Used to be great. Now it's just awful. The last time I went in, there was hardly any selection, everything was almost empty and it wasn't near a holiday. The few items that were there did not look good. I was going to buy one of their "used to be awesome" turkey sandwiches and took one look at it and put it back. I walked out with nothing even though I had plans to buy a lot of things because it used to be so good . You're better off at the McDonald's down the street, sadly. I really hate to leave them a bad review; I grew up getting our turkeys for Thanksgiving from them every year (for 20 years). I was just so shocked at the drop in quality the last time I was there I feel like I should warn people. Ambience is awful too. It's very dark in there and food selection is limited. Their turkey sandwiches are absolute must haves for anytime of year, especially for summer beach picnics--the farm is close to some of the South Shore's best beaches. They also have a wide range of prepared food to take home, including soups, roast chicken meals (a personal favorite), stuffed peppers, meatloaf, and of course, turkey pot pies. I come for the turkey sandwiches (I ate them twice in one week) and because I'm a true New Englander, they must have mayo AND cranberry sauce--but Gerard's makes them without mayo and/or cranberry for the posers! So many options for hot food, fried chicken, side salads and frozen entrees in an adorable country store setting. Honestly, too much to mention. There was even pie for dessert. Get down here! Very disappointed. Purchased Asian wings on Tuesday for an event feeling they would be better than any grocery store/deli bought wings. These wings were clearly not cooked day of or even day prior. They were overcooked and dry, not meaty and tasteless. Probably made over the weekend. Sad. I remember when you could rely on this place for a good product. Went there looking forward to having one of their sandwiches and was told they only sell them with half wheat bread and half white bread. What?? We don't like wheat, we both wanted a sandwich on white bread. Nope, wouldn't budge. And the only reason was "we've been doing it this way for 50 years". Wow, way to gain new customers. Never been here, before today. When you get in it can be confusing because the signs do not really stand out. I walked around a few minutes before someone greeted me. They do not make special sandwiches and everything is premade which is kind of lazy to me. I like my food fresh. They have items that you can buy to make at home. Everything is overpriced and under portion in weight. I got the turkey sandwich and a clam chowder. It was about $12 something with a drink. The turkey sandwich was pretty sad. The meat was good, but they were cheap on the portion. The $3.67 clam chowder was not worth the money. The service like the food here was lacking for me to come back. read more

Love this place. I discovered it on the way to the marshfield airport. My first time there I got a few turkey pot pies and turkey croquettes. All were frozen, but after following the cooking instructions they came out perfectly. I remember really wanting one of their stuffed chickens so I came back today on my way back from the cape and picked up some more croquettes, pot pies, and my stuffed chicken. I split a whole one with my girlfriend which for about 14 dollars covered dinner tonight, and lunch for tomorrow. The chicken was juicy and the stuffing is very tasty and moist. To help further, they pack gravy with the chicken. One of the best parts about these pot pies is they come with a great deal of variety. -Pot pie mixed (dark and white meat + veggies) -All white + veggies -All dark + veggies -All dark no veggies -All white no veggies -Only meat (white and dark) When I have been in there I didn't happen to notice too many tourist types so that was definitely a good sign. This is definitely a place I will look to go to whenever I am in the area and I would suggest other to do the same. read more

Susan McCabe the sister of the Mark McCabe owner of Gerards is very unprofessional. She doesn't have the customer service skills that are required when working with public. I called on Sun Aug 1st 2021 to share my disappointment with product i purchased. She was extremely rude, kept talking over me. She didn't have any interest in hearing what i had to say. I asked her not to treat me the way she was treating me but she continued and then she laughed and said have a great day and hung up. Word of mouth is the best advertising and i will share this experience with others. Susan needs to smile while running the register and show an interest in her customers . Went there on Thursday to pick up Turkey Pot Pies for New Year's Eve. Well we just cooked them and it left the 7 of us asking a terrible question on a holiday..."what's for dinner?" The pies were over price and contained lots and lots of gravy, a minimal amount of turkey and nothin else except a tasteless mealy crust. To call it a disappointment would be an overstatement. This place was my first job. I hate this place. That being said, I still love the food. BUT the people are just god-awful terrible and mean. They are literally so mean I would go home crying all of the time - and I'm a good, hard worker. I was even yelled at when I asked in advance to have my confirmation day off, and was scheduled anyway. THEN when I brought it up, I was told I'd lose my job if I didn't go into work. I didn't go to work, and didn't lose my job because my mother called - yet, the the woman also gave her crap for calling on my behalf. (It was for a religious ceremony - one of my sacraments - and no way was I going to skip it for minimum wage pay.) I've seen them be horrible to customers so many times. They know they have a gold mine. They know they don't need to be nice. So they aren't. And the sandwiches used to be $4.75 in 2002 when I worked there - now they are over $6. I literally used to make 400 of those a day, and they would ALL sell. How can't they afford to pay over minimum wage? Oh right, they can -- they just don't. I hate to give them business, so I rarely do. And I rarely recommend them, despite how good the food is. read more

