This is a great local store for gift shopping. I got one of my favorite pairs of earrings there and a charming serving dish. I've received compliments on both. One day last year I brought my daughter there, and in walked Steve Carell. That was a shock to both of us. He was so friendly to all the customers that it was a joy to see him. I meant to go back this August because that was the month we saw him. Other things I like there are amusing cocktail napkins and greeting cards. Also, the candy corner of the store reminds me of penny candy stores when I was a kid and is a nice place for children to visit. And the last time I was there I discovered that they had some good wines that I had never seen elsewhere. It is certainly one of Marshfield's treasures. read more

Since we were staying in Marshfield I searched for things to do in the area and this store popped up. So, I figured, what the heck, let's travel down the road and check it out. Even if Steve Carrel and his wife didn't own the store, it was worth stopping by. The store has so much charm and nostalgia. If the bench on the porch weren't occupied, we would have sat there eating our taffy and soda and enjoyed the serenity. There are about 5 parking spaces in front of the store and a dirt turn out on the side. read more

It baffles me how a store like this refuses restroom use to paying customers. There is no public restroom for miles around. This store serves baked goods and loads of coffee. Yet customers are supposed to patronize with no restroom access? Makes no sense. Plan ahead if you go here. read more

This store is must-stop for any Steve Carrell stalker or fan of "The Office." Mr. Carrell, also known as Michael Scott, bought this store back in 2008 to save it from the wrecking ball. He apparently even tends the cash register every Thanksgiving eve as a way of reducing employment costs. I hoped Mr. Carrell would bring some much needed Hollywood glitz to the sleepy Marshfield streets. I regret to inform you that this is not the case. Besides a few signed Carrell hats and Office chotskies, the store is very ho-hum. It's very small for even a General Store and and has a limited selection of foodstuffs. While the disadvantage of big box stores like Wal-Mart took is the impersonal customer experience, this general store felt the same and didn't offer any local charm. The cashier, in my visit, made sure to avoid eye contact with me until the point of sale. Steve Carrell - if you are reading this - you need to bring Gordon Ramsey into this store and whip it back into shape. Please make Marshsfield proud again! read more

What am awesome store! We stopped by here on our way up to Maine and I've heard so much about it and have always wanted to check it out! So many delicious items to choose from including pastries and coffee. I snagged a t-shirt that was autographed by Steve Carell (he and his wife own the store). A neat little stop off the beaten path - in Marshfield Hills in a building where they used to sew uniforms for the Union Army soldiers - all spiffed up now. Good "little store" fare - i.e.: "Penny candy," newspapers, hot coffee, fresh popped popcorn - a small selection of groceries, milk, "tonic" etc., and a decent selection of wines - it's a bit like going back in time. read more

A beautiful, old building in a beautiful part of town. They've done a great job renovating the place. It's handicap accessible. Actors/comedians Steve Carell and his wife Nancy Walls-Carell own the place. They also sell Simpson Spring soda, and dairy products from Hornstra Farms. Simpson Spring is based in Easton. They also sell dairy products from Hornstra Farms. I like the coffee milk. You might want to grab a map if you're not familiar with Marshfield Hills. I'm a Connecticut native, but my family has a cottage in Plymouth where I spent all my summers as a child. I've known about the store for a long time, but my family just never got over there. A video of Steve Carell talking about the store on Ellen has been going around Facebook and it reminded me and made me ask myself if I was here chilling in Plymouth all by myself, why have I not gone? It's quite adorable. The parking is pretty rough, but it's typical for small New England towns. The store itself is not all that small like some other reviews have claimed; it's not massive, but again, typical for a small New England town. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the stuff they carry. I was sort of expected a Cumberland Farms, but not only does it have little snack foods (and a LARGE wine selection at a decent price), but it has lots of little trinkets, toys, and gifts. It's a sweet little shop and I was utterly charmed. The cashier (maybe Bob or Bill or Mike?) was very friendly, engaged me in conversation about the store (and complimented my appearance several times!). All in all a detour well spent. Worth a visit if you're in the area, for sure. read more

Nothing says awesome like sitting on the front porch of an olden timey country store having an ice cream in the summer time. Marshfield is a breath of fresh air and a great place to drive through or search out a beach to have picnic, sunbath, make sand art or swim (Humarock Beach or Brant Rock are not too far away). Super cute interior with some kitch but excellent selection for your picnic. There is a post office right next to the store - overflowing with Americana. I look forward to my first ice cream of the season on the front porch of this adorably relaxing country store. read more

Great location, super nice staff. The building is previous and off the tourist beaten path. Pros: some nice locally made soaps and food products, penny candy and coffee. The cons: too much teenage glitter junk. Get rid of that, add more local items maybe some old timey toys, fresh ice cream and you've got it made.
