Famous crab sandwich

Stopped by on my Oregon / NorCal road trip and this was a food highlight. No frills, go in, order your food, and enjoy. I ate at the picnic tables outside, and was extremely happy even with the cold wind threatening to blow my hat off.

I was told to try this spot and it was not a let down, I wish I had gone sooner. There is minimal seating indoor, it's a small shop but ample seating outdoors. If you do sit indoors just be aware, people will be lined up and standing right by you while you're eating! Doesn't bug me, but I know some people might not want that experience. The line was long but it moved quickly, food was out quickly as well both times. That lobster roll is elite, I wish there was more every time I finished. The bun is buttery and airy, the lobster is so rich and delicious. The only downside was the coleslaw, that was dry and not my favorite. I do prefer a wetter coleslaw so that may just be my preference. The oysters were so large and so tasty, the horseradish with them gives the best kick. I can't say enough good things about this spot. It's a bit pricey, but it's so totally worth it. If you're in the area crabbing they'll cook your crabs for you as well, so I thought that was a cool touch! Super good food and a fun authentic setting. Outdoor seating means bring a raincoat if it's overcast. We were there shortly before closing at 7pm so they were out of a few things on the menu. Note to self - eat an early dinner or late lunch. The line is always out the door anytime we've driven past. The food was excellent. We tried a little of everything, fish tacos, crab cakes, crab sandwich, and halibut. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The experience is worth it but the food makes it even better.

Tony's Crab Shack was one of the first spots that popped up when I searched for restaurants in Bandon, so we decided to give it a try. I came in craving a whole Dungeness crab, shell and all, because I really enjoy the rich crab butter (tomalley) inside the head. Unfortunately, they do not serve it that way here and the crab comes pre-split in half. I ordered the crab sandwich with clam chowder and three oysters while my husband got the halibut sandwich. The crab sandwich was just okay with not much flavor and not worth the $29 price tag. The oysters were also disappointing. The halibut sandwich, according to my husband, was excellent. The clam chowder was the star which was rich, creamy and delicious. They also have an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly, which was nice.

We were visiting from out of town and were on a mission to find some yummy crab. Thankfully Tony's Crab Shack delivered! We had our dogs with us and it was great that there was plenty of seating outdoors for all of us. We ordered from the friendly staff members inside, and our food was brought out to us very timely. We ordered the crab sandwich with clam chowder, and the crab cakes with coleslaw. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious - maybe the best crab sandwich and cakes we've ever had?! Great work!

Went to this location after a long and tiring drive. The service staff took 30 minutes while we were waiting in line standing to order. Then when we got to the front the person took another 10 minutes to take our order while they were running around busy with other things. Before announcing that they close in 10 and the line behind me out of the door was not happy. After this shenanigan I was asked to tip while paying 35$ for a crab cocktail and a clam chowder. The food itself was ok not great, especially for the money the clam chowder unseasoned and mine did not have a single clam meat in it. The crab seems fresh but again lacked any taste and the cocktail sauce was store bought. Overall 2/5 since the food did not poison us

Stopped by Tony's Crab Shack while passing through the coast and ordered the fish tacos and a cup of clam chowder. Both dishes were fresh, comforting, and exactly what I was hoping for from a small seafood spot. The fish tacos were simple in the best way. Lightly battered, flaky fish with crisp cabbage, a drizzle of sauce, and warm tortillas. No unnecessary extras, just good ingredients handled well. The clam chowder had a creamy base with a nice balance of brine and herbs. It wasn't overly thick, which I appreciated, and it had a generous amount of clams and potatoes in every bite. Service was friendly and casual. Staff made good recommendations and took their time answering questions, even with a steady line behind us. It felt like they actually enjoyed what they do. The shack itself is small and right on the bay, with outdoor seating and views of the harbor. It's laid-back, a bit breezy, and exactly the kind of place that fits the setting. Nothing fancy, just great food with a view and no pretense. If you're in the area and want something straightforward and well-prepared, Tony's is a worthwhile stop.

The service and the ambiance cannot be beat. They are so kind and friendly here. I came with my young children and they brought out a (I'm assuming recently boiled) crab for my children to learn where and how to touch. It's a fun spot right in downtown by the pier so when I say ambiance, this is what I mean. It's perfect ambiance for a crab shack. I thought the fish tacos could've used more acid- lemon or lime- but they were pretty good. The clam chowder was pretty good too, maybe just needed more salt and pepper. My husband got the fish and chips and if you like fish and chips, I'm guessing it's good. I do not and my husband doesn't seem to like it either, even though he orders it every time we go somewhere. Maybe if it came with vinegar, it'd be better? We will still come back if we visit, they're just so nice here.

Cheeseburger and cole slaw

My companions wanted fresh seafood so we picked Tony's. I do not eat seafood, so I tried the cheeseburger. It came with a side of cole slaw. My fiends chose the crab and shrimp seafood. It was a just perfect portion. We tried a cider that is local to the area and it was great. We chose to sit inside, but the outdoor seating was also nice. The weather was beautiful. It was a long line to get your order taken but once done, it was pretty quick to get our food. All in all, a solid choice for some seafood by the water.

