Love this place. This place is far better than Shaws, Stop & Shop, Trucci's, and such. I like the layout, the wide array of products that are available, the quality of the store's fruits and vegetables, the massive numbers of choices of frozen and prepared foods and other items, the bakery department, the deli, and more. Furthermore, the store is always very clean and well kept. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, there have been several times where my sister and I were chatting together as we shopped about we are a certain item might be, and we were being relatively quiet we thought, and an employee would come over and interject tips about where we can find our products. While I would still give this supermarket a 5 star review I am updating to mention their pizza and their pizza only. Tom and I were in the area doing some shopping elsewhere. He told me that he'd heard good things about the pizza here and thought we should order one, so we did. We got a mushroom pizza. It was going to take about 20 minutes to be ready so we finished up our other shopping and then went to pick it up. I am sorry to say to me the pizza had little merit. The dough was too thick too soft and underbaked. The sauce was bland. Tom liked it a bit better than I did but agreed that this pizza doesn't merit a repeat. I limit my carbs and this pizza isn't worth wasting a single one. Given that this was a trial of the pizza I will give it an overly generous 3 stars but it was more like a 2.5. I didn't want to change the star count for the store itself because essentially I am talking about just one product. So shop at the supermarket, pass on the pizza. read more

Hanover Market Basket offers a lot in the grocery shopping experience. The prices are excellent, the products of good quality and the store is always clean and neat. Yes, it can be crowded but it's not like you're being knocked about. The vast majority of other customers always are pleasant enough whether I've been there at peak or 'off' hours. If you absolutely can't stand crowds (or are a rather unpleasant person), you should certainly go to one of Hanover's other grocery stores where there is much more room to contemplate the inflated prices. I love that virtually every cashier is usually open and there are none of those frustrating and annoying self-checkout areas. And the employees are always busy (cheerfully so) which seems to indicate a generally happy workforce. Market Basket has done it right and I am so glad they came to Hanover! read more

I don't get the hype. I literally hate the shopping experience. Too many people. Aisle arrangement is illogical, to me anyway. Customer service is abysmal. I'll hedge that while they give high schoolers a lot of opportunities, the balance with management if you need escalation isn't there. Frequently the shelves are in shambles, which is in part due to the droves of humanity murdering the place. Exactly two items I buy infrequently are a better price here so that appears to be all marketing to folks addicted to prepacked and premade items. One of those two just doubled in price so marginally better and not worth a trip. If the price is wrong at the register you have the privilege of getting to wait in a second 20-person deep Customer Service line! The meat is meh, same with fish. Have never tried the deli. One and done on meat, and occasionally come for lobsters since they steam them for you, if you want. Previte's is 5-min away and multiples of 100% better across the board. Forget going on a Sunday. If you choose to come here do it first thing in the morning or toward closing, or just avoid altogether. Sadly it's likely there the rest of my natural life, but better than another car dealership, only marginally though. read more

This is a fairly new location, being just over a year old. It is the very first location that I know of to be opened on the South Shore. I went to this location last week to pick up some items we needed for the house. They had most of what I was looking to buy in stock but they were out of a couple of the items that I had on my list. The deli counter is a pretty good one and it offers a great selection of cheeses and sandwich meats. There was a little bit of a line but there were three deli clerks working the counter so the line did move quickly. The store itself is nicely set up and the aisles all have good signage indicating what types of products are in each aisle. The shelves are all neatly organized and I saw a few workers fronting and facing all of the products on the shelves. They have a hot soup bar here and also a counter where they make sandwiches, sushi and pizza to order. Their bakery department is a very nice one and there were some delicious goodies on display. I saw a package of Italian cookies that looked pretty tasty so I added that to my shopping cart. When I got home and tried the cookies, they were so good that I was glad I decided to get them! The produce sold in the produce department all looked fresh and appetizing. At the front of the store there is a seating area where you can enjoy your prepared food items and there is also a public restroom in the same area. There is ample parking in the spacious parking lot outside the store. The store looks clean and new, the service was very good and I know for sure that I'll be back. read more

I used to shop here weekly and loved it, but I had to stop a while back because their produce quality often disappointed me. The melons were frequently unripe, and other fruits, like plums, were often bad. Although I usually buy organic and they have a minimal selection, I was okay with that because everything else was good. Given my experience, I would not recommend shopping here. read more

Very spacious supermarket with affordable pricing. It is near the Chick-fil-a. Besides the weekly sales, it also offers manager's specials. Good place to go if you are in the area and there is ample parking. There is a big dine in space for customers to grab a bite. read more

I have shopped at the MB in Sagamore and Plymouth for years and I was thrilled when one opened in Hanover. I shop every two weeks and spend a lot of time working on my "lists" and organizing it according to the store map. Lately, shopping in Hanover hasn't been a pleasant experience. ALL aisles are are being restocked. Food is not easily accessible...no one can get close enough to the food to make their selections and the "stockers" are in groups and ignore the customers need to get close enough to make a selection. No one can answer a question due to a language barrier so customer needs are ignored! I know this is a busy store but the majority of stocking can and should be done after hours. MB still has the very best jelly donuts! read more