I'm not a huge fan of turkey meals, yet for some reason I same to love a good Thanksgiving style turkey. After finding Bongi's was closed (dammit), I drove the 15 minutes over to Gerard to give them a try. When I walked in, I was a little surprised, as it was a full-fledged country store rather than just a place that sells turkey (and chicken) items. Walk in and on your right is the hot, prepared food section. On the left is the canned goods section, along with their deli and fridge and frozen food section, which includes frozen chicken and turkey pot pies, turkey dinners and other things made in-house. The prepared goods section had turkey dinners, chicken dinners, fried chicken wings and all the fixins like mac n cheese, cole slaw, french fries and more. I ended up trying a bit of the mac n cheese, which was fantastic. When I finally decided, I ended up ordering an open faced turkey sandwich. Having not eaten the whole day, it always stood the chance of being better than it was. Well, two things they messed up. I asked for just the sandwich and they gave me mashed potatoes which I hadn't asked for, and which ended up tasting a little like they're out of a box, so that was an extra I wasn't super excited about. The gravy was just ok. The turkey was pretty good but it wasn't hot. In fact it was slightly cool. If it were warm, I think it would probably be fantastic. I'm guessing prepared foods really aren't their specialty. If you're in the area, I'd still recommend them. Maybe try something from the fridge or frozen section so you can heat it up yourself to the point you'd enjoy. read more

This place serves up Thanksgiving all year long! Gerard Farm looks sort of like a little local grocery shop. There's a good selection of homemade frozen foods (turkey pot pies, turkey croquettes, chicken/eggplant/veal parm, chicken cacciatore, quiches, soups, etc.) that admittedly, I haven't tried most of, but they are great for dinner in a pinch, and affordably priced. *The turkey pies/pot pies are yummy!* There's also a section to place "hot meal" orders; baby back ribs, chicken wings/tenders, turkey or chicken dinners, roasted turkey legs!, pulled pork, etc. *They're sort of known for whole turkey orders, they do 2 roasts daily, and they offer whole meals including everything you normally have @ Thanksgiving. Including pies! The prices are actually really reasonable too, especially considering the convenience factor of NOT having to cook up a giant turkey dinner!* They have a little selection of imported mustards, crackers, etc. *sort of random, right?* You can also get a bunch of side items (butternut squash, mashed potatoes, tortellini salad, au gratin potatoes, etc) and turkey sandwiches. *Great for picking up turkey sandwiches and sodas and driving 5 minutes to the beach during the summer!* Great for convenience, good prices, and good food, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go here. This place is great! The store has a totally small-town-farm-y sort of feel to it, and the folks who work there are, of course, all locals. Phone in your order for Thanksgiving early, though - they sell out fast! Their sides are flavorrific and generous, but their gravy is not the best - I can make my own much better - probably because I take like 2 hours to do it. BUT - if you want to have 90% of the work done for Thanksgiving dinner, and you're in the area, DEFINITELY call these guys. Just remember: two weeks in advance at least!! read more

I have been going to Gerard's "forever" it seems. When I was a kid, we would stop and buy a turkey sandwich and eat it at the Cannel. It signified the beginning of vacation. Mom would pick up stuff for our first few days and we were off... As an adult I have moved to the Cape, and go up to Gerard's several times a year, mostly for the fresh turkeys. Usually it is just a fresh one to be prepared at home, a must for Thanksgiving. Last week we got one to do on the grill, may I say better than ever? It was off the charts. The prepared food, including the turkeys, are consistently wonderful, although I do tend to only buy turkey related products. We have not tried any of the Italian offerings. If you are in the area, or traveling to the Cape on route 3, take the time to swing off and give it a try. I think you will find it worth you time. read more

Our family decided to spend Thanksgiving in Marshfield/ Plymouth. We came up from GA and VA. I found Gerard Farm on Yelp and we decided to order an entire turkey dinner for our Thanksgiving meal. We were very pleased. The whole turkey itself was excellent. We also had gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, rolls and a few pies. We loved everything. I went to Gerard Farm today in Marshfield and partook in their famous Turkey Sandwich. It's pre-made and comes as is. As is is perfect. They use both white and wheat bread but flip them after cutting for packaging and contrast visual effect. There's a sign stating "NO SPECIAL SANDWICHES", that the miserable old man in me loved. Thinly sliced moist turkey, stuffing, cranberry and mayo. What else could one ask for. They do offer much more and most is homemade. The baked beans and devilled eggs peaked my interest but i just doubled up on the samich. I chose right. read more

it wouldn't be summer without a gerard turkey farm thanksgiving sandwich(with or without mayo) they make them as wraps now but definitely not as good. the white wheat combo of bread makes the whole thing taste that uch better don't question it. My 7 year old is addicted to their clam chowder and my husband found some divine cheese spread! bottom line love this place, can get pricey so don't venture too far of course! if you do though you will see that everything they serve fresh they also freeze for you to take home and cook later! I just liked how it looked and begged my mom to buy it. Now I make my own recipe, but still think of Gerard's Farm when I make ambrosia!
