I had the mushroom soup and flatbread both were bland. The flatbread was burned all around the edges and the balsamic reduction was in short supply and incorrectly plated on top of the arugula. I had high hopes for a unique dish and was disappointed. The stir fry was served in watery sauce that was more soup than fry. We noted the burned food and watery stir fry and the waitress responded "oh that's too bad" and handed us a bill for 144$. We aren't locals so I guess us never going back isn't a blow ‍

This evening we went to a wonderful restaurant to round out a fabulous week in Meaford. The…read moreinterior is colorful and features modern art on the walls for sale. The food matches the modern but warm flare. There were three in our party. To start off we had a half karaf of their special Sangria made with fresh picked local blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. Next we shared the Snack Platter that included a variety of fresh raw vegetables, home made pita bread, and portions of guacamole, hummus, olive tapenade, and a white bean spinach dip. We also had the Flatbread with a butternut squash base, caramelized onion, apples, cheese, and arugula with a balsamic vinaigrette. Next for our main dishes I had the heaping helping of stir fry udon noodles with a sesame ginger soy sauce and a variety of vegetables. My colleagues had the house made fettuccine pasta with chicken in a pesto cream sauce, broccoli, confit garlic, and charred cherry tomatoes; and finally the AAA Flat Iron Steak that was cooked medium rare on baby arugula greens, chummy churri vinaigrette, with caramelized onion and blue cheese crumbles. All were excellent. Then somehow we had the strawberry crumble with a scoop of oat milk ice cream. Quite full after this culinary adventure. Great service by Heather and a fantastic meal from Chef Christina. Highly recommend!

Thank you to the team at Down Home for the warmest welcome and the sweetest bday wishes :) I love that they grow and use their own ingredient! Some ingredients I've never even heard of, but they taste so good. I also appreciated that they work with nearby local Ontario farmers and suppliers to create this delicious meal! It was quite the adventure to drive up north with the crazy whiteout weather- definitely needed a bigger car and better wheels for the job! Absolutely worth the drive; the food was creative and beautiful! We are definitely coming back in the summer again ^^

The tables are quite far apart, giving a sense of privacy. This is a great spot for a special occasion. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the food they cook and the service that they provide. They enthusiastically explained each course, drink pairing, and even where to find the awesome cutlery that they were using. Our meal started off outside in a semi-enclosed area with a warming broth made from local herbs and vegetables and pig's head. It was heated over a wood-fired grill. Many of the items served were kissed by the flames, resulting in wonderful smoky accents. When we went inside, we were treated to course after course of delight. For me, the standouts were: (1) Apples that underwent a preservation method similar to what's used for black garlic, resulting in this delicious buttery caramel flavour without the overly cloying sweetness; (2) A duo of smoky, meaty maitake and pickled Ontario matsutake; and (3) a delicious rabbit dish that had an excellent amount of fattiness tempered by a deliciously savoury sauce. Everything was delicious though. More impressively, everything from the food to the wines and beers were all local or at least from Ontario. It was a true showcase of what great chefs can do with the great ingredients of our province. Will definitely be back.
