He told me that he'd heard good things about the pizza here and thought we should order one, so we did. We got a mushroom pizza. It was going to take about 20 minutes to be ready so we finished up our other shopping and then went to pick it up. I am sorry to say to me the pizza had little merit. The dough was too thick too soft and underbaked. The sauce was bland. Tom liked it a bit better than I did but agreed that this pizza doesn't merit a repeat. I limit my carbs and this pizza isn't worth wasting a single one. Given that this was a trial of the pizza I will give it an overly generous 3 stars but it was more like a 2.5. I didn't want to change the star count for the store itself because essentially I am talking about just one product. So shop at the supermarket, pass on the pizza.

Previte's is our go-to supermarket. We are there nearly everyday…read more Pretty much everything we need is there, and we have very limited reasons to go to the large chain supermarkets around. Previte's offered to stock some of the things that would pull us away occasionally! Ron and team keep the produce on point. Routinely get deli meats, and various sandwiches. Everything is always great. Life causes a frequent need for premade foods and entrees. Calzones are awesome. Pizza is good in a pinch. Have had many premade entrees and lots of good options. Cheese, Montillio's desserts, Nona ice cream, and all the fresh meats keep us coming back. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating. Sometimes the lines get long but the staff is quick to open registers to move people along. Inside is great plenty of room for them to add more. Easy interior seating if you want to stay there and eat. Looking forward to seeing how to use the space to offer us more. Tons of local events outside, bringing local artisans and shops to the exterior. They can open an entire wall so you can walk into the produce area. All in all a great fixture in the community

They have some dry goods, some veggies, but their big thing seems to be the freezer in the corner, their raw meats, and the hot and cold food counter that caught my eye. They definitely have their fans, one of which took home their American Chop Suey and meatball sub, and was planning to drench it with more of their tasty sauce at home, that they already had from a previous visit. I went with their large Tom Turkey Sandwich for $10.95 (Thanksgiving sandwich) and paid at the register on the other side of the room. It was large indeed, and stuffed full. The only improvement would be if they'd have toasted the bread. Gotta remember to ask them to toast it before filling it, next time!

I love their store brand products, which are of much better quality than most other generic products. Plus, their deli and fresh fried fish were unmatched in my opinion. I was crushed to have to shop elsewhere on the South Shore. And then, a small miracle happened-- Big Y expanded to the South Shore. I was finally able to make a trip over to Kingston within the past few weeks and have decided-- without a doubt-- that I am no longer going to be shopping at my local Shaw's, and will drive the extra distance to shop here. And here's why: 1) I love their produce section. Lots of healthy, fresh, fine quality produce. Displays are neat, clean, well-stocked. Very good representation, lots of variety. 2) their deli hot and cold bar. I love that I can pick up a meal to-go that actually tastes and looks delicious. They have fresh-made sushi (you can watch the chef make it), a hot bar, a wing bar (with other fried appetizer foods), and a salad bar. 3) as I said above, I love the Big Y brand "generic" foods. Their salsa is far better than most branded jarred salsa I've had! You can save money by buying store brand, but you don't sacrifice quality here at Big Y. 4) helpful staff: everyone I've interacted with from produce to seafood to butcher counter are friendly, helpful and most important: knowledgeable. Most grocery stores can't say the same. Their employees just don't care-- these do. 5) fast checkout. Despite long lines the day before Thanksgiving, I didn't wait long to check out. I think that's an excellent representation of their day-to-day. As I said, I was a big fan before, but this Big Y is actually even better than the store I frequented in Western Mass. Check it out for yourself, if you haven't yet. I just can't think of a better grocery store.

One day last year I brought my daughter there, and in walked Steve Carell. That was a shock to both of us. He was so friendly to all the customers that it was a joy to see him. I meant to go back this August because that was the month we saw him. Other things I like there are amusing cocktail napkins and greeting cards. Also, the candy corner of the store reminds me of penny candy stores when I was a kid and is a nice place for children to visit. And the last time I was there I discovered that they had some good wines that I had never seen elsewhere. It is certainly one of Marshfield's treasures.

Now that the larger store is just steps away from my apartment building, I can run out for a couple of items and be back within 10 minutes. I do most of my shopping there, except for household items, and know that if something doesn't measure up, full refund, no questions asked. The newer store has a much broader frozen section for prepared dishes and the produce section has also been expanded with new items. They may not always be the cheapest compared to that monstrosity Market Basket, but the ease of shopping and friendly personnel make it worthwhile. And they pack my groceries like Tetris.
