I've been seeing Dr Ryan for close to 20 years. I do not trust anyone else with my eyes! I've visited a doctor closer to my home, only to be disappointed in the care I received. They have a great selection of glasses and contacts, and they don't sell you anything you don't need. They work with my VSP insurance, and I'm about to use FSA for the rest. I feel their charges are reasonable compared to the market, no odd add on fees or charges. The cost for a visit is good in my opinion. read more

I have been going to Wineinger Eye Care for over 25 years. They have helped me for regular exams, glasses, and when I scratched my eye. When I retired and had to change my insurance, I made sure I got on a plan that included Dr. Wineinger. I have been seen by both the father and the son. read more

This optometrist is a quack! He told me my son no longer needed glasses and his lazy eye was under control. We noticed the drift of his eye getting worse and worse and finally took him to a children's ophthalmologist who told us his vision had severely degraded and he likely would ALWAYS need glasses! The optometrist also told us our other son didn't need glasses. We finally had to take him to a different person because his elementary school sent a note home informing us he had failed their vision testing. Again, an opthamologist told us this guy was nuts and our child definitely needed glasses! Be warned. You are better off sending your kids to a veterinarian than this guy!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! What a terrible experience we had. Melissa at the front desk is one of the nastiest people I have ever met and they do not have their s*** together. Good luck trying to get your prescription, a call back or any hospitality what-so-ever. The doctor was nice but there is no way to talk to him about your concerns AT ALL. I am pretty sure my messages aren't getting passed on that after 3 weeks, I still can not see. We were new to the area and came here. My boyfriend who has had 20/20 vision his whole life went for an exam and they told him he needed glasses even though he could see fine. Billed him $250. He didn't know what was going on. He thought it was an estimate but they placed the order even though he said he would think about it. We called with in 30 minutes after the appointment and they said they would see if they could cancel if the doctor says it was okay. We diligently called and finally 3 days later we waited for 25 minutes on the phone to see if the doctor could cancel it and then he finally did. It was a big mess. Turns out, after a 2nd exam, he does not need glasses and his vision is 20/20 and not -0.25 like they said. When we called to ask for his prescription, they said they would mail it. 2 weeks later, we called again and they said they would mail it or we could pick it up with in the hour. We picked it up 2 hours later and it was not ready. For me, same thing with the prescription except they did not have anything ready and I spent over 45 minutes waiting. Once I got home, I realized I had 3 different prescriptions. One for glasses, daily contacts, and 2 week contacts ALL A DIFFERENT PRESCRIPTION. The best part, my prescription that hasn't changed in 5 years was completely off. They under-prescribed me. so I still can't see. Now, I am out all my insurance money and I still can't see. I will have to pay for another exam and contacts at a different doctor, all out of pocket. SAVE YOURSELVES! read more

Wineinger Eye Care has met my family's eye care needs for decades. From toddlers to the seniors in the family, I trust Drs. Roger and Ryan Wineinger. General care has always been thorough and serious eye health issues were detected early and saved a loved one from going blind. Highly recommend. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Ryan Wineinger's for about 5 years now. Due to some family history with glaucoma and noticing I was starting to have some trouble with seeing up close, I started visiting Wineinger's for an annual check-up. I have to say, although I only see him once a year, it is always a pleasure. (FYI: Ryan's father works in the same practice, but I have never met him.) Dr. Ryan Wineinger is the kind of health professional I hope for with every health-care visit. He is up-beat, efficient, does not waste time, answers your questions, and will tell you and explain things to you as to keep you well-informed of what is going on, and why he is making a particular choice or decision (or why not). He has never talked down to me. If I have a question, he answers it to my satisfaction. One thing I have also greatly appreciated is that Dr. Wineinger is more on the liberal side when following my eyesight, but he is conservative when it comes to treatment. He is not out to just make himself or someone else money. He only recommends something if he thinks it is truly necessary based on more recent practice guidelines. I have not had to use any eye medication yet, and I am only now using reading glasses (non-prescription) as we both agreed it was finally time. He did give me a prescription for a better pair of glasses in case I wanted to get them, but there was no pressure to do it. Lastly, I have some vision insurance, but it doesn't pay for a lot. My regular health insurance is now Humana, but please note ***Wineinger Vision Associates does not take Humana health insurance***. However, even with that problem, I will not change optomotrists and I still give them 5 stars. They've been kind enough to work with me in the area of payment, and for that I am very grateful. read more

