Chicken shawarma was pretty good. The meat was quite tasty & there was a good amount of it. The sauces were decent. The kubbah was hot, crispy & tasty. There was a lot of minced meat inside & the slight sourness offset the savory taste well. The grape leaves were decent. The rice inside was a bit mushed up but they were well wrapped & the leaves were firm.

So "Aurora" and "Shawarma" aren't really the two words you frequently hear in the same sentence. When I was in the area, my intention was to try one fo the great Italian or Persian restaraunts. However, the largely positive reviews and personal recomendations persuaded me to give Shawarma Land a try. I am glad I did. On a saturday afternoon, the restraunt was busy, which is a good sign. There was a small lineup which lasted about 5 minutes. Most patrons were served quickly and took their orders to go. The guys behind the counter were efficient, friendly and respectful. When I try a shawarma spot for the first time, I usually order a fully loaded plate with as much variety as possible. That way, I know exactly what to order if/when I return. With that in mind, I ordered a shawarma plate with both chicken and beef. For the sdies, I ordered rice, potatoes, humus, coleslaw and turnips. I also asked for garlic sauce, tahini and hot sause. The order comes with a grocery store pita. After a very enjoyable meal, I still don't know whether I prefer beef or chicken. Both were tender, juicy and properly seasoned. The meat wasn't too chewy or too dry. I also don't know whether I prefer rice or potatoes. I was expecting the potatoes to be starchy and flavourless, but got a nice smoky flavour instead. The rice was also very good, though it doesn't really have a distinct flavour to write about (nor should it). The humus (served in extremely generous quantities) was bland. I would not order it on its own. However, it was really tasty when mixed with the shawarma meat. The coleslaw was surprisingly good. It was not overly sour or mushy. The turnips were a little salty for my liking and are the only item I wouldn't ask for again. The portions are generous. However, the proportions between the sides could be a lot better. I felt like there was too much rice and humus and not enough of everything else. My plate had only a bit of the veggies and several slices of potato. By the end of my meal, I was left with a bunch of rice and humus on my plate (which don't really go well on their own). A meal like this is best served with a bottle of Ayran (a yogurt drink) which is pretty common at middle-eastern restraraunts. Perhaps the management team at Shawarma Land should offer it as well.

Been craving shawarma and decided to finally check this place out after yelping our new neighbourhood. It's a nice, clean space with plenty of seating. We ordered the chicken and beef mixed shawarma plate (though I don't think it was on the menu). I felt the sauces were a bit thinner than my liking and the beef was a bit dry and tougher that I usually have. Overall though it was still delicious and I would go back if I'm ever craving shawarma in the area!

Yikes. I expected better. I was in Aurora a few nights ago and was looking for a quick fix so naturally, I went on Yelp to find a good recommendation. My all time favourite quick fix meal is shawarma so I found myself here. At the time I arrived, there were a little under 10 people in the shop so it seemed that business was doing well. I ordered a standard chicken shawarma wrap and to my disappointment, it was cold. I'm not sure if it was because it was a busier night and the staff were rushing, but they hadn't warmed the wrap for long enough and the pita was actually cold. Not even room temperature - it was fridge-level cold. The chicken and toppings were also a disappointment. The chicken wasn't seasoned well nor roasted enough so it was bland tasting and the toppings weren't fresh. The turnips were soggy and falling apart. Overall, my order was a sad, cold, soggy, tasteless wrap. I don't see myself back in Aurora anytime soon but I'm sad this meal will be my one impression of it.

This is my first trip to Shawarma Land. These guys are fast. Fresh food ready fast. I always enjoy watching a well oiled machine. The guys are organized and the service is fast and friendly. The place is modern, and the food tastes good. I had the hummus and chicken shawarma. It was a very generous portion of food, and the pricing was fair. I need to be careful and eat gluten free, so they were able to pull out a fresh tub of hummus for me and the shawarma was freshly cut. If you are celiac or have a serious allergy, avoid everything in the fryer and notice that anything server from the service area can be risky. I got mine fresh. They seem to do a very brisk business and the place is very busy. Typically a sign of a good restaurant.

If this was a food challenge...sharwarma vs. me! The insane amount of food got me pulling the white flag instantly !! We came in very hungry on a Saturday lunch, the place was somewhat busy. There were two staffs working and they were both very friendly and efficient with the service !! I liked the choices on the menu from burritos to platters and various meats including chicken sharwarma/kebob and beef. Ultimately, I wanted try their chicken sharwarma plate ($13.71)- it comes with a mountain full of chicken , potatoes, rice, salad, pita and hummus. Being very hungry stepping in the store, I thought I had no problem finishing up this plate. Oh boy... I was soooo wrong....Just the pita and hummus already got me packing home. I barely made 1/4 of my food...!! Honestly , you need TWO people to finish this. Sharing is caring...sometimes.... :) They should put up as a food challenge. No way...anybody can finish this by himself/herself in one sitting? Don't believe me ? Go try it...and let me know. The chicken sharwarma plate had surpass my expectations, not only was my tummy stuffed but the flavour of the food was spot on. The salad was a nice contrast with all the meat and sauce it had. I just wished there was a little more salad ! If I'm ever around the area ( way too far from my usual hangout area!!!), I would love to come back and have another battle!!

