We were in Collingwood for a friend's bachelorette and ended up going to Tesoro our first night for dinner. It has a real cozy vibe, and our waitress was sweet. The food was good. Not standout amazing but everyone enjoyed their meals. The Hugo cocktail was the winner for me - super light and refreshing and didn't really taste alcoholic...which is dangerous. I got a second cocktail and my second was loaded up with soda, so it wasn't entirely consistent but still good. It was pricy but Italian in a tourist town so not shockingly expensive. read more

What a lovely spot In Collingwood. You can be seated in a outside patio or inside the resto replete with an old world charm. We came with a small wedding party and had reservations last Friday. The wine menu was extensive and serval options, and the menu selections had some of well known Italian favorites and some unique options. The star attraction definately was the muscles in curry sauce which were excellent and didnt last. The lasagne looks fairly good and I had the spaghetti with sicilians meatballs. Fairly pedestrian and pricey but tasty dish. I'm not sure what is slowly encroaching on service. I read a previous review about a cheerless waitperson, perfectly adequate but seemed upset about something. She seemed to hover over the poor gentleman with the debit machine as she presented the bill. Guys, give your customers a chance to look at the bill. I ask you to allow us to look at the bill before your shove the machine in our faces. What's the rush? I find that, as efficient as the service is, a pallor of disinterest and judgement washed over an otherwise pleasant evening. This place is absolutely amazing! It's a little gem of a place, even before you enter you can smell the authentic Italian cuisine. The service was great and the food was melt in your mouth perfect. We had to order dessert because the dinner was so good we didn't want to miss out. I ordered the chocolate raspberry gelato and it was an explosion of flavour! Best dessert ever! read more

My boyfriend and I looked at nearby places to eat on a saturday night and by the looks of the reviews on this place- we had found a winner. Boy, were we wrong! We first called to make reservations for 8:15- the lady on the phone seemed to be frazzled but said she had a spot available. When we arrived there it turned out nobody put our name down at all. So in short, they lost our reservation! The hostess was very apologetic and seated us at the bar in hopes for a table. She quoted "5-10 minutes tops." -- If only that were the case. We ended up waiting 35 minutes at the bar for a table. We were finally seated and then the waitress came to take our orders- because we knew what we wanted with all that time staring at the menu. I ordered the chicken parm and my boyfriend ordered the spaghetti and Sicilian meatballs. In the meantime, we were given bread to dip in the olive oil. I was super excited about this because of how hungry I was. Sadly, there was a hair on my plate! We informed the waitress and she was very rude about getting us a new one and just walked by the table and slammed a clean plate down.. Like it was our fault the hair was there!! When our food came it was very bland. I don't know if it's because my grandfather is from Italy that I'm super critical on italian food or if I'm just that much of a foodie. My chicken parm just wasn't that good. However, my boyfriend did seem to enjoy the spaghetti (minus the meatballs- he didn't like that) Not sure if it was an off day for them or not but I sure won't be returning here again to eat. read more

Tucked away in downtown Collingwood is a gem of an Italian restaurant named Tesoro. I stumbled upon this resto while I was searching for great spots to eat near Blue Mountain Ski Resort. Tesoro kept coming up with quality reviews, so I made it a point to eat there and I was thoroughly impressed. After a night of public ice skating at Eddie Bush arena, my g/f and I made our way to Tesoro. Thank god we had a reservation, because as we arrived the place was packed and there was a queue out the door. I could smell the aromatic medley of Italian spices approaching the restaurant, and I had a hunch this venue would meet the hype. We entered and had the option to sit at a table or to sit at the bar, and right away we decided to sit along the bar. This turned out to be a major advantage for two reasons: One because we had an exceptional bartender tending to us all night (I can't recall her name, but she provided some of the best service we have ever gotten at a restaurant, and she goes to Ryerson University, anonymous waitress, if you're reading this you know who you are and you rock!). Secondly, because the kitchen style was open concept and I was in plain view of the 2 skilled chefs cooking away, it definitely added to the experience to see Owner/Chef Joelle Rogers work away diligently in the kitchen. We decided to start with the carpaccio di manzo (beef carpaccio) which I watched the chef shave. It was topped with olive oil, citrus, arugula and proper parm, dee-lish squared. Next we ordered a pizza from the "specials" menu and the critically acclaimed beef lasagna. The thin crust pizza was covered with a cozy house tomato sauce, sweet vegetables and my favourite, prosciutto. The beef lasagna was unreal, it arrived bubbling with cheese and packed with meat. The portions of both dishes were sizeable, so much so that we ended up taking midnight snacks back to the resort. By the time my g/f's flourless chocolate cake arrived I was at capacity, but I could tell by her body language that she too was melting along with the cake at every bite. Pretty much the coziest Italian restaurant I have ever been to. My only quam is that it was slightly chaotic, but it is that way because it is so successful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who finds themselves out by Collingwood; this resto has become a staple on my ski trips. *make a reservation if you plan on attending read more

