I recently visited Dahlonega and stopped by Shenanigans. I was with my friends and their two kids. I had the honey lemon pepper chicken sandwich and it was really good. Normally, I would like to put hot sauce or something on my chicken sandwich, but this didn't need that. My friends had the fish and chips sandwich and a shrimp wrap. The kiddos had beef stew and butter noodles. The Georgia Peach Tea and Key Lime Pie cocktails are also quite good! Fun place, good staff! read more

One of those places you really want to love but unfortunately we did not. This place has the potential to be your favorite bar food and maybe we just had an okay experience.. The food was average at best. Don't get me wrong, they have a lot of great qualities but I'd recommend this place strictly for drinks. Fun atmosphere, cute lil Irish pub in downtown Dahlonega. Definitely worth checking out but from reading reviews our standards were too high when it came to food. Service was great! I'd give that 4 stars on its own. We started with the "crack dip". In all honesty, we didn't care for it. The menu stated it has sausage, but there was hardly any and the dip was cold (maybe how it's supposed to be but it wasn't our thing). We also got the Guinness burger and fish and chips. They were good but not great. They had a pretty good selection for food and drinks. We got a few local sours (which were good). They have cocktails, beer and wine. Parking can be a not so great experience in downtown Dahlonega but luckily they have a parking lot right behind their property. Small but we sure appreciated that. If you're going on a weekends, expect to wait but the host stand does a great job with communication and they text you when your tables ready. They have different events during the week/weekend and had trivia on a Friday night when we came. I'd recommend stopping in for drinks after running around downtown. The location is great. This was my favorite restaurant in Dahlonga!!! The food was incredible and the service was fantastic! I had the Guinness chicken and mash! It was amazing!!! I cleaned the plate with my bread. The combination of flavor with the mushroom gravy was fantastic! I also enjoyed how tender the chicken was. I am going to have to learn how to make this back home. The Irish coffee was strong and full of flavor! The inside is adorable! They have two floors (from what we saw) and dollar bills all over the walls. We sat in the upstairs. It was intimate and not super loud which I was thankful for. We can not talk more highly of this place! It's a must visit! read more

Oh, my stars wow, what a place what history? What a site. I don't go to Irish pubs or restaurants, but I thought I would take a leap of faith and try this one.. even though I didn't order the most popular dish or what you go therefore bangers and mash. I ordered a veggie Reuben that comes with fresh spinach, marinated sauerkraut, wild mushroom mix, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on a toasted rye marble bread. Mind blowing incredibly delicious tons and tons of flavor you can taste the the flavors that they put in the fermented sauerkraut the seasonings they put in the mushroom mixture in the homemade thousand island dressing even if you are a meat lover you're going to love this sandwich. You will not miss the meat also ordered the black Angus patty melt the meat was thick and juicy. The seasoned caramelized onions were cooked perfectly. it was such a nice size sandwich only was able to eat half and it comes with homemade potato chips. What's not to love servicer was knowledgeable at tentative understanding and appreciative can't ask for more than that. There is dollar bills all over the walls and the ceiling in this place there must be $1 million on the walls and it has that old Irish feel with thick dark wood all around. And then there's this modern wall in green neon lights that says the Resturaunt name shenanigans very cool, very uptown. I will definitely have Irish restaurants or pubs in my radar. They changed me. Fairly typical pub atmosphere and no stand-outs with the decor or the menu, but we were seated quickly, and the service was quick and friendly. The Southwest Sausage Dip was surprisingly good, and the Fish and Chips, Philly Cheesesteak, and wings were delicious. The cole slaw was described to me by the waitress as "different," and different it was. I neither liked nor disliked it, but the homemade honey mustard and tartar sauce were sooo good. This is not the place to go if you want something light or even marginally healthy, but you can work off your grease and carbs by walking around the village. If you drop by when there is a wait to be seated, stroll across the street and play a game of outdoor chess or grab a book from the free library at the memorial garden. read more

I've had a drink here many times but this is the first time I've eaten here. The inside is small but they have two outdoor dining areas, one of them fully covered and screened, the other one outside with table umbrellas. They serve traditional Irish food as well as several American items. We started out with an appetizer, their "crack dip". To be certain, there was nothing at all addicting with this appetizer. Essentially, cream cheese mixed with Rotel and a little bit of sausage and served with tortilla chips. Average at best. I had the patty melt and it was the first time I ever had a patty melt that was not juicy and thus one was fairly devoid of flavor. My wife had the chicken tenders. Not only did they look terrible, but she only ate two bites and could go and no further. They had a draft menu of about 15 draft offerings, however, only six were available; why list them if you're not going to make them available? They do have a decent selection of bottles and cans as well as a cocktail menu. Sorely disappointed in the food, I can only give the food one star at best. The service was good, and that was a bright spot. From my experience, not a good place to eat, but a decent place to grab a pint now and again. read more

