First impression? Don't judge it by the outside. It's tucked away in a strip mall and the entrance is pretty unassuming. Nothing fancy, and honestly a little underwhelming when you first pull up. The ambience inside is a bit of a mixed bag too. It's a small, intimate restaurant probably around 30-35 seats and some of the lighting is quite spotlight-y, which can feel a little harsh depending on where you're seated. We actually asked to move tables because of it, and they were accommodating (sort of) Once we moved, though, the whole experience felt much nicer. And then came the food. The menu is extensive, and I highly recommend scanning the QR code and looking at the online version because you can see photos and descriptions of everything before ordering. There's a big emphasis on the quality and sourcing of the fish, with selections coming in from Japan, Norway and elsewhere. We ordered A LOT - yellowtail, nigiri, poke ribs, tempura dishes and a whole assortment of other plates and genuinely, there wasn't one dish that felt like a miss. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. Definitely explore the nigiri. Also, order the fresh wasabi from the menu rather than sticking with the regular horseradish-style wasabi. Worth it. I wasn't drinking that night, but the pineapple mocktail was excellent, and their drinks menu looked great overall. Service was top-notch. Ask for Saeed if he's there he was fantastic and really added to the experience. Fair warning: it isn't cheap. We spent around $250 for two people, so this is definitely more of a splurge dinner than a casual sushi night. The ambience may not scream "$250 dinner," but the quality of the food and the service absolutely stood out. Come for the food, not the fancy setting and don't let the strip-mall exterior fool you. When we asked for the third time, we finally asked that the appetizers be cancelled since we had already finished our meal. At that point, the gentleman working the front area , tall, with red hair, loudly yelled from across the restaurant, in an extremely rude and confrontational tone, "It's already on the grill!" There was absolutely no reason to speak to paying customers that way. His response was unprofessional, unnecessary, and honestly created a very hostile and uncomfortable feeling during what should have been an enjoyable dinner, especially while our group was on vacation and simply trying to enjoy a meal together. When the appetizers eventually came out, we left them sitting there because we were already done eating and ended up taking them to go. He eventually told us they would be removed from the bill, which we appreciated, but that did not excuse the way the situation was handled. Again, the food was good, but good food does not make up for poor service and especially not for an employee speaking to customers in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Management should seriously address how customers are treated, because the interaction with this particular employee overshadowed what could have otherwise been a good dining experience for our party of 12.
