Hmmm where do I start.... Well for starters it was a Thursday night for my crew so seating wasn't an option. We decided to sit outside weather was nice. Our server Stephanie was just okay she missed the King Crab on our order and asked us did we know what King Crab was?! I wanted to be rude but I said yes we do politely. We also asked for scissors because our normal go to seafood spot has them... she yet again asked us did we know how to use the tool she provided...no scissors however again I wasn't rude but these were King Crabs not Mr. Krusty the Crab legs...the Shrimp I had were extremely salty not in a seasoned way but in Morton Salt way and it was greasy and I barely finished it...My daughter and my boyfriend enjoyed but for me I won't be returning spent $95 including tip for blah service and well I can't say bland food but this place just doesn't do it for me...there garlic butter was really good on the side though...they need to use different seasonings and possibly incorporate head on shrimp...the pictures are great and worth a thousand words but salt should be the caption. #HappyEating read more

Please, whatever you do, don't go here! My husband and I ordered calamari for our appetizer and it came out appealing to look at, but cold. Unfortunately, we sent them back, and they came back worse than before. Mind you, the calamari was now hot, but so tough and chewy, it made my jaws tired just to eat the few pieces I did eat! I had the buffalo shrimp, which was "swimming" in Frank's Red Hot hot sauce. For an up charge, I was able to substitute my fries for a house salad, which consisted of iceberg lettuce, Roma tomatoes, and was covered in "onion ring-sized red onions. I guess for seafood I shouldn't have expected much since we're not near any beaches, but I was still pretty disappointed, cause I know what I'm used to from up north. The restaurant is pretty dark inside, they use a lot of natural light from the windows but there just isn't enough of it, so I opted to sit outside, and it was a pretty nice day. The hostess and waitresses aren't that personable. No smile or anything, kind of a bad vibe. They do give you gloves to eat with, which is nice, but of course mine got a hole in them. The crab isn't worth the price. Maybe I should have tried a different (more expensive) kind, but it had no flavor. It was heavily, heavily seasoned, and just didn't taste that fresh at all. Dinned here on Monday, it was our waitress, LaToya's first day and we could not believe it! Her service was exceptional and she was very pleasant and enthusiastic! We received different boils with different seasonings however each one tastes the same with the only difference being the level of heat attributed to each. The staff seem confused, several tickets were mixed up with several problems. There doesn't seem to be AC in the building either, a portable fan is used for the restaurant. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Manager Jaime with great customer service who checked on me throughout my meal. The atmosphere was welcoming in itself! It was larger than other locations I had previously visited. Kaitlynn was my server and she did an amazing job by explaining menu options and checking on me periodically. The food was awesome! First the positives. The service was good and the snow crab I ordered tasted good. Now the bad. I went to the restroom after I ate and it was FILTHY. There was a clogged sink full of nastiness, 2 toilets were just gross, there was water and toilet paper all over the floor and no toilet paper in the dispensers just a big roll sitting on top. And this was the LADIES room. If I had seen the condition of the bathroom before I ate I would have left. How can I expect the kitchen and wait staff to be clean when the restroom is this bad. Just to let you know it was 6pm on a Sunday. Later on that night I got what I assume was a mild case of food poisoning (will spare you the details). The 2 stars are for the service and taste but I will never eat at this establishment again. read more

Good tasting food. It wasn't very hot, but we had a large group. The food came out at different times with a lot of time in between Pricey, with 20% gratuity, so plan accordingly. Although pricey, serving atmosphere is relaxed ie. Paper napkins on table and single forks laid on the bare table. Servers were pleasant and there were plenty of them. Last night was not the first bad experience I've had at the Arlington Shell Shack location. Usually the food is pretty good, but last night my crab legs were served kinda cold. I informed my waitress and she took them away, brought them back, but there wasn't much difference. I asked for Kitchen Sink-Diablo, but didn't experience very much spice at all. My hushpuppies were also lukewarm. I thought they would be fried fresh. I think I've given up on Shell Shack and will be sending an email to the corporate office, because I've noticed a steep decline in quality...I can get steamed crab