I wish I could fully express what it means to me to have come here and had the doctors work on my eyes. Before my first surgery in July, my vision was -12. They numbed my eyes, did the laser procedure, and in about five minutes, they told me to sit up--and I could actually see the clock clearly for the first time. Everything went great! Dr.Ellis was quick doing the Lasik. I told one of the ladies I was having anxiety and made sure to tell me to breathe. Everyone is nice and willing to talk you through everything. They will give you drops for your eyes. After the surgery you will need to take a 4 hour nap and it will feel uncomfortable when you're trying to fall asleep but when you wake up it doesn't feel uncomfortable. That's when the eye drops start to come in. Lasik will help with your astigmatism also. Before your Lasik day. They will send you a link to watch videos and what to expect. I'm 6 weeks post-op from PRK in my right eye and I now see a very crisp 20/15! I had Lasik with Dr. Ellis in 2009 and over the last few years, the vision in my right eye declined. (I'll spare all the details, as you can read that in my previous review). Because I've had both Lasik and PRK, I can definitely say that from a recovery perspective, lasik is easier and less painful. Lasik feels like you have sand in your eyes for about 4 hours post-surgery. With PRK, the first 24 hours are a breeze. At about the 24 hour mark, the aching, throbbing pain started to set in. The RX pain killers and a cold compress did help, but for about 3 days...it's no bueno. That's just the truth. Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. A few days of uncomfortable pain are (IMO) well worth no longer needing glasses. Once again, Dr. Ellis has worked his magic. read more

I am 3 days post operation and I'm seeing really well! I received Lasik to help my nearsightedness in both eyes. Dr. Ellis and the staff did a great job walking through what to expect for the procedure and how the recovery will progress. I would definitely recommend reading the material they give you before the operation and also watch the video that Dr. Ellis sends out! I wasn't too worried about the procedure itself but I know some people do worry about it. It is eye surgery afterall! Dr. Ellis and his staff were all wonderful from the time I had my consultation until the day I had my procedure. A coworker recommended their services to me, so this year it was my goal to schedule a Lasik consultation. I schedule my appointment online and was at Dr. Ellis practice that following Monday. My appointment was for 3:30, when I arrived it was a little before 3:30. However, I did not get seen by a specialist until about 30 mins after. During that period, I was given a 10 min educational video to watch. After the video I was taken to a room where one of the Staff examined my eyes and took photos . Afterwards, I was taken to another room where I waited a bit longer for another staff member to throughly examine my eyes. He determined that I was a great candidate for the procedure. I was then taken to another room where they discussed the financial aspects. At that moment I scheduled my procedure for the next following week. My consultation appointment took about 2 hrs. Not sure if it's always like that or if they were low on staff that day On the day of the procedure, I had a 3:30 appointment and waited a while before I could be seen by Dr.Ellis. Nonetheless, the staff remained positive and welcoming. I highly recommend Lasik Plus to anyone Looking to get rid of glasses and contacts! As worried as I was, I never felt a thing during the surgery. I also did not experience any discomfort at all over the following 24 hours although they said my eyes would itch and burn as though I had some foreign body in them. Never had a moment of pain or discomfort. I am absolutely amazed. I will be adjusting to the monovision for a while but that seems to be the worst of it. Everyone in the office is helpful, patient, friendly, and professional. I love it so far! UPDATE 06/19/17: Four months later and I have adjusted to monovision most of the time (low lighting and night driving still excepted). But, I want to say their referral system works! I just had my LASIK done yesterday and I am 100% satisfied already with the results. Granted I had great eyes for the procedure but they will let you know if you are qualified. The day of my appointment they made it so easy and eased my nerves. I was in and out within an hour. The procedure for both of my eyes took maybe 10 minutes. I took their advice and have been using the lubricated drops as much as I need and it helps so much. It's like magic that I can see so well so fast and I wish I had gotten this done sooner. 