Clogged aisles, language barriers, careless bagging, utter chaos. Pallets of items being stocked throughout the day make it arduous to navigate the aisles. Why? Because management is too cheap to pay workers for overnight stocking shifts so they do it during store hours. This market is within walking distance of my apartment but I go there now only for a quick in and out for sheep's milk feta, Bell & Evans chicken, a piece of fish, and specific dairy products. Otherwise the store is a nightmare, and management doesn't appear to care an iota about customer retention. It's all about the appearance of bargains. No bargain when your produce is close to expiring and your meats are mostly factory farmed. The store has been in Hanover for over two years but they've never become part of this community. No charitable donations to the food pantry, no engagement with the COA. Better choices all around us; Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop, Prevites, Good Health, and more (a drive to Fruit Center Marketplace in Hingham is a foodie's dream). read more

Prices are usually good. Although MB prices are on the rise and other stores are coming down or having nice sales. Deli ordered thin sliced and got one or two pieces cut thin, then thicker and thicker as the order was cut. The cheese was cut thick despite saying thin several times. To the point where the woman behind me spoke up and said she wants ... thin. She made me laugh. And said well, he's too busy talking with his friends to listen. She was correct. Several of the review speak about the rude employees, umm, well when there are 4 to 6 employees, congregating in one isle and the shoppers cannot pass I agree that is not acceptable. Excellent store, prices are typically less than other grocery stores in the area, especially Stop & Shop which is highway robbery. But why do they sell organic spinach in large hard plastic containers. Whole Foods sells it in plastic bags which is much more environmentally friendly. Sooo happy to have a Market Basket close to home now! There's something extra-special about Market Basket besides the good prices and selection. I LOVE the old-school appearance of their employees in their button-down shirts, neckties, aprons and jackets; their professional appearance sends a message of RESPECT for the store, the customer, and their fellow employees. Store is spotless inside and out. always washing windows too. When have you ever seen that anywhere? Largest selection of fish of all local Supermarkets. Meat are about on par with others only a larger selection of cuts and brands of meats. Deli has all the same meats but offers a selection of low sodium and trim or no fat meats. Massive selection of Ice Cream, frozen foods. Kemps frozen yogurt not available anywhere is the best and beats ice cream hands down. You just select and know your fresh veggies and fruits. Room for improvement offers more to choose than most. People comment on the pallets of restocking in the isles, crowds and employees. MB is constantly stocking the shelves even at night like the others. If you shop first thing in the morning you would see that the shelves are all fully stocked. This is due to the shear volume of customers during the day. The place is packed and that is not for nothing. People love this place. I will say that every register is open and they even run portable registers to speed things up. The lines can be long but they absolutely fly. Very fast. Most places half the registers are closed and clerks are slow and have an attitude. The donuts are the best anywhere and the coffee puts the local coffee chain to shame at half the price. Many make MB their coffee stop mornings. Lots of fresh bake goods. The check out clerks are at very clean and neatly groomed. Employees are the politest people I have seen lately working in any store. Tuesday and Wednesday morning are the best times to shop there if you are crying about the crowds. Don't expect to go there at 11 A.M. on a Saturday morning to see nobody in line and two registers open. Try getting out of bed earlier if you want to be the only one in the most crowded supermarket. It is not crowded for nothing. All others are sub par in every category. I shop there on a weekday morning at opening or with a half hour of opening and I almost have the place to myself. The other supermarkets in the area have had their business cut in half as well as the local wholesale club since this MB opened. It is called competition. The American way and that is healthy. Improve your store or lose customers it is that simple. The markets that had long time monopoly here were dirty, high prices and employees with severe attitude issues. If you want to avoid crowds mid day Saturday, try going back to the status qou, they are half empty. read more

I've been to the Market Basket in Hanover a lot, it's a good store but like others have said the workers are not that friendly! We had one worker rudely answer my wife, twice! He was lucky I didn't hear him! I complained to corporate about him! I also told them that their workers need training on how to deal with customers! A lot of time they will push their way through a crowd and make customers move out of their way! You do have to watch prices, something's are cheaper in other stores! read more

I love the Hanover Ma Market Basket mainly for the wide variety of products offered in the store. I generally will do a major grocery shopping every two or three weeks at Market Basket. I do have an issue though with being overcharged for certain items. I always check receipts regardless of where I shop. On almost every visit there is an overcharge on my receipt at MB. The overcharge can range from fifty cents to a couple of dollars. My overcharges are often on sale items that ring up at regular prices. It is typically not worth it to me to go back to the store for a refund after a couple of weeks. So as one reviewer here mentioned, check your receipt folks. read more

It appeared to me the majority of workers at the Hanover, MA store lack basic english skills. During checkout the bagger, an elderly man, could NOT speak english. He was actually trying to teach the teenage cashier how to speak his language! Seriously! How is it even possible for a person to have a job if they can't speak english??? This store is HUGE and has pretty much have everything you could want or need. They have lots of goods with most of their prices beating the other local supermarkets. Started going here more often because they have plastic bags. Can't stand just paper bags that always rip and never hold enough items plus they are good for cleaning cat's litter box. Ample parking. They have plenty of registers open and lots of clerks working. Never had a problem with the workers they are always nice and friendly, in fact I left a bag on the register by accident as I was walking to my car a clerk brought it out to me. Expressway exit and a Chick-fil-A are close by. Ample parking. I should also note they have some products that other local supermarkets don't have. I was able to get breaded frozen clam strips that the local market close to where we live never has them even after I asked if they could order it. Kids love those clam rolls.
