One of those places you feel lucky to find out about (easier now:thanks Yelp!). We stopped by on the way from maine to ny and were greeted at Shawarma by a generous and gracious host. The owner was super kind to us, got things cooking even at closing time and joked and talked with us and our kids while we waited. We ate like kings on the delicious shawarma plates. But the true star of the show was the baclawa. OMG, this alone makes it worth seeking out Shawarma! I've enjoyed baklawa all my life but this version elevates the dessert to transcendence. I'm not a native of the area, but really wanted to try this place out. I came in on a Friday evening jet lagged and hungry. Charles, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming. He was patient and understanding when we asked for clarification on some of the food on the menu. I found this place here on Yelp while craving shawarma like a mad woman. I haven't found any in Massachusetts that was anything to talk about until now. We ordered shawarma plates and falafel. Charlie is a fantastic cook & his hospitality was wonderful. Some locals stopped in for coffee and we all had a great chat. We had a toddler with us and everyone paid attention to her and Charlie gave her a treat, just because. It was wonderful food and a wonderful experience. We will become regulars! read more

Absolutely outstanding! Great little hole-in-the-wall spot in downtown Worcester. This place is tiny with only a few seats, but it's worth a visit. This is a very warm and inviting family run business. They instantly make you feel welcome and they are on a first name basis with most of their customers. The food is phenomenal. Really authentic flavors with all kinds of options. Everything is made with care and really good ingredients. The doner plate was so good. Discovered this place (via yelp) a few months back and finally our search has ended; excellent Middle Eastern and Shawarma in the area. The plates and sandwiches are generous and low priced, they could easily charge 50% more. The quality is very high and everything tastes authentic. I even heard a rumor the owner gets the spices directly from Labanese markets, and it shows in the flavorful results. The falafel is crisp and exceptional. The whipped garlic paste is very interesting and delicious. All the sides and cold salads are fresh and lively tasting. The venue is very small and geared towards fast lunch or carry-out, only a few sit down tables. I wouldn't be surprised if they open a 2nd location or move to a larger space as it is getting very crowded there at lunch. read more

Just happened to be looking for a place to eat while in Worcester and stumbled into this place. What a find! I had the chicken shawarma salad and my companion had the beef shawarma sandwich and they were both freshly prepared and delicious. The owner was incredibly friendly and nice and gave us some free pita bread and hummus while we were waiting for him to prepare our lunches. By the end of our lunch, we had (1) had a delicious meal, (2) learned quite a lot about Lebanese food, and (3) made a new friend. Next time we're in Worcester we will make a point to visit again. The place is small, with just a few tables, but most of the customers while we were there were getting take-out, so there was plenty of room. I visited Shawarma Palace on a whim on Friday 8/7/2015 and then again on 8/21/2015 after visiting the Worcester Art Museum. The first visit was wanting to go somewhere that was a little independently owned middle eastern restaurant nearby, but the second was specifically to make it a part of our night. The first Friday (8/7), I had remembered seeing a shawarma restaurant off the highway once, and did a quick Google to see if I could figure out where it was. There were six of us in our party: three thirtyish diners, one picky six year old, one three year old, and one infant. It turns out that this establishment was not the one I thought it was, but I was sincerely surprised and impressed with what we ended up getting. The owner Charlie and his son were working, and their demeanor, professionalism, warmth, and overall friendliness were incredible. We felt like we were entering Charlie's personal kitchen, and we were welcomed with open arms. They were interested with our family, our day, and what we wanted to order. He also extended our order by bringing out some other dishes to try that we may not be familiar with at no charge since it was our first time at his restaurant. We ordered Hummus, Falafel, Spinach pie, Meat pie, grape leaves, a chicken shawarma wrap, and two shawarma mix plates. He also brought us a plate of Babaganouj. He also gave our picky six year old a little bag of cheetos because he wasn't interested in the food. The food and the atmosphere were perfect, and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the dinner. The hummus and babaganouj were incredibly fresh - and I had never had babaganouj that was first charred on the grill before making the puree and it was smoky and incredible. The shawarma plates / wrap were fresh, creamy, flavorful, and literally overflowing with food. I was able to finish mine, but no one else in the party could and we brought leftovers home. The whole order with drinks was about forty dollars, an incredible buy for the masterful cooking and Lebanese warmth. Tonight, we visited again with two adults, the infant, and the picky six year old again. Charlie did not disappoint. We ordered two shawarma mix plates and falafel. Again, he was generous, warm, and wanted every one of us to be happy. He made something special for the baby and the picky six year old, and even entertained all of us with his friendly banter and true investment in us. We will definitely be visiting Shawarma Palace whenever we are in Worcester. A true gem. read more
