I will have to say, I'm more of a Sharetea fan than Gong Cha. The quality of their tea tastes better and not as gritty from the tea as well as not being overly sweet. One star off because sometimes it takes a long time for drinks to come out even when there aren't many people waiting. We stopped by for a drink after hearing how long the wait was at Gen K BBQ. We needed a filler for the wait. I got a milk tea with no boba. It was pretty good. I have been to this Sharetea location multiple times and I feel like the quality is dropping slowly but surely. I order the same drink ever time to see if there was any improvement and there wasn't. I usually order the Okinawa Milk Tea with grass jelly, 80% sweet and less ice. The first time I had it, it was great. Perfect sweetness and everything. Now, it tastes like 30% sweet and I'm just drinking tea and creamer. I really do want to love you, I do. New favorite place for milk tea! PARKING: Plenty of parking located in an asian plaza. Parking spaces are kind of small though. Be careful of asian drivers and pedestrians. They give zero fuxks. DRINKS: My two favorites are the black milk tea w/ boba and the wintermelon crema. The wintermelon crema was the first drink I tried here, recommended by a friend. This was a new and interesting experience of drinking milk tea for me. You could drink it the traditional way or instead, cut a small opening with the utensil provided and sip from the drink until you get the salty crema layer then the sweet wintermelon layer and it all mixes in your mouth. This sounds very sensual, but it was really good and different experiencing in this way! The crema layer eventually sinks to the bottom so you have to drink it right when you get it. Also, I always get the black milk tea with boba and regular sweet and ice settings. Just enough tea flavor without too much milk. read more

Honestly, it's an okay boba place to get a quick drink at. I used to hear how good it was and I was looking forward to trying it. Now, I'm just kinda whatever about it. I've got always gotten the Winter melon Milk tea with pudding and some say it's comparable to Gong Cha (not the one in Milpitas). And I think that Sharetea takes the cake for their winter melon compared to San Jose Gong Cha. Today I got the Peach Green Tea with aloe vera and there was such a lack in flavor that it tasted like just plain watered down tea. I even asked the cashier about the Ai-Yu Jelly and if she could explain to me what it was or taste like...she was silent and just said, "it's jelly...". When this place first opened a few years ago, I wasn't a fan. Maybe it was the long wait, maybe it was the fact that they still got my order wrong, maybe I wasn't a fan of their offerings... That has changed. I recently tried the earl grey crema and I love it. It's a good place near where I live. It is probably the most expensive place (next to Teaspoon) seeing as the earl grey crema + grass jelly came out to $5.17!!! However, be warned: parking is HORRIBLE. The lot itself in small, although sometimes you can find parking in the plaza next to it. This plaza is also close to a Costco, so driving around here is a little unpleasant but not totally impossible. read more