legs from Albertson's for $8/lb...I come to Shell Shack because I usually like the flavor of the food, and when you pay $18.99/lb for Snow Crab, it should be way better than it has been the last visit or two. Everyone in our party was ready and ravenous for some really good seafood and, we knew Shell Shack would deliver! When we walked in, we all were immediately greeted by two friendly hostesses and were seated at a table for 4 by the front windows windows. Perfect! Our fun energetic server, Saraih, took our drink order and answered all of the questions we that had before ordering. Saraih was so attentive and helped make our entire dining experience exceptional! We knew we all wanted the "Kitchen Sink" Sauce Mild so, we ordered 1 1/2 lbs. of Bairdi Crab, 2 1/2 lbs. of Shrimp, 6 Sausages, 4 ears of Corn, 8 Potatoes and an order of Fried Shrimp and Fries! What a Feast! We were all bibbed-up and handed our rubber gloves and crab cracking utensils and we proceeded dig in! It was quite the experience...not many words were spoken...lots of mmmming & awwwing. The "Kitchen Sink" seasoning is some of the Best I've ever eaten...sorry Cajun Cousins. =/ My husband & brother in-law asked for an order (each) of Texas Toast to "sop-up" that great "Kitchen Sink Sauce" left in the bottom of our pan. It wasn't pretty, folks. The dining aftermath at our table was a Seafood Explosion and was down-right embarrassing. =D I was looking forward to shedding my Bib and Rubber Gloves and scrubbing up at the automatic hand washing station...it was NIIIICE! Alright, my boyfriend really wanted to try Shell Shack regardless of my opinion of it. Well, minus the cost of crab leg's, they were dang good. I'm not a risk taker when it comes to spice, so I played it safe w/ the mild. They were amazing (my review is on the crab legs). Like before, I did not like all of the grease that sat on the bottom, but the taste is what I cared most about. If they weren't almost $20.00 a pound, I'd stop by at least, once a week or more. For some reason, the going rate for crab from places like this, tend to follow suit when it comes to the price. Kroger still seems to be the spot for me. My boyfriend also chose to get the hottest flavor (forgive me, I don't know the same of it) of the crawfish, I was disappointed. The heat took over the taste of everything else. Family and I First visit around 10 pm on a Thursday . The wait was not bad . There to celebrate my daughter HS graduation since it was nearby the cowboys stadium in Arlington . While the food was delicious and fresh . The service was also good . We were definitely not prepared for the confrontations we saw from several groups of guests being escorted out by armed security ! We sat on patio for dining and become quite nervous watching the scenes play out . When leaving 2 of the security were in a heated exchange of words with a guest who had become enraged by her significant other actions at the bar The guest then parked behind our cars blocking our car in a few minutes then finally she sped off . The bill for party of 8 was $250 dollars about $50 beverages . With that type of atmosphere for that cost .Please do not bring your family here after 5 pm ! This is Not a family friendly restaurant at night ! We were a lot uncomfortable dining here ! My dining experience felt Straight hood due to the multiple guests encounters with armed security !Twice we felt the need to take cover for our safety . We now realize that 2 white young adult guys threw firecrackers paper caps to the ground as they as they passed by on sidewalk near our tables and laughed out loud about it when we were startled ! We initially thought the sound was maybe one of the patio bulbs blew out since one was blown out until the guys laughed ! We saw another guest take his foot and bend the front license plate of a car for no reason The dining guests were at least 50% African American and so are we . We have no plans to return here !!! A friend brought me here as a surprise as I had just moved from New Orleans and was missing good seafood. The positive : the crabs and Caesar salad was great. Relaxed atmosphere. Simple menu. Negatives: prices were much more than I would pay for in Louisiana. The crawfish and other sides were boiled in plain water and the "flavor" was a sauce that the crawfish were shaken in as the server walked to the table. The flavor was only on the outside shell. The part you don't eat. It's as though the owners or staff never stepped foot in New Orleans to taste the real deal. The key to flavor is letting everything soak in the seafood boil. I really wanted to like this place since it's the closest to my house but In my honest opinion there are much better seafood spots in Arlington. read more

