We've tried this place 3 times to give it a fair shot as we really wanted to like it but I don't think we will return. - pasta : over sauced; the pasta I had with balls of cheese was warm with cold balls of cheese. Kids has jarred tomatoe sauce on pasta. - fish and chips- if you're looking for that nice light crunch with a crispy light coating- don't go here. It was soggy, and meh; coleslaw tasteless; fries on the verge of burnt. How you get fries wrong, who knows. - beef wrap - very saucy inside, - chicken curry - very salty, tasted like it was from a jar; the rice was underdone, I don't know how it's possible to not cook rice properly in a restaurant but this place did it. Coriander garnish was wilted and old, why bother even putting it on? Naan bread very crispy on one side. - ceaser drink was ok. Basic. - hamburger - tasted fine. Again, I think the service was friendly and the restaurant is nice but they dropped the ball on the food and are likely capitalizing on the history of the building rather than the food.

My wife just had her b-day dinner with some girlfriends and it was the first lousy experience. When a borderline rude waitress tells them they only have the table till 7.30 before they sit down. It's Thursday night and the place is not packed ? One way to put a damper on the party to start the evening. After tossing the menu on the table, rude waitress asks " do you want wine ?" I guess she is new and untrained or should not work in the service industry. Overall dinner was ok this time but previous times was very good. The kicker was when no one actually showed up to take the table with the mentioned time limit and at this point the place was half empty. We will go back for another try, hope to get a waitress with more personality then my gold fish.

We were wandering around the St. Jacobs Farmers Market earlier, munching on stuff, so we weren't too hungry. The lunch menu had quite a few things that sounded good but we decided to share an order of the Glazed Thatcher Farms Pork Belly (braised cabbage, roasted squash purée, wild mushrooms). The presentation was beautiful and it tasted really good! It was cooked perfectly - tender, moist, flavourful. Excellent dish. Their cocktail menu had a lot of interesting concoctions but we chose water and coffee. I know, it sounds boring but we still had a few stops planned on our long way home - all breweries. Yes, I was thinking responsibly! I'll have to come back to sample more of their menu. Our server was recommending their desserts. Next time. Oysters, Duck Leg Confit, Honey Mustard Crusted Leg of lamb, and Smoked pork loin with sausage were all exceptional, paired with great service and a cute patio which was the perfect backdrop for a summer evening. The brûlée, cheesecake and homemade flaky competed for dessert of the night at our table, with the final verdict being that sharing the three left us all feeling like we somehow won. Got a chance to chat with the owner and chef and understood right away why every dish we tried felt like it was the special of the night. We don't make it here often but when we do we'll be making sure they have a table for us.
