Fantastic home-made Greek food. Delicious soups and pizza. Owner is very hands-on and welcome. One of the best places in town!

We came here as a group of 4 for lunch on a weekend…read more Service: there were two people working and they were both patient with us and our questions. After we ordered, the told us the lamb skewer would take a bit longer which we didn't mind and appreciated the heads up. There's a 5% discount for cash and a 10% discount if you're police, firefighter or ambulance worker and in uniform. Food: Lamb kebab wrap - the lamb kebab has pretty decent flavor and was cooked well while still being juicy. The fillings we got were lettuce, tomato, pickled turnips and pickles. We got the house sauce which says it has garlic, cucumber and dill. All the toppings tasted fresh. I do wish the sauce had a bit more of a dill kick but that's just my preference. Everything is wrapped in either whole wheat or regular tortilla and then toasted. An interesting choice to use tortilla over pita bread - I think I prefer pita breads softness but the tortilla stands up well to the toppings. 4/5. Mixed shawarma plate - this came with chicken shawarma and donair slices. The chicken shawarma was great - moist and flavorful. The donair was also really good - had a bit of a unique spice to it. The rice was good, potatoes I felt could be seasoned a bit more but not bad. The hummus and garlic sauce were ok - again, felt like they could have more flavor but still okay. The side salad was fresh and I love that it's a full box. Price: The plates can be pricey but for the amount of food you get, totally worth it. Wraps seemed fairly priced but I think I'd recommend the full plate for value.

Visited Sammouna today for the first time. We were met with a very friendly young lady in training…read more She did an excellent job serving us today. We had the shwarma, and it was very greasy. My partner and I who work under the law enforcement umbrella, and are designated as first responders / essential services, were in uniform at the time. The restaurant advertises both outside and inside on their menu boards that "our friends in uniform receive a 10% discount". When our order was placed and our food was being prepared, we went to the cash to pay for our order. The nice lady behind the counter informed us that we were eligible to receive the discount. Immediately, the owner (who came to the store front when we walked in) said "no, they don't get it". He repeated himself and said "no, not them, they don't get the discount." The lady behind the counter looked embarrassed as she had to retract her statement. My partner had ordered extra meat on his shwarma. The lady forgot to charge him for it, so when she went to notify him and ask for payment, she was very apologetic. Her partner, another woman behind the counter, told her not so be so apologetic with people. It was a very weird and uncomfortable experience there. We hope that the $1.20 that the owner saved from not allowing us the 10% discount was worth him losing customers or recommendations for this place. Not only did he make his employee feel like an ass, he made us feel like we are worth less than our law enforcement counterparts. Shame.
