I signed up for a free consultation but when I arrived I was told since I had been seen there before they would not see me without collecting $275.00 since I was an "established patient". I was shocked. I had signed up for the free consultation. They refused to see me. I reiterated that I signed up for a free consultation and I hadn't been seen there in years and am interested in a surgery that I would be paying thousands of dollars for. They still would not see me without collecting the 275.00. I reached out to my friend and she stated she also had her Lasik surgery done there and her 2nd consultation was free. She also stated that when she was unsure if she was going to move forward with the surgery since it is not covered by insurance and costs nearly 10,000.00 they DISCOUNTED IT BY 1,000 PER EYE!!! I know this sounds a bit petty of me as I am willing to pay thousands for a procedure but it is on principle at this point. Durrie you just lost a sale for not willing to compromise on the 275.00 office visit of an "established Patient" that hadn't been there in years that signed up for a free consultation. I guess that is why the waiting room and parking lot is empty. You should probably review those polices for people like me. You are loosing business. I had an interesting issue come up…read morewith my eye and Hunkler was able to get in the very next day after lots of research (and a competing practice recommendation) on who may also be able to accommodate me if I needed additional support like surgery or a more invasive procedure than steroid drops. Specifically went to see Dr. Hunt! They have very good prices which is what I needed at least in the fact finding stage. Once I was diagnosed with a granuloma and steroid drops did what they could-my very next appointment (2nd time in) was an extremely efficient procedure, which eradicated the issue. Dr. West knew exactly what to do, and made it quick and painless. She did not charge me an arm and a leg and I am very grateful! The staff is super friendly and they will get you in quickly! After my procedure follow up visit, I'm a very happy patient (it was also free of charge). Nice to get quality care AND not be charged a fortune! Thank you Dr. West and Hunkler Eye Institute!

I was told I was correct, I did not receive a text message reminder. I then asked they waive the late fee. I was told to talk to Dr. Gershon's office. I used to see Dr. Johnson at the Olathe office, a wonderful doctor, but had to switch offices. I spoke with the office today at my 8 am appointment for which I drove from Lawrence, Kansas. I was told, I was sent the text, I read the text reminder for July, they had proof and I had to pay the late fee by Dr. Gershon's assistant. I said, "we are through." His assistant said, "fine." I left in tears. I did nothing wrong. I am a 58 year old woman and I do not deserve to be treated this way and I will NOT EVER go back and neither will any member of my family. Please be aware. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

A much better vibe than our previous eye doctor in Leawood. Let me start by saying Dr. Niebuhr is amazing! I told her my complaints of wearing contacts and how they felt on my eyes. She did her magic (took measurements) and gave me a sample pair and the rest is history. Apparently I have different vision per eyeball and more of an astigmatism on my left. So far so good, I don't even feel them in my eyes at all! My previous doc said I had the same vision in both eyes but for whatever reason i still had the same complaints that my eyes just wouldn't cooperate and I would get headaches frequently while wearing contacts. Now I know why! ‍ Luckily a friend recommended Grin eye care a few months ago and I think I found our new family eye doctor! I'll be sure to follow up if things start to go south...

This is where my rating went from ALL the stars allowed to 2 stars. After choosing frames from the clearance rack, that would be 100% covered by my insurance, and making verbal note of my limited funds, I was handed a bill for $690.00 AFTER insurance deductions. Just bifocals, BTW. I was able to get them to drop one level on lens material, for $100 less. He said it was better anyway, but did not explain why he initially put a lower quality, higher priced option on. I was then told that the glasses would be ready in "no more than two weeks" and I would get a phone call. This was the first of four promised phone calls I never received. Three days later, I went to another eyeglass place, ordered a nearly identical pair of bifocals, but tinted, for sunglasses, and a pair of single vison, computer desk glasses, both with every coating available, and both pair with no insurance coverage at all, and paid a total of 1/3 the amount I paid Thompson Eye Clinic, for the single pair. 6 days later, I had both pairs in hand, and they were perfect. At the two week point, I called to see when I could come in, and was told they were not ready, but he would find out why and get back to me. Several days later, after hearing nothing, I called again. He said they still weren't in, and the status made him think something was wrong. I was placed on hold for nearly 20 minutes to then be told my first lenses were broken during grinding, so they had to start over. Then my second pair failed inspection, so they were starting over a third time, so it would be "another couple days, he would call me." I heard nothing, so called back 2 days later, and found the office was closed for that entire day. I waited until the next Monday, (today) STILL having received no calls, and was cheerfully told we were "right on track" to have them in THREE MORE DAYS (that is IF everything goes well)... The ONLY reason I agreed to pay more, for my glasses at this facility was that the Dr. and the Optometrist insisted the technicians was more qualified, and the lab was better. At this point, I have been without my everyday glasses for over a month, can't read, can't comfortably drive or watch TV, and have headaches. I have ZERO confidence in the lab making their THIRD (at least) attempt at grinding my lenses, have never once received a call from anyone at the office, and am out a ridiculous amount of money.

This was my first visit and I found everyone to be quite friendly. The check in process was smooth,…read morealthough I do prefer when a facility can email you the "check-in" forms or have a patient portal to get those filled out in advance. The waiting area was very comfortable and they seemed to offer a good variety of frames and products. I was seen quickly for my appointment. There was a little issue with one of the machines during my tests, but the staff was efficient and helpful to one another to get the machine reset. The room where they do a few pre-tests has a tall "stool" chair to sit on for the tests which isn't the most accommodating. I asked if the chair could be lowered (since the test table can be lowered) and she could not lower it. I chose to stand for the tests, which did work, but it would be nice if a bit more consideration could be made for people who were unable to get into a tall seat. I did notice later that they had a little folding step stool nearby, perhaps that is their work around, but it wasn't offered to me. I still would have preferred a lower seat since the table could be lowered. I didn't opt to purchase glasses following my visit because my insurance didn't cover enough of the fees; however, I was given some advice about the product that I was planning to purchase (transition lenses) which I found to be very informative. I appreciated their no-pressure approach with the post-exam. Other offices (different brand) nearly hold your ankles as you try to leave without purchasing glasses through them. She simply assured me that my information was on file and that I was welcome to come in and look around if I were to change my mind.

The doctor who saw me was Jason Green. He was very kind and good at explaining what was going on. I got my pupils dilated, which I have never had done before. I have pretty bad anxiety, and I started to have a panic attack. One of my worst fears is not being able to see, so I think that caused me to start to panic. When your pupils are dilated, you cannot see up close very well. Dr. Green was extremely patient, and even though he was running behind, he let me take a break and helped me calm down, and made me feel better by telling me stories. I don't usually have panic attacks, and was surprised that this came on so quickly. He was very helpful throughout the whole process. The front desk gal took the time to run both of my insurances to get me the best price, which the screening ended up being free through my Blue Cross insurance vs Davis Vision. I just wanted to come on here and thank all the staff who helped me at my appointment. Thank you for making me feel comfortable and being so kind.

(less than a business day from my appointment) They did not inform me when I MADE the appointment that this change would be implemented, so I had to search for another practice if I did not want to pay 100% out of pocket. I asked repeatedly why the decision was made, but no one could answer this question. This is a very disappointing action from this practice, especially since I had been a patient there for so many years.