5 days post-op and I CAN SEE! Dr. Ellis and his staff are OUTSTANDING! Every single person I encountered was upbeat, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Here's how it went - 3/13 I showed up for my free consultation. I had filled out all my info online so after I was offered something to drink, Jessica whisked me to the back where I watched an informational video. Once that was over, Joel started the tests. He was extremely thorough in his explanations as to why they were needed and always made sure all my questions we answered before we went on to the next one. The entire appointment took about 45 minutes to an hour and once my eyes had been dilated and all tests had finished we talked about pricing and available appointments for surgery. My eye insurance gave me an additional discount to what the office was advertising, so I got a great deal! I made my appointment for a week later to the day. Joel was extremely accommodating with the available times. I even had to call the next day to change it to earlier in the day and the office was great. I asked about alternative payment options, my parents got this for my siblings and I as Christmas gifts and they wanted to put it all on their credit card (airline points) - unfortunately LASIK Plus, unlike others out there do no accept those kinds of payments, but I was glad Joel went the extra mile and reached out to the corporate office to see if this could be something offered in the future. 3/20 - surgery day! I arrived at 7:55, my appointment was at 8:00am. Upon arrival I was taken to the back to explain everything, go over payment as well as post op instructions. Both Gretchen and Jessica did an amazingly thorough job in explaining everything I'd need to know. Once I had everything I needed to take care of my eyes for the next few weeks I saw Dr. Ellis. I had my first consultation with LasikPlus in 2015 and my distant vision in my left eye was deteriorating. Doctor Ellis recommended monovision so I would not need reading glasses later in life. I came in and the office was very nice and clean. The receptionist was friendly here, as well as the assistant and doctor here. I came in for my free consultation to see if I am an eligible candidate for lasik. They 1st had me watch an informational video that went over what lasik was, what goes on during the procedure, common questions, etc. Then they took a few photos of my eyes and also tested my vision for an up-to-date. It didn't take too long and then the doctor examed my eyes more throughly and double check my vision. Sadly I ended up being only eligible for 1 eye for the Lasik procedure. They didn't pressure me and were really nice about it and the doctor gave me tips over how to go about it. I really like this office/company. They seem to care about their patients. I had Lasik performed 3/13/2020. My post-op appointment was 4 days later. Mind you this is when Covid shut down the world. I called the office 2 months later to the toll free number to ask what I should do as I was still not seeing 20/20. I was told a representative would call me, which never happened. I then called 5 months post procedure, to complain that my vision was still blurry. I was told by a representative that I needed to see my local eye doctor. In October, I went to my local eye doctor who told me my lasik still left me with -1.25 vision. This explained why I couldn't see still and why constant eye drops were not making my vision clear, as I thought it was the post procedure dry eye syndrome they mentioned at the office. After the eye exam I call Lasik Plus to tell them my optometrist advised I needed an enhancement. The Lasik Plus rep said I needed a recent eye exam, and the eye doctor needed to complete a form. So I had to schedule ANOTHER eye exam with my local doctor for him to complete the forms, only for him to fail to send them to Lasik Plus. Yes, that part was my eye doctor's fault, but I didn't know until months later since Lasik Plus said not to call them to check the status of the approved enhancement verification... they'd call me... Fast forward to February 2021, I still do not have 20/20 vision, my eye doctor gave me a prescription for eye glasses thankfully, because I could not drive at night. Apparently the exam forms never were received by Lasik Plus from my eye doctor, I had to go back for a 3rd exam, and I called Lasik Plus for 3 days in a row to make sure we were progressing somewhere as it had almost been a year. I was told they in fact did receive the forms, they would be reviewed, and I would receive a call from a representative within 6-8 weeks after the information for enhancement was reviewed and approved. Now July, I never received a call, so 16 months post procedure I call Lasik Plus to find out what the heck is going on. Oh.... I will have to go in for an enhancement evaluation at their office, pay $75 for the office visit, and then they will let me know if I qualify. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. I purchased the warranty for a reason. I didn't know I'd have to pay my primary eye doctor for 3 visits, only for Lasik Plus to push things off for so long and essentially make me come in to their office for the exam. Hopefully they approve the enhancement because I didn't pay thousands of dollars to still need glasses for distance for the rest of my life. read more

Update: 1 year post op: 1. All the staff was nice but they are clearly trying to sell you eye surgery. 2. Day of surgery: if you want they will give you a valium. I accepted but it did not do anything for me. The procedure is uncomfortable but tolerable. They explain what they are doing and the girl who whispers in your ear is the best! 3. Post op: recovery SUCKS. I felt like I had sand in my eyes for about 12 hours. It was terrible and I felt like they did not truthfully explain the recovery. I recommend doing the surgery later in the day so you can sleep after. The doctor called me later in the eve (930pm) to check in. That was nice. 4. After surgery follow up: they look at your eyes once and then send you back to your eye doctor and you never hear from them again. One year later and I have not heard a word from them. 5. Payment: there is no discount for a full cash payment upfront but they do offer care credit that has a 0% interest program. Today, my eyes are still dry every day but my vision is good 20/20 per 2 follow ups with my eye dr. I have to use eye gel at bedtime. My night time vision is not that great. I have halos and signs are difficult to read. I do not regret the surgery. I love being able to see!! I would not do the surgery again so I hope it lasts 10 years. read more

