Checked out a Kuwaiti restaurant chain that's halal in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn nyc. It's called Sheel Mashi and shares the space with Bora Bora a dessert and drink place. Got the Pome-Beef Sandwich for $7 with garlic mayonnaise, cubed beef, pomegranate and some other tasty stuff. Wow! Such flavor and really hit the spot. We will be back to try the drinks next time too. Photos didn't come out too well. Don't let that fool you.

New spot in bay ridge Very welcome and the sandwiches are flavorful!! There's places to sit and the aroma of the garlic sauce is the best all around

I came here a few times and it's always consistently good. I get any type of shawarma, and tell them double meat with extra sauce. The only issue that I have, is that the sandwiches are a bit small, but thats okay because the quality of the meat is delicious. The woman who took my order was very sweet.

If you're looking for a quick delicious bite! I'd definitely recommend this for you! I ordered the chicken shawarmas & they turned out good! There are other items that looked equally delicious so I'll definitely try that! The place is small and probably better to go!

Went to Sawa for dinner with a group of six on a Friday night, and it was a great dinner. When you…read morewalk in, you are immediately greeted by a giant oven baking fresh pita as well as an open kitchen. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.

I have a lot of Pros so i'm gonna start with really the only con. Con: it was pretty loud in the main room. Food: the Dorade and lamb meatballs were both awesome, the Chicken and Saffron butter was great as well. If youre gettting the pita and mezze, get more pita than you'd expect. It's some of the beg pita our family had ever had. The hummus was great but the babaganoush was killlerrrrr. My family had a field day on the syrian cheese and hot honey. I loved the grape leaves and charred eggplant. For dessert, ordered the tiramisu, date sticky pudding, and the rhubarb tart. The date sticky pudding was kind of like a date brownie and the toffee topping was insane. It was so rich and potent. tiramisu was good, but we could have done another Tart. It was so vibrant and refreshing, it was the first to go and if we wouldn't have already been stuffed, we would have ordered another. Service was great, and very accommodating. I can't have sesame seeds, and they took it off of everything we ordered, no mistakes there and much appreciated!

I would absolutely come back to try the short rib hummus and falafel! Everything ordered was shared: Mushroom hummus (10/10) delicious Fattoush salad (9/10 really refreshing) Patata harra (9/10 great flavor but I thought they'd be crispier) Monkfish kebab (8/10 the monkfish melted in your mouth but a little spicier than expected) Knafeh dessert (9/10 I wish it was a little crispier but delish!) Orange blossom donuts (8/10 also really good but a little too sweet!)

We tried the mushroom hummus, Zaa'tar fries, chicken shawarma sandwich, and Shakshouka. All of the food was delicious and well-made; I would recommend the mushroom hummus. The best part of the meal was the pita bread that comes with the hummus and also shakshouka. It was some of the best pita I've ever had; it had a nice chewy and soft texture. It came out warm and tasted so fresh. Service: Service was excellent. Staff were welcoming and friendly. They were attentive and constantly came around to fill our water. Ambiance: There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is a good size with many tables to accommodate both large and small groups. Seating is comfortable, and the ambiance is nice. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant!

On a Friday evening, my friend and I came in as walk-ins and got a spot at the bar. The space is a bit tight, but it works if you don't make a reservation ahead of time. I was pretty hungry, and everything we ordered was more than enough food. To start, we had the Whipped Ricotta ($14), Muhammara ($14), and Chicken Shawarma Hummus ($18). Absolutely loved every dip, which were all different in its own ways that I can't even choose a favorite. The ricotta was a sweet one that gave a nice contrast from the savory spices of the other two. I liked how much chicken they added for the hummus too, so you're getting almost a whole meal. You'll definitely need extra pita for all this, which does fill you up. We did also get a Radicchio Salad ($19) for some greens plus a Beef Kofta Skewer ($20) for some meat. Both of these dishes were solid, but could pass on them next time. Definitely recommend any of the mezze and hummus here; it's all you need. This is a really great date spot or group dinner. Perfect to have a drink or two while enjoying some pita and dips mostly.

We were visiting our son from Dallas to celebrate his 21st birthday. He was excited because this…read morewas the first restaurant reservation he had ever made for our family as an adult. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable evening was overshadowed by the behavior of one member of your staff. Our son accidentally booked a communal table instead of a standard table. We didn't realize that until we arrived. After being seated, I politely asked whether one of the available four-person tables might be an option. Another staff member explained the reservation, told us a table would likely open up shortly, and said he would move us when one became available. We appreciated the explanation. A few minutes later, while we were simply sitting at our assigned table drinking water, another employee--who appeared to be a manager or supervisor--approached us in an aggressive tone and said, "Apparently you guys want to move. Then you need to go outside and wait because there's a waitlist." The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational. We didn't argue and simply told him we'd stay where we were. The rest of dinner was enjoyable, and our waitress was excellent. She made great recommendations and provided warm, attentive service. Unfortunately, another incident occurred at the end of the meal. I had ordered the fish as one of my entrées. Everyone else at the table had finished eating while I was still waiting. When I asked our waitress about it, she apologized and said it was being plated. After waiting another 10 minutes--with it now around 10:15 PM--we asked if the order could simply be canceled since it had already been 20-25 minutes. She agreed, but then returned and explained that the same employee had instructed her to tell us it would still be coming. He then came to our table and, in a rude and dismissive manner, told us that "the fish normally takes 10-15 minutes." That explanation made no sense given that we had already waited well beyond that time. We weren't rushing the kitchen--we had patiently waited over 20 minutes after everyone else had finished eating. As we left, my children commented that the interactions made them feel like we were being treated differently because of our race. I sincerely hope that wasn't the case. I want to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and believe this was the conduct of one individual rather than a reflection of Miss Alda as a whole. However, the behavior was significant enough that it changed what should have been a special family celebration. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome and respected. Unfortunately, this employee did the exact opposite. He appeared to be a white gentleman with a mustache, wearing a green shirt and a hat on the evening of our visit. I don't know his name, but management should know who he is. To anyone planning to visit Miss Alda, I hope your experience is better than ours. The food and our waitress deserved praise, but the conduct of this employee left us questioning whether we were treated fairly. That is not how anyone should feel when celebrating an important family milestone.
