Visited Dahlonega for Christmas and was pretty surprised at the sparse number of restaurants in the area. Couldn't get reservations anywhere nor could we walk in without a several hour wait. Luckily we visited Shenanigans early one day and got reservations. Cool environment, friendly and funny staff. Food was really good, loved the Irish flare. Four of us there and we all enjoyed this. Definitely recommend this place and if we visit again, we'll definitely pay them another visit. read more

He made comments about how overworked he was, how he didn't like people who made special orders because of allergies and on and on. Love this place. The service is great. They have amazing food. The bangers wer excellent. Do understand that the 'potato pancakes' are not what you're thinking. They are not like potato pancakes (or latkes) made out of mashed potatoes that your grandmother made. Don't waste your money on them. I've had a drink here many times but this is the first time I've eaten here. The inside is small but they have two outdoor dining areas, one of them fully covered and screened, the other one outside with table umbrellas. They serve traditional Irish food as well as several American items. We started out with an appetizer, their "crack dip". To be certain, there was nothing at all addicting with this appetizer. Essentially, cream cheese mixed with Rotel and a little bit of sausage and served with tortilla chips. Average at best. I had the patty melt and it was the first time I ever had a patty melt that was not juicy and thus one was fairly devoid of flavor. My wife had the chicken tenders. Not only did they look terrible, but she only ate two bites and could go and no further. They had a draft menu of about 15 draft offerings, however, only six were available; why list them if you're not going to make them available? They do have a decent selection of bottles and cans as well as a cocktail menu. Sorely disappointed in the food, I can only give the food one star at best. The service was good, and that was a bright spot. From my experience, not a good place to eat, but a decent place to grab a pint now and again. read more

We came for St Paddy's day. We arrived at 11:05 (they open at 11) and the place was already almost full. We were sat and severed immediately. I was shocked to see it that busy so early but they did a great job!! I loved that all of the staff were dressed up and festive. My husband loved his green beer. I had the lemonade cocktail & pain killer. Both of my cocktails were excellent!! The fish & chips were delicious!! The Pb chocolate pie was a little pricey for its size but still delicious! Wow. First time trying Shenanigans and it was absolutely great! The wait was long, but it is the holiday season so of course everyone is out and about enjoying the perfect little town. We were first sat outside and it was so cold, so my fiancée asked to be moved inside and everyone was super helpful and got us a table inside pretty quick. Our server was very friendly and helped us with any questions we had. I had the Honey Lemon Pepper Chicken Sandwich and my fiancée had the Reuben. The food came out fast considering how busy it was at the time and everything was so good. If you're looking for somewhere to go while visiting Dahlonega, this is definitely the place! I wish I could have enjoyed some of the live music and the bar area. That looked pretty fun. Shenanigans is absolutely a mandatory stop when looking for a place with great atmosphere in the quaint town of Dahlonega. It's a multi-level Irish pub located just off the main square in Dahlonega. You're in for a treat if seated in the main room and bar area that's a colorful pop with all the dollar bills serving as decoration. While we didn't dine here and opted to eat at Spirits Tavern (excellent food), this was the perfect watering hole/bar spot for fun vibes and hanging out. My friends weren't the biggest fans of the Irish coffee they had, but the bartender was great for conversation, even delivering a shenanigan of her own by snapping a selfie when we asked her to take our picture. Shenanigans is definitely a place to put on your itinerary when visiting Dahlonega. Just make sure to grab a seat in the main room as the patio and 2nd floor seating area wasn't as festive or decorative. read more

When we go to Dahlonega, this is our place to eat. Great ambiance. An old house with dollar bills on the walls and a really friendly staff I usually get one of their great burgers or fish and chips. Both are yummy and it's always a hard decision on which one to choose. My wife opts for the shepherds pie. Always! It is a generous helping and it is packed with good flavors. Outstanding in every respect! Reception at my hotel provided the recommendation, and I'm so pleased that they did. Shenanigans is a "well-oiled machine", and gets all aspects of an upscale casual dining establishment spot-on. I was seated by the kitchen, and you can immediately tell how well both the back of the house and the servers make things happen. As an "Irish Pub"-themed place, they have (of course) a plethora of meat entrees. I am plant-based, and the Arbor burger was just outstanding. I doubt I will find myself in that part of Georgia ever again, but if I am, I will go out of my way to enjoy a meal at Shenanigans! read more

Lived in Dahlonega and ate here regularly for 5 years before I moved to Asheville 2 years ago. I was back in town and ate lunch on Sunday. I had a new bartender and trainer that was very nice. The only thing saving this place is nostalgia and the great service. Unfortunately, though the food and well to a lesser extent, their beverages are let's just see barely scrapping the bottom part of mediocre. I hope I'm wrong here, but I feel like this restaurant like many of the only establishments in dahlonega are owned by very greedy, selfish people with no concern for the customers that are going to their establishments. I think everything that's wrong with this place could be fixed if the owner was satisfied with less money at the end of the month,and putting more than a couple of slices of ham on a sandwich, or actually making a good product, but no, they're just interested in sucking on tourist and the poor locals that have to frequent this horrible establishments. read more

Disappointing. Some of the reviews led me to believe that "maybe" they made some food from scratch. Unfortunately we had two frozen burgers warmed on a grill and brought out way too quick to believe that any real effort went into making them. Fries were obviously under a heat lamp for awhile. Patty melt was just a burger with onions on grilled bread. It's all fresh from the freezer and bland. If you want to snack while drinking a Guinness I guess it's ok.