I found this restaurant while doing a walking tour. We could smell the food from the street and it smelled amazing! The restaurant was packed with people waiting in line outside, but there was only about a 15 minute wait. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Something unique about this restaurant is the bar inside is covered in dollar bills. Our server was very friendly. The Gemini cocktail was beautiful and tasty! We ordered the Irish Nachos, Fish & Chips, and Southwest Ireland Shrimp Wrap. It was all pretty good, but the wrap was the best thing we had there! The nachos were a little cold and we had to order extra salsa because it was also a little dry, but they do have good flavor. read more

We came for St Paddy's day. We arrived at 11:05 (they open at 11) and the place was already almost full. We were sat and severed immediately. I was shocked to see it that busy so early but they did a great job!! I loved that all of the staff were dressed up and festive. My husband loved his green beer. I had the lemonade cocktail & pain killer. Both of my cocktails were excellent!! The fish & chips were delicious!! The Pb chocolate pie was a little pricey for its size but still delicious! Food was terrible. Service was terrible. We didn't know who our server was for most of the time we were there because SEVEN different people (yes, I counted) came to our table. We finally figured it out when one of those seven people came over to say they were leaving and passing us off to someone else. This was during normal dinner hours with a packed restaurant. That seemed really weird to me but who asked for my opinion. We also witnessed an employee get chewed out by someone who seemed to be on day one of being in charge. Honestly the whole place was a giant hot mess. It was difficult to catch someone to get things you needed and no one seemed to care about helping you. We had burgers and the mussel appetizer, and holy sh*t, we are ALL still thinking about those mussels. The burgers were good too, don't get me wrong, but those mussels in the white wine sauce were to die for. We literally finished the meal going "if we died right now, we'd be telling the grim reaper it was worth it." Wow. First time trying Shenanigans and it was absolutely great! The wait was long, but it is the holiday season so of course everyone is out and about enjoying the perfect little town. We were first sat outside and it was so cold, so my fiancée asked to be moved inside and everyone was super helpful and got us a table inside pretty quick. Our server was very friendly and helped us with any questions we had. I had the Honey Lemon Pepper Chicken Sandwich and my fiancée had the Reuben. Cool space and great food! Wish this place would stay opened later on Thursday nights and do more to cater to the college student crowd! Johnny B's is great but it's so small inside. UNG students need more nightlife options past 10:00 on a Thursday and Friday. A Thursday night cool DJ or band would be incredible for the college students. Shenanigans is a disappointment for me. When I reviewed the menu, I imaged dining there several times over my stay to sample various items that all sounded so exciting. In reality, I went once and have no interest in returning. I ordered the Waffle Housed Sirloin described as, "8oz Certified Angus Beef Sirloin smothered with caramelized onions, capped with wild mushroom mix, and covered with our housemade gravy". The steak itself was a decent size although a bit thin. It was tender and tasted okay. It was the toppings, designed to make it special, that disappointed most. The portion of overcooked, slim onions cannot be described as "smothering". And the small portion of mushrooms did not have much flavor. The "homemade brown gravy" was not good at all. It had an off-putting flavor not typical of homemade. The filling of the Irish Cream Pie was very good and the texture is very nice. The restaurant and bar areas are small. There is a small lobby but most waited outside for a table. There is no seating while you wait. read more

Visited Dahlonega for Christmas and was pretty surprised at the sparse number of restaurants in the area. Couldn't get reservations anywhere nor could we walk in without a several hour wait. Luckily we visited Shenanigans early one day and got reservations. Cool environment, friendly and funny staff. Food was really good, loved the Irish flare. Four of us there and we all enjoyed this. Shenanigans is absolutely a mandatory stop when looking for a place with great atmosphere in the quaint town of Dahlonega. It's a multi-level Irish pub located just off the main square in Dahlonega. You're in for a treat if seated in the main room and bar area that's a colorful pop with all the dollar bills serving as decoration. While we didn't dine here and opted to eat at Spirits Tavern (excellent food), this was the perfect watering hole/bar spot for fun vibes and hanging out. My friends weren't the biggest fans of the Irish coffee they had, but the bartender was great for conversation, even delivering a shenanigan of her own by snapping a selfie when we asked her to take our picture. Shenanigans is definitely a place to put on your itinerary when visiting Dahlonega. Just make sure to grab a seat in the main room as the patio and 2nd floor seating area wasn't as festive or decorative. read more