I only get drinks at places like this socially and never on my own unless I have a ridiculous thirst for it or if there is a place that offers special drinks not offered elsewhere. I was first introduced to Sharetea in SF by a friend who swore they had some of the best drinks; I was excited to try it and ordered a recommended "high mountain green tea" in the morning. I was thoroughly pleased with the drink I had there. Coming here in the late afternoon with my local friend; I was searching for a non-caffeinated option (in which they don't offer many choices) :( I settled for the winter-melon (non-caff.) tea with 30% sweetness and little ice. They seemed to get the order spot it, it tasted pretty good. But it didn't please me like a Crema probably would have or high mountain green tea. They should really offer more de-caffeinated Crema options. Essentially with these tea places it all comes down to what you order, as soon as you order something you don't have a taste for then its game over... you'll likely have a bad impression of the place from that point on. Certain places make specific drinks better than others. Just like how Tpumps does combination fruit milk teas best IMO. Sharetea may do the best Crema drinks. Like I said I'm not a regular connoisseur of these places but I know a thing or two. The seating outside isn't really ideal cause its faces a residential area and the parking lot near the side isn't plentiful. Their drinks are top notch and are comparable to their San Mateo location.The only downfall is that the wait can sometimes be lengthy due to how long it takes them to make the drinks. Which is understandable, I'd rather have a well made drink than one that tastes watered down and straight up disgusting (ahem Gong Cha Westgate). I keep coming back for their black milk tea crema, however I wish they had Earl Grey tea, my favorite at Gong Cha Fremont. Okay, I love this place! They're pearls are AMAZING! There's just something so tasty about them. Milk Teas: DEFINITELY try the Hokkaido Pearl Milk Tea, just WOW! It's caramel and toffee and is my absolute favorite. I also, however love the Okinawa Milk Tea and the cookies and cream/Oreo one they have! At this point I should open my own milk tea shop. Sharetea is another favourite of mine in San Jose. To this date, i only goes to Pekoe, Tea Society, Sharetea, or Tealyfe. So what makes this place good? 1) Parking doesn't suck. Just park on the street or be a bad ass a$ian and park on the fire lane. Your call. 2) lots of seats outside. Thank god. 3) BIG MENU. Wow, i can actually read them without my glasses. Other milk tea places, take note, putting a top 10 list doesn't directly increase sales but increases your transaction speed. Don't do complicated menu or do some funky 12point black text on orange background displayed on a low quality printout. 4) No bunch of a$ians loitering in the store for hours plus. (Teasociety is gross because it's packed like sardines, Pekoe gets a pass because that's apparently how their business works) On to the drinks: Matcha Red Bean: Good matcha, red bean is made on the day. Hard to screw up. Hokkaido - err? Questionable, taste like that one store brand instant milk tea but with pearl? Okiwana - It taste like Hokkaido with brown sugar. no comment. Green tea crema - Good enough. Coffee milk tea - Not Instant Coffee, Good enough. So why the high review? I can get my milk tea in and out in less than 10 minute regardless how bad the line is. That's some top level optimization that this store got there. Plethora options of topping, pudding, grass jelly, whatever you want they probably have it. server is relatively cute looking sometimes. I love this place! I always get the oolong milk tea with pudding. I've had a few issues with too much ice, or not enough ice, but other than that it's all been good. Usually my drinks are not too sweet, which I love. Every once in a while I change it up and order something different. I recently discovered the Okinawa Milk Tea, it was pretty good! I didn't really like the Green Tea Creama. Weird taste, and way too sweet for me. The workers are really friendly, and help me decide what to get when I'm feeling indecisive. I came here one night with my sister and there were about 3 customers in front of us.. It took about 45 minutes for us to get our 2 cups of milk tea... That's obviously WAAY too long especially since it was kind of empty... Can't imagine how long it'd take if it was crowded... 4 hours?? We got some tea with the crema... By far, some of the best milk tea that I've ever had. The first time I ever had tea here, I DREAMT about the tea. I cried tears of joy while drinking it. This place is fantastic. Everyone who I have taken here loves it. It's a little out of the way, but I'm willing to drive here to get my boba fix. I came here again yesterday evening and I accidentally left my wallet in there! One of the workers ran all the way over to me to return it! Definitely giving another star for that. Came here last week as I was waiting for my dinner time and ordered the taro milk and black tea creama. I've had both at the San Mateo ShareTea and have loved both. The taro milk was still really good, but had so many pieces of crushed ice, I felt like I could barely drink it - I had to stop to chew or spit out the ice with every sip...I don't remember the San Mateo store having so much ice in it. UPDATE I decided to give this place another try after experiencing a not-so pleasant experience my first time here. My coworker and I were craving boba and Sharetea is one of the closest. Upon entering, you could definitely tell that the vibe here was different than last time. All of the workers were much more energetic (and no up-and-down, judging stares from the last time). The person taking our order (I believe his name was Yiting?) was super nice and attentive to what my coworker and I wanted with our drinks. I ordered a green milk tea with pearls and he made sure to ask what level of sweetness and amount of ice I wanted. I told him that I wasn't sure if 100% sweetness was enough (I have a HUGE sweet tooth) and he recommended a 120% sweetness level (that wasn't on the plaque with sweetness levels). The fact that he went above and beyond to make sure that my drink was customized to my liking definitely improved my opinion about this boba joint ten-fold from the last time I came here. I love the Sharetea in SF, but didn't want to go here for fear of the lines. A new boba joint opening in San Jose is like Black Friday part 2,3 and 7. I come to this Sharetea location quite often because of its proximity to my workplace. I haven't had any problems with their service or drinks. My go-to is the kiwi fruit tea with aiyu jelly. Some people may stay away because they don't like kiwi but I think the kiwi fruit bits are refreshing. The aiyu jelly is also lighter than boba or grass jelly. It's the perfect summer drink. The tea just tastes like light green tea (not much tea flavor) with a slight kiwi fragrance (like kiwi infused water). I don't actually know what tea they use. It isn't sour most of the time. If it is, it's only the fruit bits, not the tea that is sour. So, it would just depend on whether the fruit is sweet, which is always a gamble. I get it 30% sweet which is just enough. read more

