I have an old fashioned lock that needed repair. I made a trip across Austin to Sharp Brothers shop. I showed them pictures of the work required and was assured it was no problem to repair lock. I mentioned that the door knobs were broken. I was told the locksmith carried replacements and tools in their truck. They even showed me samples of the door knobs I could pick from. A trip was scheduled to fix lock at my house. What a disappointment to pay for the trip and partial work and find that because the locksmith was using a new truck, he did not have have all his tools or parts needed to complete the job! No apologies or credit for trip charge. I had to drive across town again to their shop pick up the part missing and had to pay my handyman to install! Terrible service and work ethic. Steve recently helped me when I was out of town and accidentally locked out my friend out of my house. She was checking on my cat, so I panicked about how I could get her In. Steve made it easy. He cut a spare and met her to deliver it - all during the craziness of sxsw. I called around a few places before I got to Steve; he was the most helpful and made himself available to meet her schedule during a busy Friday. He was also the most affordable. My broken lock was inconveniently located in a shed down a bumpy dirt road quite a ways into a nature preserve, and it's pretty unpleasantly hot to be venturing out in the sun right now. Not only did Mr Sharp come out to meet me there exactly when expected, and fix it quickly for a reasonable price, he was good natured and patient when I showed up with the wrong key set and delayed his next job. Really above and beyond. What could have been a frustrating day for me turned out to be relatively easy thanks to great customer service. Had to get my front door knob re-keyed for a safety reason. Said I could bring it in and charge would just be $12, but service call would add significantly. I asked about difficulty of removing and replacing door knob and she said if I could use a screw-driver it would be no problem. She said 'I'll be glad to take your money, but you'd save a lot to just bring it to us and we can still make sure all new keys work.' It was as she said, easy to remove and replace, and they used my key to just modify the lock. Two keys come with and I had three more made, with total just around $20. I rarely have to use a locksmith, but each time I've had perfect experiences here. read more

Okay, people. Rarely do I come across a good ole honest business ran by good ole salt of the earth people. THIS is one of those establishments. Steven Sharp (I think his name was) talked me through unlocking a cash register over the phone..... I mean I had been on the phone with locksmiths since the night before TRYING to find someone, anyone who would come help me out, without charging me $100+. I have been trying to get my great grandmother's suitcase unlocked for a while and wasn't having any luck. A different locksmith recommended Sharp's after being unsuccessful himself because he knew they have a lot of old luggage keys. The man there got the suitcase open in less than a minute, the keys to the suitcase were inside so I didn't have to buy a new one, and they didn't charge me a cent. VERY pleased with the service and how knowledgeable they were. So excited to have the suitcase open and usable with no damage and truly enjoyed my trip to Sharp's.