Wow. Very friendly service and great tasting food. I've only so far tried the chicken shawarma plate to go and it was perfection. The portions are great and the price is right. The hot sauce is actually hot and the food, flavorful. I recently out of the blue started craving Mediterranean food and this will be my go to spot. read more

It was pretty busy around Saturday lunch with quite a few people getting takeout as well. Food quality/freshness was decent. We got the chicken shawarma plate and beef shawarma wrap, the latter being tastier as everything was well-mixed together. The price point was quite good for the amount of food you get, and there was a fair bit of toppings to choose from. Service was also pretty good. Overall though, the tastiness factor is why the rating is 3 stars. read more

Easily the best shawarma, north of Richmond Hill. All the meats are tender and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The sauces are particularly outstanding, which is what raises this place above others in my eyes, not to mention the super friendly service that makes you feel welcome every time you go in. Shawarma land can bring your Eastern taste buds back to life in no time!!! As someone who traveled a lot and actually was fortunate enough to try an original shawarma I have to say Shawarma land nailed it. The meat is very fresh and perfectly seasoned, the salads have an amazing flavor that just explodes in your mouth as soon as you take a bite and the people who run the place somehow every time know what to put in my food in order for me to enjoy it. The environment is very clean and the Eastern music that is playing in the background just adds the perfect touch to the surroundings. If you are a fan of trying new things and and you love a lot of flavor and different textures I would highly recommend Shawarma land. They have a large menu starting from shawarma and ending at sweets. I totally recommend checking it out read more

This place is a m a z i n g. Found out about this place after the shawarma place just south closed down and i was looking for another one nearby. went on yelp, saw this was just down the street and decided to pop in. the guys are very friendly! the food is delicious, fresh every time. I'm usually a fan of the sandwhiches but here i prefer the platter. it can easily feed two people, i can never finish a meal in one sitting. i will try the shawarma poutine one day. 10/10 i tell everyone who lives around the area to try here. read more

Excellent, fresh food in large portions, and the staff are really nice, as well as being efficient and accommodating. We go often, as it's a great value for very tasty food - I always get the chicken shawarma dinner with rice and salad, SO gets the beef shawarma wrap. They have a great variety of fresh toppings and sauces. We almost always eat-in, which is a fairly small, clean dining area, but much of the traffic seems to be take-out, so it's never been an issue. Very good Shawarma - I probably eat Shawarma more than I should - it tends to be a go-to meal on the go when I'm looking for something quick; and I'm finding that each place I go has subtly different mixes of spices for the shawarma and vegetables for toppings. Shawarma land has a good mix of both, the flavours aren't anything that really stands out; but they are generous in their servings and have a good flavour. read more

What made this place were the two young men working there on Sunday January 4th, 2015. Courteous, knowledgable, evidently invested in what they are doing.....and it comes through in the food! First time there, I don't usually bother to write reviews, so that says something in itself. I have only had shawarma a couple times, other times was at the Newmarket mall, so I don't have much to compare to, but It was really good and the portion was HUGE. You defiantly get your moneys worth lol. The only thing that would have made it better in my opinion was better salad options, but everything was super tasty. I'll be back! read more

Tabouli was light, fresh and very enjoyable. Loved the buba ghanoush - wonderful smokey flavour. Hummus was also well done. Happy to have found this spot. Shwarma is good. Not great. read more

This is a pricey place, more a high end kind of restaurant so if you're looking for a cheaper place, don't go here obviously. Food was pretty decent with what we ordered. The only that didn't stand out whatsoever was the salmon. I've been to many high end restaurants and in other countries so salmon isn't much of a hit typically. They sold out of the bass fillet and the mussels (specials for the night/week - forgot what Jasmine said) so if you want to try these, order asap! Drinks were great! I asked for a Caesar as my second/third drink and wanted a specific amount of spice, Jasmine just came with the tabasco and put the amount I wanted, thank goodness! I feel like we definitely got the best service sitting by the drinks bar with Jasmine just genuinely kind and chatting with us. We had a great time and will definitely be coming here again.

I think that this is a very well run local business in Aurora. The people there are extremely friendly, and I assume that it is family run because they speak a foreign language and seem to be from a middle eastern area. The food is very good and I would say five star worthy. You can stay and eat there or order to go. The hot sauce is actually hot and the prices are very good. You can get a chicken or beef shawarma for $6.99 +tax that is great to stay and eat or leave. They have the meat roasting right behind the register and prepare the food right in front of you with fresh ingredients always cooked to perfection with a free drink. read more

Amazing taste that reminds me of shawarma from cities where competition is high (eg Ottawa). I have tried both chicken and beef and can honestly say they are both very good. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 star is because I am comparing them to heavy weights in cities where there is a shawarma joint in every corner and quality is high (like Shwarma Palace in Ottawa). If I were to limit myself to the GTA, then this place is an obvious 5 star. Their prices are high but fair. I am a repeat customer for a reason. read more