After two years of having my left eye corrected I went back today to get my right eye corrected. The procedure took under 10mins and I was in the office a total of 30mins having contact with the technicians and Dr Ellis who answered all questions. It felt very personal and calming. After arriving home I took a nap and used my eye drops. This recovery was WAY less scratchy and irritated than my left eye (which was an astigmatism). After waking up I could see the "guide" on my tv super clearly without squinting....and it's only been 3hrs!!! I am almost 2 weeks post-op. Consultation took about an hour, operation was scheduled for 3 weeks later. I did not meet the surgeon prior to making the appointment, but did meet him day of. They are upfront and informative, no sugar coating the potential side effects. My actual LASIK procedure was FAST, a little scary but there was a nurse there to talk you through the whole procedure. I did have some sloughing during the procedure, which happens but is not too common. There was some consequent inflammation and discomfort, and I initially panicked over this. I called their emergency line on Sunday and Dr. Ellis called me right back and explained thoroughly what was happening. They hit it with some steroid treatment and all is well now. I have 20/20 in one eye and 20/35 in the other. I am satisfied with this, as I am only 2 weeks out and there is time for that previously inflamed eye to further improve. Dr. Ellis and all the staff at LasikPlus in Leawood, KS are very much appreciated. They go out of your way to make you comfortable and knowledgable about the procedure. I was greeted by name as soon as I walked through the door, and I was never brushed aside when I panicked about my bothersome eye. After complications arose following my surgery I went back to the vision center 3 times. I was never provided any relief. I have moved on to a different ophthalmologist who is helping me with my symptoms and pain. I would advise anyone even considering doing Lasik to seriously reconsider. I did not do adequate research before and went forward based on the positive experiences of family and friends. This is my biggest life regret. LasikPlus did not fully disclose all possible complications and glossed over them as if they were so impossible, don't even consider it. I think the fact that they only plan 1 follow-up should have been enough of a sign but yet I continued forward. I feel as though they abandoned the Hippocratic oath. Please note you will always be at risk for flap dislocation even 5, 10, 15+ years down the road should the right forces be applied. Do your own research before you risk your only set of eyes. Even if you believe the only 1-2% risk of complication, if that is you it doesn't matter. I absolutely believe that some people do this surgery, never have problems, and are happy the rest of their life. That does not mean that will be you! The complications are real, and they do occur. Most people do this procedure to make their life easier. Let me tell you, multiple drops up to 20 times a day and around the clock discomfort and pain is NOT an improvement. I have extreme difficulty performing my job and worry about being able to continue to work. This is a procedure you can not take back and your eyes never return to normal. read more

Hope this review helps at least few of you. I had a Lasik surgery on Feb 7th, 2019 with Dr Dean Ellis at Lasik plus, Leawood, Kansas City. After a week from surgery I started experiencing the haziness in my vision. I then went to a different hospital to get second opinion where I was shocked to know that my vision wasn't corrected to 20/20 by the surgery on top of it I had inflammation formed in my right eye. On my next visit to Lasik plus Christi Blood-White, O.D. Examined my eyes and confirmed right eye inflammation. She prescribed me with few medications and suggested a 3 week follow up. Next follow up at Lasik was with Dr Michael Moore who not only took just 5-min to trash other two doctor's opinion but also sent me home without any resolution for my problem. Even after that I Couldn't have a clear vision and my eyes were really dry. I thought I'll give it some time and then have appointment again after 3 months to see if time fixes anything as Dr Moore suggested. I called Lasik plus and asked for the appointment dates with Dr Ellis. For this appointment I need to travel from Arkansas to Kansas which is 3 hours' drive by car. I asked if they could adjust the timings to fit in my schedule but sadly, they didn't even consider the option. They said the doc is busy. I asked if I can talk to Dr Ellis about my situation and asked them to connect me to Dr Ellis. Joel (front desk) told Dr Ellis would call me back within a week or so. But I never