under braking, which usually indicates an issue with the rotors. Not trusting Sheppard Service I went to Les Schwab. They looked at the front brakes and indicated that yes the front rotors need to be either replaced or resurfaced. Parts were not available via Les Schwab. I went to Sheppard, and after a bit of a run around, me calling to Hyundai to complain, Sheppard Service indicated the rotors would be replaced under the 12 month/12K mile warranty. Took my car in for the brake repair, only to be told the rotors would have to be ordered. Should be ready the next day (Friday). I receive a call from Sheppard Service on Friday, indicating the rotors had been replaced, BUT Sheppard Service had damaged the front passenger rim and destroyed the tire. A new tire had to be ordered. I asked what they were going to do about the damaged rim. Only then did they offer to bring in their "wheel guy" to repair the otherwise perfect rim. No offer for a rental car. So I'm without a car for 4 days. I pick up the car on Monday, new tire and an OK repair job on the rim. There is some runout where the repair was made. A slight depression. So the rim is not in the same conditions before it was damaged by Sheppard Service. The only good thing that came out of this repair, was that a TCU update was applied, and now the TCU/DCT shifts are smooth and not so jerky. I did call to Sheppard motor to indicate that the software update did the trick. What did they tell me, "hey can you give us a good review". REALLY? They damaged my car, applied a software update to the TCU, and they want KUDOS? And now to top it all off, there is a droning sound that comes from the front of the card at speed above 40MPH. Is it the new tire? Is it the new rotors. Is it because the pads were not replaced along with the new rotors. (I called to a few brake shops and they ALL indicated that yes, when you get new rotors you replace the pads - Never put used pads on a new rotor). I just don't understand how a service department can be so inept. Is it due to the fact that all warranty work, service is to be done at a Hyundai Service department, and they are the only one in town? I was scheduled to take my care in today to see where the droning sound is coming from, and what do you know........... Sheppard Service called and said they had to reschedule to next week. What a load of crap.

From the very first, Joe had our trust and never let us down. The truck was exactly as described, and it was the first time in 35 years we had ever even considered buying a vehicle without a test drive because of that trust. He made our long-distance purchase from the duty station in Seattle work with text, calls, Venmo for the deposit, and lightning fast response time, even with our three week delay that held the truck for picking up when military scheduling allowed. Joe followed through with every detail and made our son's first vehicle purchase a wholly positive one. Extraordinary and impeccable pride and professionalism in an industry where we thought it was impossible to find anything of the kind! We were so impressed, and recommend Autorama and especially Joe Baudichon without reservation.

Every experience has been so much better than any of the other places around town. While they don't have the service department or the huge lot of vehicles, the process with them is pressure-free and friendly. Also, you don't spend a whole day at the dealership if you buy from them, they know what they're doing and don't waste time going back and forth between buyer and manager or whatever it is the larger places do to drag things along. They also won't push you to buy something you don't need. Every time we've been there, they've waited awhile before approaching us, letting us look at vehicles without feeling like you're going to be accosted by a stereotypical salesperson as soon as you park on the lot. Also, if you're looking for something really specific, they do offer to do the searching for you and will get you the car you're looking for, if you can't find it here right away. Rethink spending your money here…read more Purchase a used Cadillac Escalade low miles from them and took delivery March 20 2024. Several days later my wife came to me stating engine was making a weird knocking noise. Volvo offers a used car warranty of 6 months. Called salesman(who was great) and he arranged us to bring it into the service department. I pulled the vehicle into check in where they have a very extensive check in process where they document your vehicle with many cameras for damage. Me and one of the technicians went on a ride he happened to work for GM at some point and was familiar with the drivetrain. We had both came to the conclusion that it was a failing lifter in the engine. He stated that their third party warranty company would need to come and approve the warranty. So we left the car for a few days. The third party and Volvo refused to repair the lifter unit there was a complete failure of the part. I was told to keep driving the vehicle until it failed. Makes no sense right?? Repair part of destroy the engine when it does fail??? Fast forward to September 20th exactly 6 months to the day. I immediately call the Volvo service department and let them know what is going on. They get back to me and state that because we made the deal on the car on March 18th that we were two days past the covered time and we're pretty much SOL. I tried explaining that we have had this vehicle for exactly the time and that you told us to keep driving it. They couldn't care less and also denied that the vehicle was ever in their service department for that issue. I tried explaining what had happened and their reply was we document every car and keep those records for 7 years. The service manager keeps saying it was never there but in fact we have all conversations documented as well as Volvo ordering me a Lyft and sending me home from the service department. Today 9/23 the story changed and they claim that the reason there is no service record is because they sent it to the Cadillac dealer. We called that said dealer and they have no record of the vehicle ever being in there shop. At this point we are getting the run around and it looks like they knew what exactly was going on and were hoping we would make it out of the warranty period and now they are dragging their feet hoping to get out of any cost to repair the engine. Mind you it's only got 74k miles on it. That lifter completely failed and damaged the engine including the cylinder head. At this point we are into this engine just for parts $2500 not including labor or machine shop work to repair the bent valves. Hopefully this review will get the attention of someone at Volvo that actually cares and wants to have a conversation other than blow us off.

Since were passing through Eugene, we pulled in to the Volvo dealership here. On Sundays the service department is closed - which is OK, we understand that - so we just asked if there was someone who could help us navigate the process of using Volvo roadside assistance to get towed to our home dealer (in Beaverton) and get us home as well. They said no. They said we just sell Volvos, we can't help you. I asked if they sell the roadside assistance with their Volvos, they said yes - and I asked if they could help us use it or had any contacts who could - and they said no. A less than a year old Volvo and they won't even help us at all - in fact at that point the salesman just walked away. He didn't even show any kind of sympathy or interest in helping stranded Volvo customers in a car less than a year old. If you choose to shop at this dealership - just be honest with yourself - they only care about you until they have your money, then at that point they could care less what happens to you. Just have your eyes wide open. They are not interested in you or a relationship, they are not interested in what your experience is with your Volvo. They just want your cash then you're on your own. With that knowledge - make sure you negotiate your price down as whatever BS they may tell you about customer service or support is clearly not true. Don't be fooled.