Even though I might be spoiled by working right next to Gong Cha, I was pleasantly surprised by Sharetea! It's true, they took foreverrrrrr to make my drinks. But that's ok because they were mostly great. I got the Oolong Tea Crema for the bf and the Strawberry Black Tea Crema, both less ice/less sweet and with pearls. The oolong was good, still pretty sweet and nothing to rave about. They put SO MUCH creama on their drinks, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think I prefer Gong Cha's milk foam. Nothing wrong with the pearls, though, right on-point. But I will be coming back for this Strawberry Black Tea Crema because HOMG it was good. Sure, it doesn't taste much like tea. Sure, I felt a little shortchanged b/c I think a whole 1/3 of the cup was full of foam, not tea. But there's real strawberry puree in there and little bits of strawberry and it was tart and sweet and creamy and I died a little. Hmmm I don't understand how this place gets so crowd but there's also only like 5-6 tables that sit like 2 people each. Sigh I miss the space of barcode. I got the coffee milk tea less sweet, but it still came out very sweet to me. I'd have to come back and try just the regular teas which I usually order. Drinks come out semi quickly, but we had good timing since afterwards, there were like 20 people in line. Overall, prices are eh. I think a little higher than other places but I think prices are going up everywhere. Place is too small to sit around and chill for too long. Since I live really close, I've been here a good amount of times, really just because I love their Taro Fresh Milk so much. I've tried a few of their other drinks (all which were pretty good) but since I've tried their taro fresh milk, it's the only drink I get here and my toddler loves it as much as I do. They don't have some flavors you might expect from other milk tea places (such as thai tea or more fruity options like cantaloupe or watermelon), but similar to Gong Cha, you're able to adjust the sweetness and ice levels. Also, pay attention, because some of their drinks already come w/ add ons (such as their taro shake w/ egg pudding) It's definitely been a hit or miss on how long the line can get. One thing I did notice though, is that they seem to be improving, every time I go there, they get more efficient at drink making which in turn makes the wait not so long. The most it took was 30 minutes (10 minutes of waiting in line, then 20 minutes to wait for my order), and the fastest they were was my last visit and it was like in n out in 10 minutes and that's probably because I ordered 4 drinks. p.s. they also have Five Stars rewards for those who love frequent buyer cards. read more

His customer service is unimaginable this guy is the real deal, a man w a plan. He knows the whole menu on demand. This guy needs to get a raise for the best customer service in San Jose. My second favorite boba place in San Jose (with Soyful being the first lol). It's nice because it's super close to my house too. The only drink I get here is the Wintermelon tea crema with grass jelly (they call it herb jelly at Sharetea). I usually get 50% sweetness which is pretty perfect for this drink. Make sure you shake it before putting your straw through it! The grass jelly gives a flavorful texture to the drink and the Wintermelon flavor is perfect! I've tried other drinks such as the mango tea crema, which was pretty awful. It tasted like fake candy mango and was super off putting. The Oreo milk tea wasn't bad but kinda tasted generic to me. Not a bad boba place for the area though. So glad San Jose is beginning to pop up so many good places! read more

My friend took me here after class and the first thing I thought when we were around the area was how cramped/bad the parking is. It's quite small inside too, but they work quick so you don't have to stay in there for too long. Their menu didn't have that many choices and I got the Hokkaido milk tea with small pearls. It came out within two minutes, maybe because we were the only ones in the store at that time, but either way it was still quick! Their drinks are ridiculously sweet, so I normally opt for the 50% sugar option. The boba is chewy and soft - not the best I've ever had, but certainly enjoyable. Recently had Gen house on Wednesday and decided to give another try. Got the classic pearl milk tea. It was too milky, masking a slightest hint of tea. Just no. There tea taste watered down and not like normal tea spots where you can taste the flavor of the tea. They might have used lipton black tea for grass jelly milk tea. I was so disappointed. Compared to the likes of I-Tea, etc that are a few miles more out of the way, I would make the trek no complaints. The service was quick but the dude who rang me up was unhelpful. I asked them about their specials, apparently you get a discount if you use five star or something... no explanation no nothing. After i asked him for said special and he asked about five star or something (i assume that's what he said because he was mumbling) and i responded no, he said forget it, and continued to ring me up for the normal price. Granted it was like a discount of 50 cents or something, but he could have offered to explain...Whatever.... i won't be back anyway.... for convenience factor, for those who live in the neighbor, i can see why they are busy.