I love this office. Dr Ryan is so professional and he took the time to explain everything to me. My vision is pretty bad and I'm a nervous patient, and he and his staff really put me at ease. I would highly recommend this office. read more

I've been going to the Wineinger's for my eye care for quite some time now. All I can say is - great service, all around. Both Roger and Ryan are always extremely helpful and very friendly. I look forward to seeing them. Their staff is also eager to help throughout my visit. The selection of glasses is also very large, I always walk out satisfied. I would recommend Roger and Ryan to everyone. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Ryan Wineinger for longer than I can remember. He is an outstanding doctor and takes very good care of me and my family. It is always a pleasure when I go to see him and he is very good with children. How he got my 3 year old daughter to sit still and be calm is still a mystery to me! In addition, he is very good at what he does. I had been going to eye doctors for years (since I was in 3rd grade) and no one had ever caught the potentially problematic spot that appeared on the back of my eye. Ryan immediately noticed what no one else had caught and was able to determine that it was nothing to be concerned about, though he is now tracking the spot with every visit to make sure it doesn't become a problem. I wish I could find doctor's like Ryan for all my other health care providers. read more

Don't go there! The customer service is horrible. Dr. Ryan spends 5 minutes with you, rushing through the appointment, not listening to concerns or questions, and charges you for everything he can. When I changed docs, I requested my old records for six months & never received them. Every time I or my new doc called to ask (again) for them, they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Then they told me the doc would sign off on them in the next day & they'd get them out that week. I must have been told that at least 6 times & I never got them. Move on. Much better service elsewhere. I give one star because their office was clean. read more

The worst experience ever. Looking for a new eye doctor so thought I would give them a try. Staff was very rude. Dr. Ryan is very rude. Have been back several times and still without a prescription! Have decided to go back to my old doctor and start all over. Would not recommend them to anyone! read more

Over all it was like a regular optometry visit staff is good, I'm giving it 2 stars and my reason is the receptionist, she was rude from the first day I called to book the appointment she had a bad attitude when I asked her what my insurance covered as if she didn't want to look it up, I've worn glasses for 17 yrs and I have never waited this long for a pair of glasses, but the wait wasn't the issue, I politely called a couple of times to see if they were in, and the receptionist always had this funky attitude the first time I called she exhaled deeply and rudely said let me check, I waited 13 minutes on hold I wasn't about to be on there any longer than that so I called back she said, "no they're not there" called a couple of days later and again she exhaled deeply (as if I was bothering her) and came back shortly and said "still not here" and clicked on me, I called back today and once I told her my name I assume she new I wanted to check if they had arrived and she immediately exhaled and mumbled something under her breathe, put me on hold for like 2 seconds then told me they hadn't arrived in an annoyed voice, I really wanted to say something rude to her but chose not to, she's an older woman, it just feels like the fact that I've called has annoyed her that she didn't really check -.- I'll wait a couple of more days and repost on how long my wait was, btw I made a Yelp just to post this lol read more

Well I feel badly after reading the other two reviews. Apparently my experiences with Dr. Ryan Wineinger are completely different from the other reviewers. My first visit was okay. The office staff had made a few mistakes on my insurance, etc., but that happens. I saw Dr. Ryan, the son, and he was not very friendly, but efficient enough. Over 40--needed reading glasses. The next year I felt my vision had deteriorated rapidly and went back to Dr. Ryan. New office staff--they were awful. They didn't even greet me when I came into the office. The eye technician that ran some tests was so rude and didn't warn me when the puff of air was coming. When I jumped she literally scolded me and said, "Have you never had your eyes examined before?" Like I was stupid. And then Dr. Ryan was really cold, unfriendly, uninformative. I asked about Lasik surgery and he said, "You eyes are aging just like everything else on you. Probably not what you wanted to hear but Lasik won't help worn out muscles." And that was it. I will never go back. There are too many other eye-care specialists in this town to be treated so rudely. Very unhelpful. read more
