Ate here last night... First night of my well needed vacation... When I tell you the food is amazing, that's possibly an understatement. Whoever is the chef has some of the best recipes I've ever personally eaten. The flavors were all complimentary to one another and our server was out of this world! The prices blew us away. The shrimp was super fresh, the sauces all had to be made from scratch, they were amazing! And I ordered a Blue Hawaiian cocktail with my dinner that went really well with the flavors on my plate. Here is a list of all the things we ate last night... * Clam Chowder (Possibly the best I've ever had.) * Bay Shrimp Cocktail * Mexi Cod Tacos w/Cilantro Cream Sauce * Shrimp Tacos w/ Chipotle Cream Sauce *Blue Hawaiian Cocktail All the seafood was fresh and light, all of the ingredients used in general were fresh and full of flavor. My cocktail was made with fresh Pineapple Juice and was so refreshing! The only thing that upset me was coming to the realization that this place is 4 hours away from home for me. Cute quaint cafe! The food is a little pricy. I got the southwestern cod tacos and the tacos it's self were amazing but I got like 8 chips and 1/8 cup of salsa for 18$. We were seated quickly. There water is lemon and lime fused no regular water. We were seated and didn't get our drinks till 5 minutes before our food came. And my husband ordered an and appetizer that NEVER came. My family was very disappointed in our dining experience here. I am amazed that this restaurant has 4 stars. I ordered the seafood platter. My oysters were flat and burnt. Everything else was over cooked and dried out. Perhaps it was just a once in a million event however, the staff plated terribly black food. I did not send it back because...well, I couldn't find an employee and got tired of waiting and just ate it. The wait staff was not attentive at all....it took a long time for someone to get our drink and food order and they never came around to see if we needed anything. There was also a male employee who was speaking to a customer on the phone, when he hung up he proceeded to loudly complain about how awful most customers were. We chose this over one of the 'fancier' seafood restaurants in town and were not disappointed. My husband had the seafood platter and loved it. A little pricey, but worth it and could potentially be shared between two (we didn't share, he ate everything on his plate!). Sharkbites was a horrible experience for me & my wife and sister in law on Thursday 4/11/2024. We were vacationing in Coos bay Oregon for the first time. The seafood was really bad and we complained only to get 4.00 off a 42.00 sea platter. My sister in laws shrimp tasted like rubber. The coleslaw tasted like watered down lemon instead of the dressing that goes with coleslaw. The fries looked a month old and very flat tasting. The oil it was prepared with was outdated and old. My sister in law complained and the y replaced the shrimp with Jumbo prawns. I would not recommend this place to anyone for the food and service. The drinks were the only thing we would come back for. They denied they had yelp because they didn't want any bad reviews. But we wanted to post our experience so they can take a look at the food processing. Also to make other visitors aware of the bad seafood platters and baskets. read more

This is everything I love about small Oregon towns!!! We were on day 8 or a 12 day vacation when we stopped at SharkBites. This was by far the best meal we had on our trip. So much so that we agreed we would come back the next day to enjoy the food again. The service was awesome! It was very busy and we were greeted with smiles and warm welcoming service. We were made to feel like old friends. This is one of those gems that I feel lucky to have found. We ENJOYED a shrimp nacho, as well as the Mex fish tacos, and an order of the shrimp tacos. Some of the best fish n' chips I've had in along time. My family was in town and we needed to grab a bite. They were open for business but had limited seating inside. There was no outdoor seating. We had our order to go. It took about 10 minutes or so for us to get like 5 baskets. The fish was fresh and crispy and the chips just as good. read more

As my husband said, "It's nice to be around nice people!" After being told at another place that closes at the same time as this place, you have 2 minutes to order, this place was a GREAT find! It's always great when people are happy to see you. Despite the fact we walked in 20 minutes before closing, staff was very pleasant and helpful. Food also DELICIOUS! We got here late (about 1/2 hour before closing. ) so the menu was limited. I ordered the Baja tacos. Breaded cod, cabbage, cheese and avocado. This comes with chips and bean dip. I loved the salsa and tartar sauce! I was sadly disappointed when I realized the extra taco I paid $5 for was missed and not added to the box. (We ordered to-go) we also were not Provided any utensils. Luckily my hotel was accommodating and gave us some. My daughter got the clam chowder and garlic bread. She liked the chowder but said it was kinda watery, she prefers a thicker chowder but it was a GF chowder so I expected a bit thinner of one. Her garlic kraiser roll was good, accept the bottom half was over toasted and just tasted very burnt. I think the cooks were tired and worn out after a long shift. Other ppl had garlic shrimp (gorgeous flavor), and WAUI burger...it was one of the biggest chicken sandwiches I've ever seen. Just a warning, it takes time to make such awesome food. At every table was literature trying to rally people to rise up and take private property at a surfer beach near Coos Bay. Apparently, the issue is that a land owner does not allow trespassing on his property to access the beach. They went so far as to post photographs of the land owner and listed his wife and children.
