I highly recommend Dr. Tim Cavanaugh and Dr. Eric Beatty for eye care, especially if you are considering LASIK surgery. Everyone on their staff are friendly, pleasant, courteous, and helpful, making sure you know that your eyecare really matters to them. I originally had LASIK surgery performed (about twelve years ago) in another city by another LASIK Surgery eye center before moving to the Kansas City area. Following surgery on both eyes, I had to return several times for follow-up LASIK surgery on each eye before my vision was satisfactory. After I moved to the Kansas City area, I had to have each eye touched up again. That was over a decade ago and, with age, my eyesight began to change requiring a touch-up. Before visiting the Cavanaugh Eye Center, I went to visit two other LASIK surgery centers in this area and walked away with the distinct impression that they were only interested in the money they wanted for performing the surgery. At each of the other facilities; they just herded customers through various stations at their facilities just as quickly as they could. Because their facilities were volume-driven LASIK surgery centers, there were long lines, long waiting periods, and because they were trying to cram through as many people as possible, they failed to instill confidence in their level of care or commitment to my eye health. I left the second facility determined to find eye doctors who actually care to get to know their patients and show the kind of care and level of service you would expect from the very best. I felt like I was at the DMV waiting to get my license renewed (as if I had to take a number), and waited excessively long periods before my number was called for each station. At the Cavanaugh Eye Center, my experience was just the opposite. I was given a scheduled appointment, and was never left waiting for a long period of time before I was taken back for an eye exam and update. Each member of the staff are well-trained professionals knowledgeable in eye care and in their areas of expertise. Questions and concerns about my eye care and health have always been promptly answered, and they don't risk taking short-cuts just to get you out the door, especially after your surgery. Their pre-surgical examination and consultation, the surgery preparation and actual surgical procedures, the attentiveness of their staff, and post-surgery follow-up care are all outstanding. In this latter area, the post-surgery follow-up care, the Cavanaugh Eye Center and its doctors and staff are exceptional. Besides the actual surgery itself, the quality of the post-surgery care is probably the most critical part of the entire LASIK surgery experience, because naturally-occurring complications can arise. The follow-up care shown by everyone at the Cavanaugh Eye Center established that I wasn't just a number and that they really cared about the quality of my vision and my the health of my eyes. This is absolutely essential, as in my profession (trial attorney), my vision and having healthy eyes are essential to my livelihood. I am pleased to recommend Drs. Cavanaugh and Beatty to my friends and family because I know that they take care of their patients. Like Lydia A.'s comment, I cannot imagine anything they could have possibly done to improve my experience. When searching for who to do my LASIK surgery, I went to 3 or 4 places in KC and had consultations. I was immediately drawn to Cavanaugh Eye Center. First, I was impressed that I actually got to meet Dr. Cavanaugh at my consultation (other places you do not meet the actual doctor). All of the staff at Cavanaugh Eye Center were so friendly and professional. It felt more "homey" to me and I felt so comfortable there knowing I was picking the place to do surgery on my eyes!! These feelings carried through to my surgery and after. I had my surgery in Jan 2009. My eye sight was really bad (could not even get up at night without putting on my glasses). I also had extremely dry eye. Dr. Cavanaugh and his staff prepared me for surgery and I even had extra appts than the average person (all included in the cost of surgery). All of the staff got to know me and were so friendly every time I came in! The day of surgery couldn't have gone better. Dr. Cavanaugh and staff were on time and everything went as planned (as they prepared me well) and before I knew it it was over and my eyesight was getting better by the hour. I came in for numerous visits after the surgery and they helped me through some issues I had with dry eyes. Most places are probably done with you after surgery, but not Cavanaugh Eye Center. They saw me as many times as needed until my eyesight was perfect. Now I am 20/30 (I believe) and as close to perfect as I could be! No more contacts and no more putting my glasses on to get out of bed. I still go in for my yearly checkups and see Dr. Beatty, who is so thorough and nice! As a matter of fact, I was so happy with my surgery that the following year my husband had LASIK surgery at Cavanaugh's as well. We didn't even think about looking anywhere else as it was evident that they are the best. He had a similar awesome experience and now has 20/20 vision and is thrilled. I've had Fuch's for 15 years and cataracts for the past 3 years...I have complained about the ground not being level for me for years only to have my family and friends laugh and call me crazy. Eye glass prescriptions never gave me clear vision. My local eye doctors where I currently live all agreed that I had Fuch's and cataracts, but sent me on my way simply saying, see you next year. Unable to drive or continue working, I began my search for a cornea specialist which led me 200 miles north of my home to Dr. Cavanaugh. His office runs like a well greased wheel with a super friendly staff. He has all the latest equipment, and most of all, the surgical knowledge and ability to perform the latest cornea transplant lazer surgery, DSAEK. Three months ago, Dr. Cavanaugh did a cornea transplant on my left eye, he also removed the cataracts and put a new lens in. The whole procedure went well, and I had no pain afterwards. The same procedure will be done on the other eye in several months. It is a 200 mile drive, one way, for me to see Dr. Cavanaugh and is well worth it as I only want the best to take care of my eyes. Ask your questions, Dr. Cavanaugh has the answers. I love the fact that after an office procedure I am sent an email with a copy of my chart for that date. I have no other doctor that uses such an informative system to keep me up to date with my medical records. And yes, I was not crazy after all, the ground is not level for me, Dr. Cavanaugh found the problem and a simple addition to my future eye glass prescription should rectify the problem. Our association with Dr. Cavanaugh began in 2000 when he performed Lasik surgery on our son. Ned had spent nearly a year jumping through all the hoops to become a federal agent only to be rejected due to his glasses. Dr. Cavanaugh fixed that problem and Ned was accepted as a result. Cavanaugh Eye Center performed Zyoptix Custom Wavefront LASIK on both of my eyes, December 6th, 2012. I feel confident in saying that it was simply the best money I've ever spent! I know quality client service when I see it. My entire profession revolves around it. Because of the excellent care I received at Cavanaugh Eye Center, my vision has been restored - and it is a miraculous transformation. I had surgeries on each eye, right eye in May 2012 and left eye in September 2012. I had custom wavefront LASIK surgery in both eyes in February of 2011. My experience with Dr. Cavanaugh and Dr. Beatty was fantastic throughout the whole process. I attended an information session a few weeks prior and was able to have all of my questions answered. I found that scheduling the surgery as well as pre and post operative appointments was flexible and easy. My patient instructions were simple and I really felt like I knew what I was getting myself into. I was particularly nervous about not being able to keep my eye from moving during the surgery (which is very short) but I learned that the technology at Cavanaugh's accounts for this and follows your eye movement for a perfect result. Dr. Cavanaugh did lasik surgery on me about 15 years ago and I have not had a minutes worth of trouble since. I am a police officer, so good, clear vision was important to my job - I was very near sighted and had astigmatism in both eyes. I chose the one eye near/the other far adjustment and love it. I still see 20/20, but am starting to need over the counter reading glasses for some things as my eyes naturally age. My son had lasik surgery by Dr. Cavanaugh about 5 years ago and he is doing very well - still sees perfectly and had a great experience. I inherited Cornea Gutta which I had been dealing with for many years which was robbing me of my eye sight. Couldn't deal with bright lights, distance calculations, and glasses no longer helped. I have had extreme near sightedness and astigmatism for years. When my near vision became poor due to aging, I went for evaluation to see what Dr. Cavanaugh could do for me. After lens implants, I am better able to drive at night, see distance, and near without glasses. I no longer have any contacts or products to mess with. My eyes are not irritated by the protein build up that would occur. I could not be more thrilled.
