Initial consultation was with Dr Durrie himself, and the surgery was done by Dr Stahl. I appreciate all the work they have done. Over ten tests were performed on my eyes before starting doctor showed up. Dr Durrie went over the whole procedure in the consultation, told me about side effects. They have also warned me that there is a chance that this may not be permanent. Once I've confirmed that I would like to get the procedure done, I've talked to Brian about financing options and left happy (you just can not beat %0 financing). On the day of procedure they numbed my eyes (I declined taking Valium), explained to me everything once again, step by step, and warned me that they will be telling me what to do once the procedure starts. Oh, boy, those 5 minutes went by so fast. Procedure was painless, but a little uncomfortable. Once I got up from the surgical bed, I was able to tell the difference, my vision has changed. Forgot to mention that my husband was in a waiting room watching the procedure on TV with a nurse that went into detail explaining what was going on. I was sensitive to light for a few days, just as they said I would be, but artificial tears and sunglasses helped a ton. When you sign contract with these people they tell you there is a two year guarantee for the services performed. Well, I have forgotten about this, but they did not. They have called me about two weeks ago to remind that I need to be seen, as my guarantee will end in two months and they want to make sure I have no concerns they can help with. Say WHAT??? Can you imagine dealer calling you to ask if everything is ok with your car, as your guarantee wears out in two months?? I can't, as it does not happen. Durrie Vision does, because they care and they believe in the product they deliver. They won my heart and my business and I am so happy we chose them almost two years ago. This is where my rating went from ALL the stars allowed to 2 stars. After choosing frames from the clearance rack, that would be 100% covered by my insurance, and making verbal note of my limited funds, I was handed a bill for $690.00 AFTER insurance deductions. Just bifocals, BTW. I was able to get them to drop one level on lens material, for $100 less. He said it was better anyway, but did not explain why he initially put a lower quality, higher priced option on. I was then told that the glasses would be ready in "no more than two weeks" and I would get a phone call. This was the first of four promised phone calls I never received. Three days later, I went to another eyeglass place, ordered a nearly identical pair of bifocals, but tinted, for sunglasses, and a pair of single vison, computer desk glasses, both with every coating available, and both pair with no insurance coverage at all, and paid a total of 1/3 the amount I paid Thompson Eye Clinic, for the single pair. 6 days later, I had both pairs in hand, and they were perfect. At the two week point, I called to see when I could come in, and was told they were not ready, but he would find out why and get back to me. Several days later, after hearing nothing, I called again. He said they still weren't in, and the status made him think something was wrong. I was placed on hold for nearly 20 minutes to then be told my first lenses were broken during grinding, so they had to start over. Then my second pair failed inspection, so they were starting over a third time, so it would be "another couple days, he would call me." I heard nothing, so called back 2 days later, and found the office was closed for that entire day. I waited until the next Monday, (today) STILL having received no calls, and was cheerfully told we were "right on track" to have them in THREE MORE DAYS (that is IF everything goes well)... The ONLY reason I agreed to pay more, for my glasses at this facility was that the Dr. and the Optometrist insisted the technicians was more qualified, and the lab was better. At this point, I have been without my everyday glasses for over a month, can't read, can't comfortably drive or watch TV, and have headaches. I have ZERO confidence in the lab making their THIRD (at least) attempt at grinding my lenses, have never once received a call from anyone at the office, and am out a ridiculous amount of money.

They numbed my eyes, did the laser procedure, and in about five minutes, they told me to sit up--and I could actually see the clock clearly for the first time. My eyes improved so much after that first surgery, but because my prescription was so strong, we did a quick enhancement yesterday. Now I'm seeing 20/15! It's perfect. The second procedure was simple, painless, and such a breeze. Everyone here is incredibly kind, polite, and professional. The whole experience has been amazing from start to finish. They even offer CareCredit, which allowed me to pay with zero interest--just $165 a month for two years--and it's paid off. The best part? If you ever need a touch-up, they'll do it free of charge. I can't recommend this place enough. It's truly life-changing.

My son was prescribed bifocals (he's 9 yrs old - apparently this is somewhat common in kids of his age.) Here's the kicker...after 6 weeks, my son hates the bifocals. He doesn't wear them. He can't get used to the line, he struggles to get used to the change in the lenses, and they give him more headaches than he had before he got them, just because he isn't using them like he's supposed to. He's just not adjusting well. I called Eck back, and asked what they could do. They got us in the same day - checked his eyes again, checked the glassed to make sure they were made properly, and talked with my son to see exactly what his issues were. After evaluating him, it was determined that maybe bifocals just weren't right for him. Dr. Eck exchanged the bifocal glasses for distance lenses at no additional cost to us since his insurance had already been used up on the bifocals, and gave us an over the counter prescription for reading glasses that he can get anywhere for just a few dollars a pair. I found readers (4 pair for $12) that fit him well and looked great on his face at Walmart, and got the distance glasses for his everyday glasses from Dr. Eck's office with the frames he originally picked out for his bifocals from earlier. Everything worked out spectacularly! Thank you to Dr. Eck and the team for treating us wonderfully - I expected things to go "less than perfect" and they met our needs with complete satisfaction and no stress! Now - the ONLY ISSUE - why don't you give your patrons who get eyeglasses cases for the glasses? THAT is the ONLY STRANGE THING I have to say. Oh yes, I asked what their "non-insurance price" is for an eye exam...it is $90. FYI.

However, when he attempted to inject lidocaine into my eyelid before the procedure, he injected the lidocaine into my left eye. The lidocaine included ingredients toxic to my eye, leading to excruciating pain, permanent eye damage, and disfigurement. As you can see by the attached picture, my eye is permanently disfigured. I was only 34 years old at the time of the incident, and it has caused immeasurable distress in my life. To make things worse, neither Dr. Chappell nor his employer, Moyes Eye Center, have taken any responsibility for their actions, despite Dr. Chappell admitting this under oath during his deposition: Q. Are you aware that one of the allegations in this case is that you inadvertently injected Lidocaine into her eye? A. Yes. Q. Are you able to rule out that that occurred during the procedure? ** A. I cannot rule it out. ** A. There's a number of possible causes for her postoperative post-procedure course. Q. And I know you went through some of them with me, but my question for you is are you aware if the doctors at Moyes who were -- who saw Ms. Dehnert in 2022, if you all were able to reach a consensus about the cause of her postoperative issues? A. Through many discussions and many evaluations, we have possible intraocular injection of medication as the most likely cause, with a number of other possible causes. I have been forced to hire an attorney and this matter remains unresolved, with Dr. Chappell denying my claims and offering me no compensation for my injuries. I am a single mom to a young daughter, which makes the emotional and financial stress of this incident even worse.
