If you haven't tried this place, you need to. I've recently started on the Mediterranean diet so, I've been trying to eat more at these types of places for takeout. There are many of these options in worcester, and I've tried several. This one in my opinion is the best. The food is fresh and tastes great. But what puts it over the top is the customer service. The owner is so friendly and personable and wants to make sure that you enjoy his cooking. From talking to him, you can tell he is so proud of what he makes and is happy to share it with you. The pastries are fresh, the food tastes great, and the prices are right. Also, the coffee is outstanding. I'm definitely going to try and eat here at lease once a week. There are few times you can walk into a restaurant and order a "shawafel" but here at the shawarma palace you can and you should! Crunchy, warm, interesting flavors - I don't even know exactly what was in this sandwich but it was delicious. I recommend you come here if you're open to trying something a little different, as well as if your looking for something quick near downtown. Parking is nonexistent, except for metered street spots. Shawarma Palace had been on my list since it opened, but I had to move out of Worcester before I found a reason to go. I found myself at Union Station with two hours to kill before my final doctors appointment to transfer my records to a new practice. I thought to myself "well, you're here, you probably won't be back any time soon and you've always wanted to try this place, so why not." I took a quick 10 minute walk and walked in. Shawarma Palace follows the trend of all the other falafel and shawarma places in Worcester, simple decor, order at the counter and food comes to you at one of the few tables. Nothing fancy, so nothing to distract you from the food. I went up to the counter and ordered the falafel plate and a bottle of water. The gentleman at the counter was pleasant enough and told me to have a seat and he'd bring the food out to me. The food came out quickly and with extra pita bread too, a big plus when you're eating falafel. I dug in, and to be honest, it wasn't anything special. The falafel were on the dry side and not especially flavorful, which is sad because they're clearly made fresh here. The hummus and baba ghanoush certainly helped the falafel, but falafel should be able to stand on it's own without having to slather it with other seasonings. The salad felt extraneous to the meal, the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, but flavorless, and were only improved slightly by the dressing. In the end, the best thing to eat on the plate was the pita with the whipped garlic, which would make an excellent appetizer, but wasn't able to save the meal. I'm really disappointed that Shawarma Palace didn't live up to my expectations, both in the hierarchy downtown Worcester restaurants and Worcester Middle Eastern eateries,especially in light of all the good things I've heard and read about it. Next time I'm in the area, unless I'm out of options, I think I'll skip the trip Shawarma Palace. read more

I had a very negative experience at this place. We called in advance to order. We were told the food would be ready to be picked up in 25 minutes. We arrived 30 minutes later. The food was not ready. We were told to wait for 5 to 10 minutes. After waiting for 30 minutes, we realized someone who ordered on the spot was picking up the food. We asked the owner about our order. The owner expressed that he was busy with little patience. It turned out that our food was not even prepared. We walked away and decided that we will never return to this join. read more

I visited Shawarma Palace today with two friends and I can't say enough good things about it! The owner was so incredibly kind and inviting. He gave us zaatar to try for free and told us a lovely story from his childhood about why it's so special to him. I ordered the falafel sandwich which was insanely good and had just the perfect amount of spice. The tabouli salad was beautiful and so refreshing, and the grape leaves were unlike any I've ever had. Finally -- the baklava! It's my favorite dessert and this one, featuring subtle hints of rose water, did not disappoint. I could taste the passion and love in every bite and will certainly be back. read more

Excellent schwarma. Perfectly tender beef and chicken, excellent spice on the chicken. The baba ghanoush has a prominent smoked flavor which is delicious. The rice and salad have really distinct, balanced flavors that are not over powering. Fantastic hummus. The portions were also large. Staff was very friendly, and service was fast. The food is incredible. The kibbeh and beef shawarma are so incredibly tender, moist, and full of amazing flavor. The homemade hummus and baba ganoush are fresh and light, but also slightly savory. My absolute favorite is the homemade garlic paste Charlie makes. It's so simple (primarily garlic and sesame oil), but it's so rich and refreshing. And don't forget the other fun sides of falafel, this pita bread with herbs scattered across it (I know I'm doing it an injustice with this insufficient description, but it's great), spinach pies - it's all good! And I haven't even gotten to how lovely the owner Charlie is. He is such a pleasant, sweet individual - you will certainly leave with a smile after chatting with him. After eating here ... When it comes to Lebanese food, my wife and I are spoiled with nearly a decade of East Side Pocket's delicious wraps on College Hill and Oasis on Broad Street. If you're ever in Providence, you have to stop in for a bite. To say we are imbued with high standards is more a testament to the quality (and price) of their food than anything else. So upon leaving Providence, we feared there would always be a lingering void every time we ate anywhere else to get our falafel fix. With such high standards in mind, it is with high regard when I say that Shawarma Palace offers an excellent selection of fresh, authentic Lebanese food. You can't go wrong with their chicken and beef shawarma wraps (sandwiches, he calls them) and plates. The kibbeh is just so savory and triggers all kinds of euphoric feelings on your taste buds. They have fresh hummus and other side dishes to take home and they serve a very unique style of baklava that Charles (the owner) orders from Canada every week that's made with rose water instead of the honey-covered variation most are accustomed to. The portions are a little smaller and the falafel is a little drier than East Side's, but the prices are also cheaper so that can be forgiven. All in all, a real treat to have just a few blocks away from our apartment and across the street from city hall. We will definitely be coming here often. read more

Best restaurant ever! Ordered food for a bunch of people at my company. They were so accommodating with allergies and a large food order. They called me to make sure of a couple allergies and work with me to make sure the people with allergies got food that they not only needed but also wanted. I've been meaning to stop here since I moved to the neighborhood over two years ago. I finally had the chance yesterday and it FAR exceeded my expectations. We walked in and there was only one other customer there, but every table was full by the time we left. The cook (owner/operator?) greeted us immediately. When we needed a minute to order, he directed us to a more detailed menu so we could see descriptions of what everything was. I had a chicken shawarma sandwich and my boyfriend had a falafel sandwich. We shared an order of vegetarian grape leaves. Everything was super fresh and super delicious. At the end of the meal, the cook (owner/operator?) came around to every table, offering baklava to those who wanted it. We had a great experience. Great food, great people, and super reasonable.