We were a table of 5. Cocktails, dinner, wine, and lots of laughs. Prices are not out of line considering it's a tourist town. We were not thrilled with the service, the Millennial "I am doing you a favour by serving you" vibe ran thick. And being an open kitchen Italian resto it really needs a warm owner/manager type person to make customers welcome. The cold Caker staff needs to warm up. Great food, fast & friendly service! We stopped here after a sleigh ride in the woods with 5 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 babies. Everyone loved their food and our servers were attentive (quick bread refill for the hangry toddlers) and accurate. The chicken pasta was delicious; so was the crepe and the kale/quinoa salad. This was arguably the worst service experience I've ever had, with such rude and demeaning staff. My parents and I had a patio reservation for dinner. On arrival, we were told it would be about 5 minutes until our table was ready. Cut to 30 minutes later still waiting. The only place offered for us to sit in the meantime was a bench outside the restaurant covered in red ants. Apparently the patrons at our table were still drinking their coffees. The staff told us they informed those patrons that we were waiting, but didn't make any other efforts to accommodate us. The staff continued to refill those patrons' drinks, didn't remind them any further, and left us standing. Furthermore, the staff continued to tell us that they had to respect their paying customers, as if we had no value. It was incredibly patronizing and demeaning. When my parents and I decided to leave, I overhead the staff saying 'Glad to see them leave!' The level of unprofessionalism was appalling. We had eaten at many other restaurants in Collingwood during our time here this summer (all with similarly busy or busier patios), and we never encountered anything like this. read more

We had been coming to Tesoro for multiple years & decided to go there for our New Year's Eve dinner. Our reservation was for 8:00pm and much to our surprise did not get seated until 8:30. We were instructed to "wait by the fire outside" as it was freezing. As we finally got seated 30 minutes later our waitress was externally rude & did not apologize for the late service. We waited another 30 minutes just to place our orders & then another hour to finally get our food. When we received our food 1 hour later it was cold & completely gross. The food was absolutely awful and reminded me of food that had been frozen & re heated. For an Itlian restaurant you would expect the pasta dishes to be out of this world however this is not what we experienced. Overall the food was awful, the service was terrible, and the staff were extremely rude. Never will we back here. read more

It's an alright restaurant with good food however the service is Painfully slow, the restaurant made my family and I wait for 20 minutes (and counting) past our scheduled reservation to even be seated. If not for the absolutely childish seating process, this would easily be a 5 star. read more

This place has amazing food. My favorites are Pizza Salmone (with smoked salmon and goat cheese) and clams in white wine sauce. They also have real espresso and home made ice cream. Every time we go skiing at Blue Mountain we stop there for late lunch or early dinner. I noticed that we started cutting our skiing short as we all want to go to Tesoro sooner :-) read more

I used to like this place .. but had 2 horrible experiences in a row. Last September I bit into something crunchy in the fois gras on the charcuterie plate. Happened to be very small pieces of the bowl that broke off into it. They were VERY apologetic ...giving us free drinks and food. Stuff happens and I didn't let it ruin the night. Went back this week and believe it or not, there was a bite size (inch square) piece of white porcelain plate mixed in with the goat cheese on the bruschetta. My wife bit into that one ... Told the waitress who then apologized and left with it. Manager came over and said her staff makes it all the time and never had issues. I realized that the waitress never mentioned the plate piece to her as she thought we didn't like the dish. When I told her the story and my previous experience she said its never happened in the 7 years she was working. I call bullshit on that one. They obviously need some quality control. As for the food ... It kind of sucked this time. $34 lamb that was bland and pretty bad pasta shells. I think they offered free dessert but I didn't want to crack a tooth. Plenty of restaurants in Collingwood so I am not worried about scratching one off my list. read more

This was such an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious.. especially the beef carpaccio and the margarita pizza and the mussels.. The service was amazing and the booth and atmosphere was so cute and cozy. It was very busy, as it should be, so please make sure to make reservations beforehand! On top of all this, our waitress, Lauren, had gone out of the way to try and help us.. I had lost my over 1,000 dollar denture by keeping it on one of the plates which were supposed to be taken while I went to the bathroom (I have done this by accident in past a few tiles at restaurants).. Lauren went all the way to the back of the restaurant for us and went through the whole garbage with gloves (it was very late at night) to try and find this for me. She did not make it seem like I was a nuisance at all.. then when we thought that all Hope was lost, she found it on the floor near the bar (thank God!!). I was so happy and she was so nice about it the whole time, not to mention that she was very nice and positively enthusiastic about the food as well and our experience. It was a real pleasure to have her as a server and the whole experience was just amazing! Will be back 1000 percent! read more

