Knotty pine goodness at Sauble Beach.
    Martin S.

DNL is your average diner in a strip mall. It's compact with small booths and is a perfect spot to duck into after cruising the main drag of Sauble beach taking in the sun and sand. Expect good service and healthy portions of typical small town Ontario grub like burgers and fries along with bacon and eggs with refills of coffee.

Decent breakfast. Nice wait staff. Fair prices. But nothing special. I loved the rooster painting at our booth, though...

As it was the beginning of October, there was very little people so ample parking available. The sauce was a little on the saltier side, but very pretty plating Peaches and cream 3/5 The cream was delicious The almond praline garnish was delicious The poached peach was sour. Taking out the peach would have made this dessert 5/5 Overall, amazing customer service! Rob was attentive and super fun!

From the first step in, everything felt special. The vibe is relaxed and charming, but it's the people and food that really stay with you. Our server Olivia was absolutely wonderful--so warm, kind, and attentive in the most genuine way. She made us feel right at home. The salmon with herb rice was one of the best meals I've had in a long time--perfectly cooked and so flavorful. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and our glass of white wine tied it all together beautifully. You can tell the chefs here care deeply about what they're creating. There's love in the details, and it shows. It honestly surprises me that more people don't know about this place. But I'll be recommending Heydays to everyone I know. It's a true hidden gem in Sauble Beach, and we can't wait to come back.

They have done a nice job sprucing things up a bit and revamping the kitchen. Hope to see the red carpet in the dining room go at some point. A bit under staffed as they get on their feet a lot of work for one person at front of house to manage, quite a long wait for walk ins due to covid restrictions on the dining room. Definitely call ahead for a reservation. Staff was friendly and polite took our order correctly. Our meals where pretty good! We got two orders of the Fisherman's platter. One with fries and one with a Ceasar salad. Breading on the fish was light the halibut was a nice large piece! Cooked perfectly nice and flakey not greasy at all. The scallops and shrimp where cooked well too. Chips where fresh and light. The Ceasar salad was not worth the 3.50$ dollars for the upgrade. They just tossed two strips of bacon with it. No croutons, red onion or even parmasean. Was also dissapointed that they didn't do a home made tartar sauce and also no lemon provided with the fish. At first I was excited to see the paper in the take out bag! Then realized they wrapped the take out box in paper. Hopefully they will cut back on the waste and just wrap the fish in that beautiful paper moving forward. Would really love to see this place stick to fish and chips and sea food options and perfect their sides. Would love to see more fish and seafood meals and stay away from the burgers etc and really specialize on the seafood. There's plenty of wing and burger family restaurants and I think they could really make a go of it if they keep it simple, fresh and refined! Found it a bit pricey but overall enjoyed out meals great piece of fish! This cost us 70$ with tax.

It is beyond me how anyone left out the putrid smell of old rags and moldy bread out of the review…read more The smell was so strong, we changed tables. Unfortunately, the glasses also smelled like it (but wandering around had made us too thirsty to do anything about it) This place is really hidden away, so much so that you are concerned if they are close. And their bathroom is a portapotty, which should really concern you about the sanitary standards of this place. We ordered a few dishes. The Caesar salad was alright, a little small for $12. The lobster ravioli was definitely premade ravioli covered in ketchup. They also only give you six of them, for a whole $17 dollars. The redeeming quality of this restaurant was the fettuccine with seafood, which had giant shrimps and lots of seafood in it. It was ok, certainly not the best though. The kitchen is very open and you can see it where you are seated. It should make you feel more reassured that the food will be good, but the chef literally looked like he would have rather been anywhere else but there. Another guy came in a little later carrying loaves of uncovered bread with his bare arms, bread which later became the feasting grounds for a bunch of flies. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Her pasta slightly undercooked. Unfortunately, the lasagna I purchased from Costco tasted better than Molinari's offering. The portion of my lasagna was also way too small. The terrible, cafeteria-like setting made the prices they charge even more outrageous (even in a tourist area). This experience was helped only by a waiter who was genuinely nice.

Brian Perks sells great hardwood for your campfire. He also sells blocks of ice, which I prefer, as opposed to cubes. SO here is our business practice as a customer: on the way into camping, we pick up Fire and Ice (a.k.a. wood and a couple of ice blocks). Every few days, we come back again to replace said items. Brian Perks charges far less then the park does, and his wood is better, too! But the thing to truly die for is the smoked fish. When you are staying in a park called Killbear, with actual bears roaming around, you don't want to be keeping smoked fish in your cooler, car or tent. We pick ours up on the way out. You can choose between Whitefish (drier, whiter, nice for salads), Trout (oily, full-flavoured) and Pickerel (I have not tried it). Both the whitefish and the trout are outstanding! Mr. Perks told me that most of his produce goes to New York City, and much of the rest to Eastern European customers in Ontario. My Mother (Ukrainian and Romanian) adores this fish. Last year I forgot to pick some up, and she's not let me forget it! This year, I stopped by Perks Fish on my way out of the park, and was so happy to see him still in business. If you enjoy smoked fish, or just need fire and ice for camping, check out Perks Fish! A true hole-in-the-wall, hidden gem, etc., it is worth a detour if you are in Parry Sound, and worth stopping by if you are staying at Killbear.

There were a few people making some noise but the place was somewhat subdued. The restaurant really should be called 'The Bare Minimum'. Beer options lacked craft options. The kids Fish and Chips clearly lacked fresh fish and the fries were not only frozen but embarrassing the lowest or second lowest grade of frozen fries. A 'famous' Fish and Chip restaurant should have fresh fries. The wings were overpriced. The hot sauce was Franks. They were over cooked. I could even order a double or a half order on top of what seemed to be a disappointment waiting to happen. The menus were all crinkled and the o unfortunate lack of appetizers was evident. No chocolate milk for the kids. The taste was disappointing at best. If I was the owner, I'd be legitimately concerned about the obvious corners he is cutting. We are to fill our stomachs and not for the love of food. I get it's an attempt at a bar scene as well as Fish and Chip joint. Details and quality matters. I hope the owner puts some genuine love into this place, because it's not gonna last like this.
