Shell Shack was a below average dinner experience. Service was a little slow (I sat at the bar with about seven or eight other diners/drinkers). The female working the bar kept up as best she could while another female server sat down and watched TV 90% of the time I was there. I ordered the grilled shrimp po boy, it came out fried but I didn't send it back as it took a while to get to me and I was just hungry and ready to eat. The $12.99 po boy was average at best, lots of bread, not much sauce, some tomato and onion. The fried shrimp themselves were pretty tasty I suppose. Fries were good, and you get a lot of them. Ordered a beer which wound up being $6.25 which I thought was a little pricey. There are lots of TVs and they had the Mavericks basketball game on, but no Thursday night NFL and was hoping to maybe keep up with the Stars hockey game but it also wasn't on. If it wasn't for Nicki my rating would be a 1-2. With I could give it a 4 for her sake. And I don't even think she was a sever! I believe she was the host! She was amazing, kind and had great customer service! We were given a server named Ashley , who then became the bartender and we were completely forgotten about after our food got dropped off. She then had a bad attitude and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience. Didn't get checked on by her during or after just brought the payment. Asked for a sprite 3 times, and I had to have another server bring it. I got mild sauce and was given hot and my friend asked for hot and was given mild for our boils. The food was mid, overcooked and came out warm. Super upsetting but overall the seafood boil itself was good! Just wish the service was better. Visited this location 2 weeks ago 2/5 i believe our waiter was Nick, (we went at 7pm) He was very attentive and made sure we had a pleasant time. we appreciated him putting our bibs on for us. This is such a cool place to hang out and chill as a family or solo. It's very clean, the prices are reasonable and the staff are super attentive (especially crystal she rocks). I'm not a seafood eater lmao and enjoy the sides so if you are like me no worries. I ordered sausage, eggs, potatoes & corn with the kitchen sink sauce on Saturday & returned 24 hours later and ordered the same thing all over again on Sunday - ahh yah yah. My experience at this specific shell shack was very poor and I would not recommend. Firstly, it took almost 10-15 mins to get our drink order after sitting down. Secondly, they were out of king crab which would have been fine, but the replacement snow crab we received was very little and I do not feel like it was a full pound. On top of it all, the food was VERY subpar. The seasoning was bland, the butter wasn't hot at all and the crab was mushy and empty on a lot of the legs. The atmosphere was also poor. Well- the food is good and the staff was nice going in to get the order. They asked us to make sure the order was right (weight of bag felt heavy) , which we looked at the contents, saw the bag of crab and the order of pickles. Said it looked right and left. Get home and start and pour contents of crab bag with the sausage into a bowl and start eating the sausage first (less work hands on) about 3 sausages in, I'm looking at the amount of crab and think is that even a lb that I paid for? I'm a seafood addict! Lol living up here in Virginia I have been to so many of these types of places and I'm very glad that in Texas (my home state) that they have places like this down there. Came here while visiting family and I just say I'm very impressed! Prices are a little steep but other than that it was awesome! I liked that they had buckets that you can get already made but for me I like to buy mine pound by pound because of the pork sausage (which I don't eat pork) and the corn. One thing I wish they would consider is your availability to sub the sausage and/or corn for extra shrimp/crawfish, etc. that would make purchasing the "buckets" worth my wild. The food was greasy and tasteless. The sauces have flavor, but it does not make it into the boiled seafood. The seafood was not fresh and had a freezer burn (food that has been frozen too long or refrozen) flavor to it. Some of the worse seafood I have ever had and I eat a lot of seafood. read more