After a long walk on the beach we were craving seafood & spotted Tony's. While we waited for our food the staff came by and few times to check on us, make small talk & cracked some jokes. They were really friendly & seemed to enjoy connecting with guests which was fun to watch. I wanted to try the lobster roll but sadly they were sold out, so instead I tried the Bandon's famous crab sandwich & some chowder. The sandwich was light and fresh, not heavy or greasy. The crab was the star of the show, nestled on a bed of crisp greens and perfectly toasted sourdough...ugh SO good! The tasty chowder really hit the spot after being out in the cold. Will definitely be back!

Oysters, lobster roll
Vivian L.

Loved the food and service. Fresh oysters and lobster roll were delicious. Crab cake was good but overpriced. Plenty of outdoor seating available.

Half Shell oysters. Fresh and delicious.

Food was too delicious. Simple seasonings but bursting with flavor! The staff were very friendly, like visiting old friends. We even got to meet Herbert the Crab. By the photos online I thought there'd be more seating but created like a sardine can. Turns out it's enough seating for 15 with enough elbow room. Wheelchairs might find it a bit difficult but there are no steps and it's a very streamlined in and out. If you're too cold sitting outside they have a bait and gift shop next door. Sweaters and shirts up to 4x.

Stopped by for lunch on our way down to the Redwoods…read more There's plenty of parking right outside in the lot. The restaurant overlooks the water so there's a nice view from inside. The restaurant itself is small, clean, with a good amount of seating. We came in when the machine was broken so they only took cash. Thankfully, there's an ATM in the Bandon cafe down the street so it wasn't much of an issue. I ordered the dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich at market price which was around $21. A little pricey for a sandwich, but worth it. The sandwich was packed to the brim with fresh crab and shrimp. You have the option of coleslaw or fries. I chose the fries which were fresh and flavorful with a nice crunch. The sandwich was extremely filling and can easily be split between 2 people. I'm tempted to come back again one day to try their fish and chips and clam chowder as well.

Friendly people nice quaint place. Due to a refrigeration issue no chowder and out of king cod…read more But super friendly and accommodating. Ended up getting the rock fish and chips. Not terrible. Everything came piping hot except the coleslaw it was chilled. The batter was a little thicker than I prefer and even cooked to a deep brown (not burnt) there were clumps against the fish that was still uncooked doughy batter. The batter had interesting seasoning that was a bit on the sweet side but overall tasty. Six big nuggets of fish. I forgot to get a picture right away but pulled two out. Lots of fries. Under seasoned but for health reasons of various people that is understandable. Coleslaw was not bad, had dried cranberries which was different. Not bad but not life changing. Overall a good meal.

At least the mashed potatoes were decent …read more.. The service was awful - really, I cannot believe it. Our waiter took away my salad with food still on the plate ...I literally had my fork in my hand and food in my mouth when he snatched my plate. Rest of the meal, he was abrupt and awkward (dropping the check without a word... same with the change after paying). He would be better off working as a bagger at Safeway. And the food was gross. The cream sauce on the crab tasted like it was only milk and cornstarch, vegetables were boiled to death ...and the vinaigrette was the consistency of gel toothpaste. If this were Red Robin, I'd be disappointed ...but for a restaurant with $36 entrees, it was appalling. I hate to give a negative review, but I feel obliged to warn other Yelpers.

Another amazing recommendation from the staff at THE BANDON INN…read more We came in for a late dinner and and after reading reviews we didn't have any high expectations. But boy were we surprised! We were greeted immediately and sat. The vibe was a casual seaside home feel. Our server,Bethany, was such a delight! She was incredibly friendly and polite. She took our drink order and have us time to go over the specials and menu. My husband opted for the pork chop dinner and had a salad and clam chowder. They bright out some warm bread, which was delightful! (Especially the cranberry bread!) The pork chop was moist and flavorful. Great portions. And the clam chowder was thick and delicious! There's a great menu selection. And they had a big dessert menu, which we ordered and opted to take back to the hotel with us. Everything was great! Special shout-out to Bethany, as she really was as sweet as the pie we ordered! A true asset to the establishment! She really did make our time there extra bright. Definitely worth a stop in.

When I asked for no feta cheese on my gyro she informed me that it was also in the tzatziki (I really appreciated the heads up) and she also clarified if this was a food allergy or preference (I appreciate her concern in the case that this was an allergy to dairy). She was also quick with bringing me ketchup and hot sauce and anything else I asked for. She really made both meals excellent :) The food was just as good as the service! My Traditional Breakfast really hit the spot! Thanks again to Kat for recommending the bacon. My gyro was a little plain, because I got mine without cheese and tzatziki. BUT the chicken was super flavorful and the veggies were fresh and crispy. I added a splash of lime juice and this was perfect for me. And I must say these are some of the BEST French fries I've ever had!! I'm not sure if they're considered double fried or beer battered (?) but it is definitely worth the $3 upgrade to get them! I only wish they would just put the dang bottle of ketchup on the table instead of bringing it to you in a small metal cup (which they did at both meals). Odd policy IMO; seems like it makes more work for the servers. But that is a very small complaint for an overall very great restaurant!