We rented a cottage in Collingwood this weekend and, based on recommendation from the owners, went for lunch at Tesoro. What a great find! My husband and I shared Salmone pizza and kids had Angelo pizza. I think this was the best pizza I have ever tried. It was so delicious that I was almost ready to pick up another pizza for the road to Toronto when we were leaving on Sun. The service was very friendly and personal, the waitress was very good with kids, which is a rarity in fancy restaurants, most of them consider kids as nuisance. We will certainly come back when next time in Collingwood. read more

I feel a bit conflicted with giving this place a general star rating. Considering the food in isolation, I would say it gets 4-5 stars. My caprese salad, chicken supreme, and tartufo were all quite delicious (the chicken supreme dish in particular... not only was the stuffed chicken good, but the sides were even better! Gnocci in a delicious pesto cream and the best side of vegetables I've ever come across, with roasted garlic stuffed zucchini and prosciutto wrapped asparagus!). However, pretty much every other aspect of the experience left something to be desired. The restaurant was pretty enough but quite small and oddly shaped. We were standing awkwardly at the door waiting for our table, and it was not easy to move out of the way when servers and customers needed to get by. The server we had appeared to be frazzled or in a bad mood, because we definitely got some attitude when we asked for sparking water instead of tap water (...which would result in a larger bill and a bigger tip for her, so what for?). She did warm up a bit towards the end of the meal though. The single washroom had no toilet paper in it....anywhere....and smelled really bad, so that was no fun. It was also quite a loud place that felt a bit cramped. Not necessarily a bad thing, if that's the vibe you're looking for. All in all, I personally loved the food, but was slightly disappointed with everything else. read more

If you are looking for fresh Italian food, you found the place. The chicken pesto pasta is a must and the arabiatta is tangy and well spiced. The seafood is pretty fresh too. The pizzas are flavorful (not as thin as Italian) but if needed try the funghi. The pastas supersede the pizzas at this place for sure!! read more

We ate here on Easter Monday evening, and first of all were pleased that it was open that night (some restaurants were not). We were greeted by our friendly waitress, and told all the day's specials.. rather an overwhelming list, which might have been a little easier to 'digest' had it been written down. Our food, once we ordered (just from the menu) came fairly quickly. We were given bread first, strangely without butter; but, once we asked for some, it was quickly brought. Our meals were very good.. but I wouldn't say extraordinary. My Lasagne was delicious, if not actually 'towering' (as described in the menu); one of our party had the Sicilian Meatballs on Spaghetti which, in my opinion, consisted of some of very rubbery minced beef and not nearly enough spice; the other person had the Seafood Pasta, which oddly (though true to the menu) only contained shrimp, but otherwise looked good. The litre carafe of Valpolicella is probably the best buy for fans of red wine, because the wine in general is expensive; indeed, so is the food.. really, for what it was. So, all in all.. good food, a nice atmosphere.. but NOT amazing. read more

Our server was great - she recommended a fantastic beer (which I can't remember the name of), and both of our meals were superb! I had the stuffed shells, and I would definitely order them again. Had a wonderful guitar player last Thursday Nite - sat outside with this beautiful voice singing - guitar playing - great wine - and topped off with a meal that was outstanding ! Don't be disillusioned by the decor of this place, If you can get over the wood bench style seating and paper napkin wrapped eating tools you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Arrived at 6:30 PM on a Thursday, there were a few tables left so we were seated immediately. Commenced with Roasted red & yellow pepper bruschetta baked with goat cheese & marinated artichoke hearts topped with fresh basil, there were three pieces on the plate. I followed this by ordering the Farfalle pasta tossed with spicy tiger shrimp, sundried tomato, artichoke hearts, arugula & goat cheese in an olive oil & pesto sauce. Both were very tasty, the Farfalle pasta had seven shrimp (31/35 or 35/40), plenty of sundried tomato and artichoke but was a little shy on the pasta. We had a half litre of house wine with dinner, my date had desert and I had an espresso. The service was excellent, the bill was around $100. I will go back is I am in the area again. read more

I'd like to start by saying we arrived early for our reservations and we were greeted like the hostess was not impressed. She sat us st a table- we noticed the light above our table didn't work -she proceeded to tell us as soon as she had time she would change it. Finally after our water was served and the table was set another rude person came to the table to change the bulb- as we noticed the dust falling from the light fixture in to the water and all over our cutlery we asked if we could change tables and she said no as there was a huge party reserved. (Half the restaurant was empty ) (and nobody sat at the table we requested the whole 2 hours we were there). Appetizers arrived - delicious- I asked to substitute gargonzola instead of goat cheese on the bread we ordered, first batch was great- second batch had goat cheese - the server insisted I was wrong but exchanged it anyway. The main course Risotto arrived- it was horrible both my guest and I hardly ate it - the server was not concerned nor attempted to ask us how the meal was. We noticed that tables around us were served bread except us - we asked the server ( she said she forgot) and she brought us hard multi grain bread ( really)? After we paid a hefty bill we left.
