This is what a shop should be like. Honest. Straightforward. Amazing. The dealership (without letting me look at the underside of the car) wants to replace the entire exhaust system. So I say thank you very much, and drive straight to Playa Vista Shell. He drives around the block with me, puts it up on the lift, and yes, I've got problems with my cat and the A-pipe (chicago winters... they are for real). But nothings about to fall apart, nothing is "completely rusted and beyond repair" as I was told at the dealership. The rattle I hear all the time? It's the heat shield that my old shop in Chicago hacked on there (badly). And that's what I'll do next. They doesn't gouge me, he doesn't treat me like I'm stupid, and he tells me that I can keep driving this thing while I figure out what to do next. My car is old, it's time for me to think about replacing it. The horror story that the dealership told me about my entire exhaust falling out on the 105? Yea, maybe. but I'll more likely get a check engine light when the cat fails, and that's all she wrote. So, I'll put that thousand bucks toward a new used car, thank you very much, Playa Vista Shell . And when I get that new used car? I'm bringing it straight back for *all* my work. He lost out on a nice piece of work today, but he just gained a loyal customer for life. read more

I moved to this neighborhood 6 years ago and my old Corolla has been serviced here many times since - always leaving the garage in better health than when I dropped it in. Everyone here is friendly and professional, with Service Manager Kelly Murphy in particular a top-rate mechanic, always honest and determined to see his customers are happy and confident their vehicle is safe to drive away. He even drove a good 2 miles to give me a jump-start once, so that I could get my car back to the garage without having to call out a tow truck. They are always quick to turn around any issues, and have never charged for the time spent finding or diagnosing a problem - only on the labor and parts required to fix it. My wife brings her car here too and has received the same excellent level of service. The carpets in her car were soaked for a few weeks - we thought it was the neighbors' sprinkler system soaking the car everynight next to our driveway, but Kelly figured out a radiator leak and fixed it within a couple of hours - no problems since. For people who are not expert with cars, trust and honesty are very important when it comes to feeling satisfied and thats why we'll continue bringing our cars here for fixes and servicing. I hate to write bad reviews but this company is the worst of the worst in a line of work that has some of the most dishonest downright criminals around. they dont fix what the are supposed to fix the first time. i had my car here over a dozen times, about ten of the times it was because i brought it back for something to be fixed 5 times! this happened twice and neither problem is fixed! and, they charged me twice for a repair that was not repaired correctly the first time. the seem to be both incompetent and dishonest all at once, a horrible combination for a repair shop. example: i brought my car for a squeaky grinding noise in my rear brake. they "fixed it" and charged me hundreds of dollars and when i drove away and applied my parking break, it was not connected! this is a big safety issue and the noise was not gone. so not only did they not fix the problem, they lied about what was causing it and fixed something that didnt need fixed. i have since brought it back several times and the noise is still there and maybe worse. so $500 gone and the problem is worse. i will never go here again and i have already told many locals to avoid these clowns. read more

Kelly is flat out awesome. I pulled over to discover that my tire was flat. Biting the bullet I pulled out my jack and the spare and panicked when I realized I didn't have a tire jack that matched my lugs. I walked over to PVS and talked to Kelly. He walked back to the car and informed me that my that the lugs were just caps (duh!) and invited my back to PVS to check my other tires and offered to mount and balance my inevitable replacement tire. Maurice is very nice. he has to be to cover up his dishonesty and his team's incompetence. i brought my car back 6 times to get the same thing fixed one time and four times for another. then they butchered my car. moreover, i am very car savvy having performed major engine overhauls, brakes, and more and i know when a mechanic is lying. Maurice is dishonest like many mechanics. and the worst thing is that every time i would bring my car in, something else would be broken. also, they advertise that they are BMW ASE certified. they are not. ask them for the certifications. big time scam. avoid this place and go to Gary's right across the street. read more

I live in Westchester, I went for an oil change without appt. Kelly is truly the best! He got me right in. Jerry does great work. They also fixed my tire that had a nail in it. They are just the perfect neighborhood car shop-and they charge very fair. On top of service, Kelly even took time to fix my cup holder inside car that had broken spring without charge. That is the place to go, especially for German autos, but also for American or Japanese models. Kelly, one of the mechanics there is just a wonderful man. He is all about service. First time for me to meet a honest mechanic. He is very knowledgeable and works fast. I would recommend this business to anyone seeking scheduled maintenance, brake work and repairs. I drive a 1982 Mercedes 300TD wagon and took it into Kelly because a few things weren't working. He told me he's worked on these cars for decades and was able to diagnose and fix my problem in minutes. These guys are great and the place is convenient. I broke down near the shell gas station and They fixed my car quickly and efficiently. They saved me the trouble of getting my car towed to my mechanic that lives in the valley. Five stars for excellent service. Will be coming back again for further services and maintenance. read more