received any call from him. On the day of the appointment during the examination the doctor noticed some symptoms in my eyes such as dry patches on my retina. Natural lubrication of my eyes was not happening due to some problem with my tear glands. If I they would have explained me about this earlier, I would have taken care of it by lubricating my eyes with artificial tears but now because of this my eyes developed a Chronic Dry Eye disease which is caused by reduced tear production. After all the struggle and multiple calls Dr.Dean Ellis finally told me that he will prescribed me with a solution which is 600$ (my insurance doesn't cover it). Now the next drama begins Dr Dean Ellis couldn't pull up my records and so he told me he would email me with the prescription. I had to call them 10 times before they emailed my prescription and also it was not sent to pharmacist. When I called up the Lasik center again (which is now on my speed dial) took my request and said it would take another 3 days to get a call back (Like seriously!).Also Surprise I haven't received my prescription yet. People be careful before you go to these kinds of businesses to get you surgeries done as they lack in basic ethics that a doctor should possess. I regret my decision for going for LASIK with Lasik plus and I hope you consider my review before you make such decision. read more

I went to LasikPlus based solely on their reviews, and I was terribly disappointed. I gave it two stars because the procedure itself was somewhat comfortable. But there were some major negatives: 1. They were dishonest with me about the recovery. They glossed over the fact that for DAYS after the surgery I would feel like a had shards of glass in my eyes. They also did not mention that they were going to give me sleeping pills until AFTER I checked in for surgery. Kind of a big deal. They gave me no pain medication, and no contact bandages to take home, which every other lasik center seems to offer. 2. One of their nurses was very unprofessional. She a made sexual reference to me once, and on another occasion she complained to me that some of her patients stink and need deodorant. 3. The place felt like a factory. They service TONS of people at this place, but I didn't feel like any one made any effort to connect with me. 4. When I complained about the intense pain I was in post-op, I was told it was "normal" and was then sent home. Nobody seemed to care. 5. LasikPlus' staff was very pushy that I leave them a good review. I was asked in multiple ways, and was even guilt-tripped (please leave me a good review, I'll get a free lunch if enough people leave me a good review). This makes me think that all the reviews for LasikPlus are dishonest. Overall, if I could do it again, I would have gone to another clinic. read more

I went for a consultant for LASIK and was quoted a discounted price with my Eyemed insurance. During the financing discussion I was told they use Care Credit to finance and asked if I wanted them to check to see if I would qualify but that it would not open the account or anything until I was ready which I told them was fine. A week later I got a Care Credit credit card in the mail that had been opened with a $6000 limit by LasikPlus without my permission. On top of that, I had something come up so I called to reschedule my surgery. When none of the openings they had worked in my work schedule I asked to schedule 2 months out and was told that the price would go up by $500 since I wouldn't have my surgery within the promotional time frame from my consultation. I was NEVER told this during my consultation. The price I was quoted was a discount from my eye insurance, why should it matter when I actually had the surgery?! I have never been so poorly treated by a healthcare facility! They obviously don't care about the patient just about cranking out as many surgeries as they can as quickly as they can. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go together. We waited over an hour on the initial consultation and no one even spoke to us. The receptionist for the Dr office was somewhat rude. The consultation process went ok and we decided to go ahead with surgery. I was cautious as they kept telling me I would need glasses because of my age. Not sure what the point was then if I would have to wear them more after surgery. They convinced me that the mono vision would work great and thought I would be happy with the outcome. Day of surgery went ok, but was very painful for 24 hours which was unexpected. Now I can't see close up or far away clearly and I used to have to only wear glasses for driving. I have headaches a lot now and am extremely unhappy with outcome. On follow up (which we had to wait longer than the actual appointment and had to take off work and drive for an hour), they dismissed my concerns and said it was all due to my age. Said they may have to perform surgery again to "tweak" my eyes. I will not be letting them touch me again. I also see no point in going to the 3 month check up based on the attitude at the 3 week check. My boyfriend is a little happier, but has had some issues as well and is not sure he is happy about having had ti done. Unfortunately, I recommended to a lot of people before surgery. I truly hope they have a better experience. I feel like I have thrown away $3000 and my vision is worse than ever. :-( read more