So that was kinda sucky! However!!!!! The young lady who was working a Birthday Party in another room named Nandi came over and she instantly made everything better. We like this place a lot but it can get pricey since everything is ordered a la carte. I am an expert on crab and I love King & Dungeness the best; however, the best value here is the Snow crab(they also have Bairdi). While the "kitchen sink" seems to be popular, I think the Cajun & garlic was the best combination. We got our crab hot & Diablo and both were excellent. The crawfish were huge and very, very good. I would recommend the crab tater tots as an appetizer and it tasted the best with the cocktail sauce(tarter sauce was amazing too and I don't even like tartar sauce). You HAVE to try the shrimp "uptown style"--TRULY AMAZING! They also have a full bar and plenty of TV's if you want to do happy hour or watch the game. Our Server "Ny" was absolutely the best server we've had in a while. She was courteous, patient and gave us great recommendations. She made the experience extra special. Shell shack is probably one of my favorite places to eat boiled shrimp! I used to always go the uptown location but when the one in Arlington opened I started to go to this location. This location seems a lot more laid back than the uptown location. The food taste pretty much the same at both locations. I ordered a pound of shrimp- kitchen sink ( lemon pepper, Cajun and garlic) with medium spice level. I also got sausage, potatoes and corn. Everything was really good except for the sausage. The sausage was not that great at all. The service was fast and our waiter was very attentive and nice. There was a small issue with the payment while paying. The waiter had accidentally swiped my card for two different transactions but was very apologetic and the money was credited back to my account right away! Besides the payment mixup everything was good! But don't get the sausage lol. read more

My party of four visited this restaurant last night and immediately we were greeted at the door by someone who didn't even look like she worked there . I guess if the purpose was to not stand out as representative of the establishment, the goal was accomplished. Service was 'ok'. Food was waaay too salty and portion size was not commensurate with the pricing. The crab was not hot when it arrived at the table and the side order of rice was cold and portion size was super small (rice is CHEAP so I really don't understand ). Margarita was excellent and chicken wings were also good. I come from San Francisco Bay Area and I know good seafood. This was expensive for the portion size and service wasn't great. I don't usually like to write negative reviews, but my the meal at the Shell Shack was one of the most disappointing seafood meals that I have ever had. This maybe somewhat long, but I want to express what I wish I would have liked to have known before I went there. Our waitress was new, but that was ok because she was nice and she tried hard. Her name was Kayla I believe. The atmosphere was fine but the prices were outrageous. Started out with wings and calamari. The wings were suppose to be mild but were quite spicy. Overall I would rate them as very average to below average. The calamari was ok but they charged for extra sauce. No big deal had the rest of the meal been decent. For entrees we ordered the snow crab legs the boiled shrimp and a pound of crawfish. Seafood should generally be simple with spices that accent the flavor. The crab was covered in sauce that almost made you forget the crab. Crab is generally messy but instead of a bib and gloves they should give you a hazmat suit. Also if the crab are gonna be that messy you should have more than the dinky little napkins that they give you. The shrimp was ok but still a bit messy. The crawfish was an epic fail. They were a bit over cooked and mushy. The sauce was just a bit too much. No sucking the head here. The sauce was overpowering and did not have good flavor. And for 8.99 a pound these were probably the worst crawfish I have ever had and I have eaten crawfish all over the South. The manager kept coming around I think I was honest with him, but he would just tell me how I needed to order the next time. Frankly I was thinking there will definitely be no next time. If you like tricked up seafood maybe you will like this place. When you see the options they sound good but the menu is terribly executed. We definitely did not get our money's worth. Hostess and staff wasn't friendly or pleasant. Not sure if something occurred internally prior to us getting there a little after 4:30pm today, but energy wasn't friendly. In fact, there were three people (1 guy & 2 ladies) at the hostess desk and nobody greeted us. We received a wave of the hand gesture and she walked us to the seat and then walked away...no dialogue. Didn't care for the way my King Crab legs were drenched in this rub/marinade sauce. I ordered garlic and thought it would be just garlic and butter. I love seafood, so it was edible. I just love the natural sweet taste of the meat and you cannot taste it here. It's like having meat with your sauce. I will give them another chance because things happen.
