I went recently for meat pie, but left with much more. I got spinach and cheese pies also, pita bread, hummus, taboli and baklawa. All was so delicious. I think the baklawa was the best I've ever had: fresh and light, and sweet enough but not too sweet. I will be back next time I am in the area. read more

I'm age 67 and Lebanese, you can tell I'm Lebanese from 20 feet away. My sitoo and Jidoo used to cook this food often. I've eaten it all over the country, I've been to countless, Syrian Bakeries and Lebanese restaurants. Most of the people who have written here appear to be Yuppies, or people who eat out rarely. Like, ohhh...the hummus is yummy and the bread is fresh. I have news for you, the hummus is yummy and the bread is fresh at Market Basket, too. In fact, in like 10 years, half the people here who reviewed this place and gave it a 5 star review never ate out again, apparently. Which means they are fake reviews. I've come to George's off and on for over 50 years. Mostly off, off is the key word here. When the food here is fresh, it's ok. That would be never now, unless you order it. There are things with meat on top of the counter not refrigerated. You can't see in the glass cases, because the glass is dirty. The people here are never, ever friendly. The prices are very high, the product is always small. We only come here like once a year now. Today we bought Zaatar, lahmajun, spinach and meat fatayer. It was all stale, clearly either frozen and thawed, or just stale. If you want good food, go to Kobanis in Lawrence. The food is very fresh there, and the place is cleaner, cheaper, AND the people appreciate your business. Go to Not Just Tabouli in Easton, same deal. Go to Fall River, same deal, a number of places way better than here. But...hey...if you like grouchy people, stale food and high prices, then George's is the place for you. This review should really be a 1, but I'm in a generous mood today. Here's my super Yelp tip for the day. The best fatayers in the world and it's in Worcester. Why else would we drive two hours to take them back on the plane to Florida? Because I know this place. It's a lot of work to make them. These are made fresh daily and are a meal or a snack , diamond shaped perhaps 7"x7" cooked perfectly. They will heat up or take cold . We heat them in air fryer but oven or toaster oven works well . Athen Syrian bread that freeze's well . Fresh salads Humus , stuffed grape leaves , and so much more . I too love the Syrian bread! Its true that it doesn't have preservatives. Here's what I do. Freeze it. Just put the package in the freezer as is. Remove a piece each time you need one and wrap it in paper towel. Then microwave at high for 55 secs. It taste just as great and chewy as the day you bought it if you freeze it right away. I tried the open pies last time I went. Those are great too! I'm going to bye more. I haven't tried anything else yet. read more

Love the middle eastern cuisine here! They do only have two chairs, but that isn't important where they can't heat up the grapeleaves (or any food for that matter) anymore. Was so nice to sit and eat some fresh and warm. Now we just get it to go. Still amazing grape leaves, & kibbee balls as well as the spinich pies. I agree with another review writer that the pita bread is fantastic, but it doesn't last long, so you can't stock up and can only think a day ahead. Spotty fresh pita availability (they source UMASS, El Basha, a local Price Chopper among others), but when it's available, it's the BEST. I'll never go back to store-bought pita--they're all so stale in comparison to these soft, chewy, fragrant fresh loaves. However, they are preservative free, so by the end of the day they too will be stale. It's good while it lasts. read more

Fantastic, fragrant, pliable, delicious pita bread. I can't go back to grocery store pita bread. This place supplies El Basha, the bread is also sold at D'Errico's, and I was also happy to find it in the UMASS Med Center Cafeteria as well! However, the bread has no preservatives, so eat it up on the day of purchase, share w/ people, because the next day it'll be noticeably staler--almost like supermarket pita at that point. The place also has some Lebanese grocery products, pastries, meat pies, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes they're out of bread by early evening. read more

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for George's. This is a great little place with an amazing assortment of middle eastern food-hard to believe they can pack so much in such a small space. I have eaten their grape leaves, both with and without meat, their koosa,tabouleh, baklava and many, many other things bit I ALWAYS make sure to pick up some spinach or meat pies-they are fantastic. One pie makes for an entire meal and they are very reasonably priced. Nice, accomodating staff too. A few grocery stores used to carry some of their food but sadly stopped so now I have to go straight to the source. If you live in or are visiting Worcester and like middle eastern food, you will love George's-and it's not far off the Mass Pike exit at Grafton Street. read more
