I have never been more impressed with a restaurant in my life! The owners, Steve and Crystal are absolutely amazing. When I told them about my son's severe food allergies, Steve basically shut down the kitchen to make sure there was no cross-contamination. They have a whole process for those with allergies, are gluten-free, or require other needs. You can tell how clean a place is by the taste of their drinks. At every place I have ever been to, the soft-drinks always have that, not-so-clean-dispenser taste. Not here. If you're not into alcohol, like me, you're going to get a soft-drink that won't taste weird or make you sick. The food was amazing. The burgers were thick and juicy. They hand-cut their fries. This was the best restaurant experience I've ever had. 10 out of 10, would absolutely recommend. While doing the tourist thing & sightseeing downtown, we stopped in here for a drink & to just sit down for a bit. The cool interior was a welcome relief. The bartender was very friendly & extremely helpful. She made a couple of suggestions for our thirsty & tired group which we greatly appreciated. Quick as a flash, we had our drinks on the table in front of us. I could see a couple of pool tables in the back room & it makes me think they must have a large group some nights. This is my second time here and the amount of food you get for the price is amazing. We had deep friend mushrooms, deep friend pickles and fish and chips. It was all awesome. Don't change anything on the recipes. The server was very friendly and great. This is my new favorite place in Coos Bay/North Bend. We stopped in yesterday for lunch. I had a tasty bacon mushroom burger with clam chowder. The burger was fantastic and the chowder tasted homemade. My wife had the chef salad and clam chowder also. She thought it tasted like her mom made it. They have fantastic staff and a laidback atmosphere. We are heading back tonight for dinner and live music!! A Great Local Spot! No tourists here. Very eclectic group of people (a good thing). The place has a couple of pool tables (50 cent play - horray!), the people are friendly, has kareoke, cheap drinks, food stops at 10pm and plenty of seating. Super chill vibe... Went here for lunch with a friend and I had the fish and chips and she had a shrimp salad the bay shrimp both were very very good fish and chips was $18.95, the owner came by, and was very nice. The coleslaw was the best I've ever tasted. He makes his own dressing for that and chops up the cabbage himself. We very much enjoyed our lunch highly recommend. read more

Came to Coos bay for my birthday and stumbled across this gem. The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming. The tables and bathrooms were clean as can be! They had some games available to play. We played a game of cribbage while we waited for our food which arrived promptly. We ordered a burger and the fish basket. The menu was small but that just means each thing on the list is made to perfection. Seemed to be elevated bar food and absolutely delicious. My fish was cooked perfectly and the fries were fantastic. Cole slaw was yummy! Burger was great! The owner even brought me a slice of pie (which was to die for) for my birthday!! So kind of him! I had high hopes for Coney Station. Went with a few friends after one of them spoke highly of the place. We waited an hour and ten minutes after ordering food and still no food. Everyone in the restaurant got their food that came in after us. Asked the waitress about the status of our food. She said it would be ready when it's ready. She never came to our table once after ordering. I asked to pay for my coffee so I could leave as our order still wasn't started. It took her 10 minutes to take my $2 for the coffee. One of the friends at the table asked what happened with the order. She told him "there's nothing I can say to make you happy. It was a mistake, that's it." Can't evaluate the food because we never got it but it was the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant. read more

We found this place while traveling up the coast from Calif. The fish and chips here were very fresh and had a wonderful fresh beer batter! The coleslaw was made fresh and made a nice refreshing taste against the fish. The fries were good but not really anything special. Home cut fries would have been a nice touch to this meal! A very pleasant and enjoyable dining experience all in all. The pricing was very good. Hubby had the homemade apple pie which was very tasty with a nice flaky crust and a robust apple filling made from fresh apples. Highly recommend. First time coming in to this bar and restaurant. The building lay out was really nice with lots of seating. The service was phenomenal. It was the best service we had the entire weekend from any establishment. The drinks were great and our waitress/bartender was quick and on top of everything, we never had to ask for refills. We ordered the friend mushrooms which were amazing, lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. We also had a slice of the rhubarb pie which the owner makes herself and holy cow it was delicious! A very large bar/family restaurant, more the former than the latter. The decor is very ecclectic, a sofa, scattered tables,tvs, a pool table, video games, juke box, and a toy train running along the edge of the room in the bar area. The menu is standard bar fare, somewhat limited, and pricey. I opted for the chef salad ($10.95) and ling cod fish and chips ($8.95?). The chef salad was large, but not $11 large. It was a plain chef salad, nothing special about it at all. The fish and chips were better. Four large pieces of ling cod on a bed of large cut fries with cole slaw on the side. The ling cod was flaky, firm, and mild. There wasn't too much breading on the fish and they weren't oily. The tartar sauce was decent, heavy on the dill and not too rich. The fries came seasoned and salted, way too much salt though. It really took away from the fish. The cole slaw was bad, large amounts of bitter red cabbage made it a loser in my book. Limited condiments for the fish and chips though, no malt vinegar or even lemon. Service was good, the one waitress/bartender kept my ice tea filled while waiting several other tables. The bill with tip came out to $25. I think my co-workers said it best when she said, "it is a better drinking than eating place". read more

We hadn't been to Coney Station for months, but after a fun matinee of Ant Man, we were hankering fir something other than the same old same old. Which anymore is usually Walt's. Well, now i remember why we cut back. The woman behind the bar is still great, and they still do what they do food-wise okay -- big portions and all. Decent draft beer selection too. But man, the grease. The starch. The greasy starch. It's like paying for a major league gut bomb. Another really weird development is that they now have a policy of running your credit card at the table with a handheld device. Including handing it to you to add in your tip ... while the server stands there looming over you. Even if we loved the food, we wouldn't put ourselves through that again. Adios, Coney. Where most restaurants serve up a 1/4 lb patty, The Coney's burgers come as a 1/2 lb. Large burgers with fresh, tasty toppings...lots of cheese, mushrooms....It was damn good. Stopped by Coney Station last night on our drive back down to California! They're open late which is great for travelers visiting the Pacific Northwest. (: The people here are super friendly. There are two billiards tables and a few pinball machines. I notice the space was quite large. There's a whole back room as well as a couch area with many TVs around. Fish and chip was recommended to us by our server so our table got two of that, an order of calamari, buffalo wings, a burger, and a chicken basket. I absolutely loved the calamari steaks. It was probably my favorite thing I had here. They use calamari steaks not the rings!!! Mmmhh. The portions here are generous. I probably should just shared the fish and chips. I ended up eating just the fish and picked off the beer batter part of my meal. It got too heavy since we had a ton of fried foods. read more

Came here for dinner one night with my mom and son.. the waiter was friendly and that's where the good ended. I got the French dip and it came out on what looked like a hot dog bun- super small sandwich, I ordered it with a salad and the salad was just old lettuce. My mom got a burger and a dinner salad, the burger was made with bad/older meat and her salad was also so gross she couldn't eat it. My son's food was just as gross. On top of all that we were over charged for my son's meal. Maybe this is a good place for drinks but that would be it. Really wanted to like this place.. won't be back though. read more
