After my third or fourth (I've lost track) happy encounter with Jon at Shawnee Optix today I looked to see if I had written a review. It's definitely time! Two or three years ago a temple broke off my glasses. My search for a repair shop brought me to Shawnee Optix. Jon happily took a look at my glasses. Unfortunately, they could not be repaired. But, Jon looked everywhere in his shop to find a frame that would hold my lenses. He finally found a very comfortable and stylish pair that was close enough to work. I wore those for months until my prescription was updated. Then, I visited Jon and he helped me find new frames and ordered new glasses. While I was at it I ordered new lenses for the replacement frames I had ordered earlier. I was so pleased to have two current pairs of glasses! When my nearly three year old frames started showing signs of wear, I checked in with Jon to see if he could order replacement frames. He searched his stock and let me know he would check with his supplier. The next message I received from Jon was that he had located and ordered my exact frames! Today I stopped by and he switched out the lenses into my new frames which he offered at a very reasonable price. I think it's kind of misleading to state "we can fix any eyeglass frame" because this is obviously not true, at least in my instance. I brought in my fav frames whose arms could not be reattached. Disappointed because I loved them so much. But the upside is that the owner was able to find frames that he could insert my lens in and that allowed me to have a new pair for a reasonable price that I could walk out with. read more

A few years ago, I had to break down and buy glasses. So, I went to America's. What a HUGE mistake! I will never go there again. I ended up having to pay a whole lot more than what was originally advertised and the lenses ended up getting scratched up quite quickly even though I followed instructions on how to keep them clean. Regardless, I saw a Groupon for $40 for an eye exam and then a $200 credit for glasses. I ended up buying a set of eye glasses with designer frames and a set of prescription sunglasses with designer frames and with the credit, paid around $300 for both pairs. The eye exam was very comprehensive and one of the best I've had since I went in for an official eye Exam when Kaiser-Permanente was here in the mid-90s. I have purchased designer frames multiple times from Shawnee Optix. I love rimless frames, and Shawnee Optix has always been the least expensive by far. I just purchased another designer frame with upgraded high refractive index lenses because they are thin and the optics are great. My wife lost her clip-on sunglasses for her prescription glasses. I Googled the clip-on make and model number and found them at EyeDoctorShop.com (aka Shanee Optix). I ordered the model number I needed (M242) and they shipped the wrong model number (M244). When I called Jon said he thought it was close - it was not close they were two different shapes. I returned the glasses and they sent me a refund but they did NOT refund the $5.50 return shipping charges. So it cost me $5.50 for them to make a mistake! I too would give the owner of Shawnee Optix and Eyeglassframes4less.com no stars. The man didn't give a receipt. He lied and told someone he had. Then, he lied again to the Better Business Bureau and said he never sold me anything and that I couldn't prove it, as I didn't have a receipt, the very thing I asked for. I wonder if there's no receipt, as he's not reporting all of his income, cause I can't think of another reason a reputable business wouldn't issue a proof of purchase. I purchased a groupon and went in the lady was very nice and worked with me to pick out a pair of glasses. They gave me a better deal in store until i mentioned the groupon then the price went up. So I didn't use the groupon. 25 in the trash. Jon the owner is not a very personable person. He always seem distracted and annoyed to me. But I was saving a lot of money to let him make my glasses. After a few weeks I was still not adjusting to my glasses and kept seeing shadow lines so I took them back. The lady said she had never heard of that happening to anyone before and sent me to the other location at 119th and Metcalf approx. Where Jon told me to go back and drop them off at Johnson Drive location I had just left and he would remake them. So I did and when I got them back they seemed a little off but I thought I was readjusting to new glasses again so I wore them and waited. But I never adjusted so I took them back again and was told again nothing wrong with glasses. So I took them to a friend who also makes glasses and was told the glass manufacture was sub par and the lenses that were supposed to be Flexon were a knock off. In addition, the prescription was wrong. The lenses had been either measured incorrectly or the lab had made an error. At any rate, it didn't matter how long I wore them I would never adjust to them. I took them back and Jon did give me a refund after repeating several times that he was loosing money on the deal. Well, I waited 2 weeks to get glasses that didn't work. Drove all over town to be sent back to where I started twice. Only to find out the quality glasses I ordered were not quality at all. Don't waste your time getting glasses here. read more
