We wanted to go somewhere special for my daughters 21st birthday and thought this place would be nice. It was newer, clean and the location was right on the river. We were seated right away and our waitress gave us window seating so we could have a river view. I told the waitress it was my daughters birthday, hoping they would do something special for her later. We ordered a few drinks and made our food order. It took about 20 minutes before we were served. I ordered the burger and fries. My hubby ordered the fish and chips and my daughter ordered the mac N cheese. Everything looked good, however, my fries were lacking warmth and my burger bun was stale. It was not soft and fresh. I ended up not eating the bun, but just the burger itself. My daughters mac N cheese wasn't as great as she expected either. It was bland and dry. Yes, it had cheese, but it was stringy and not creamy. My husband loved his fish and chips. Hot and fresh and looked amazing. I did have a bite and it did taste really good. Note taken: Do NOT order anything but the fish and chips. When we were finished a new waitress gave us our receipt and asked if we needed anything else. I wanted to tell her we needed more water, but we were ready to go. I wish they would have filled up the carafe of water "before" I was about to leave. And..on top of that...no birthday surprise for my daughter. Some places sing a song or give a small dessert. There are two 7 Devils locations in Coos Bay. I am glad we ended up at this one. It's located on a body of water in a small collection of modern looking shops and restaurants. The menu is clearly marked for gluten free items and there was a decent selection. The kids menu was decent too. They are kinda elevated pub food. We had the sausage board (delicious!) and a big salad as our meal between us. They had a great beer and wine selection and we went with the house red and white. All good choices for us. The kids Mac and cheese was a little fancy with cheese and breadcrumbs baked on it. Great flavor but my picky eater wasn't having it. I hope your little darlings appreciate a crispy melty Mac topper. The food was fantastic! We actually went to their other location on accident and they were so friendly to point us to this location on the waterfront. The other location has a smaller menu and is in the city, this waterfront location has a full menu with entrees, and an incredible drink menu. The service was delightful, drinks never empty, and nothing was forgotten. Food was timed properly also. The ambiance was great, fancy enough to feel like money was well spent, but not so fancy you feel out of place wearing normal clothes. The Mac n cheese and steelhead bites were on a happy hour special and were perfect serving sizes to get both. Worth the wait! We got there at prime dinner time and had a wait, but definitely worth it. The views of the inlet/bay at sunset was beautiful. The smoked chicken with the cherry bourdon glaze was Smokey, flavorful, and sticky. The perfect complement to the chicken and the herb roasted potatoes. The sweetness and creaminess of the creamed corn completed the steelhead trout. The greens with bacon was the saltiness that the dish needed to balance it out without over powering the delicate fish. Oh and the braised beef with roasted carrots was the perfect soul warming dish after hiking out in the chilly weather. Very flavorful! Also we are from bourbon country (Kentucky) and their list did not disappoint! The prices were some of the best we've ever seen! The place was gorgeous, clean and relatively busy yet people were space out enough that it wasn't loud. The service was decent - our waitress was not bad but nothing particularly special. She had to be called over a few times when things were needed, she took our order, dropped the food and never came back. We had to go up to the bar to get our check and some boxes since we didn't see her and she never came over. Food seemed pretty good all around. Nobody had any complaints except for me, the ribs were the absolute driest thing I had ever eaten. But my dad's fish and chips were delicious, the mac n cheese was so great and my drink was out quickly and delicious. We stopped off at this local place as the reviews were so positive. Unfortunately it is not really as dog friendly as we had hoped. The area to eat with your dog was an outdoor side porch. With bar stools and high tables or counter. We were a party of 4 with 2 large dogs. The area is too narrow for dogs and wait staff safety there is one table that could sit four and accommodate table service safely , it was occupied. As we thought over our options another party arrived with 4 large dogs, like us they had read the reviews and the dog friendly note. So I think 7 Devils may need to clarify their dog friendly accommodations for the tourists. Those in our party without dogs did dine in and said the food was very good. It's been a minute since I've been down to Coos Bay, and this strip mall has just popped up here on the waterfront. A great many businesses, and this eatery stood out as a place to try. We were three couples and our three-year-old granddaughter, visiting from Galveston. A local couple suggested this place for lunch and a catch-up, and from the outside it looked promising with a nice waterfront view and a pleasant atmosphere. I'm 6'4" and over 300 lbs--a big guy by any measure--yet the hostess thought it wise to squeeze us into a booth in the farthest corner of the restaurant. Not exactly the most comfortable start.
