Ambience is very dark. They have TVs, but the aren't on. When we came in around noon, the sign was turned to closed. We had to ask of they were open and the employees laughed at us and said yes... so I turned the sign for then. They had 2 employees sitting on the counter and 2 messing around on their phone, so not really a good look when coming in. The place was very clean, so that was nice. I don't feel the food is worth the price, my son and I spent almost 40$ on 2 orders of tenders, fries and a drink. My 11 year old said, "the meat isn't very flavorful" which, it is not. Last time I came here they had some salt or other seasoning with their tenders, this time, nothing was on them. You do have the option to toss them in a rub or BBQ, but I remember them being better before and didn't think it was necessary. Note to everyone, it is. This was my son's favorite bbq place in Charlotte, NC. He would eat there every time he came to visit. And every time I went there I would buy a few bottles of bbq sauce to bring home to CA. Eventually, that location closed but my son is still ordering the bbq sauce online. Imagine how happy he was when he saw there was a location in AZ. Of course we went while we were in town for the World Baseball Classic. I ordered my usual pulled pork salad. Unfortunately, they only had ranch or blue cheese for salad dressing. My son ordered the Big dad sandwich which is pulled pork on Texas toast. The pulled pork was really good and lean. The employees were helpful but one seemed to either be new or not knowledgeable when we asked for bbq sauce she was confused as to what kind they had. I am not sure why they wouldn't have 5 stars because the meal that I had was awesome!!! The ribs were perfectly seasoned and fell off of of the bone. The pulled chicken was perfect in texture and went well with the slice of toast. The sweet potato French fries were and so was the fried okra. I loved that they had pink lemonade which is my favorite drink. The portion of food was actually a nice portion. The prices are just like everywhere else... everyone is going up! ($25 for my meal) The staff were all nice and very patient. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering the SuperBowl lines . The location in the outdoor mall was easy to locate as long as, you remembered the street that it's located on. There's plenty of parking on a normal day to this mall but during events it can be a little tough to find parking. I'll return someday when I'm in the area. My wife and I moved to Arizona back in June. We had an apartment next door to Westgate and we are disappointed we didn't try Shane's before we bought our home in Verrado. We have eaten here twice, once before a Cardinal game and again this evening. The food gets an A+, the buffalo chicken fries I think they are called are amazing. My wife has had the pulled chicken both times are has really enjoyed it both times. I had the brisket sandwich the first time which was real good. Tonight I had the spicy chicken sandwich which was real good as well. Both visits the staff was super friendly. They were appreciative of our business and made us feel welcome. We are Cardinals season ticket holders so this will be our new pre game meal spot. Great job team. read more

I tried a burger (can't find an updated menu with the name of it) with a side of fries. The burger was noticeably hefty, most of the weight coming from the huge patty which was a nice surprise. The one downside might be that because it was so big, it didn't have enough structural integrity to hold up and the beef was a little crumbly. The flavors were still nice and the beef patty was juicy. The beef patty was smothered in ranch and topped with shrunk down, but crispy bacon. Lettuce, onions, pickles, and a tomato came on the side to use up to your discretion. The fries were great, no complaints there. If you're ordering any burger, beware they will be a bit of a wait, around 20-25 minutes which they do notify you of at the register. The dining room had a few tables that were left dirty with no one coming to clean them up for the stay. In the end, Shane's is a decent option for casual dining if you're in the Westgate area. read more

The cobbler - both thankfully were warm, but that still didn't help. The peach one was so hot the styrofoam bowl it was in started to melt, and it was mostly cobbler with barely any peach, and didn't taste like anything. We tried this place today for lunch and never thought it was possible for food to be this unappealing. It's just not good. The plate came with ribs, chicken tenders and chopped/shredded chicken with sides of coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The ribs were dry and tasted like propane. The chicken tenders were dry, rubbery and had no flavor to them. The chopped or shredded chicken was flavorless as well, even though the amount of sauce on it should have added some flavor to it. The mac and cheese tasted like generic fast food mac and cheese. The coleslaw tasted like it came from the prepackaged section at the WalMart deli area. The BBQ sauce was not very good. Even the toast was bad - how do you mess up toast? I would love to say something about the service and ambiance like Yelp is asking me to, but the food wasn't good to the point where it doesn't matter. I personally love the 10 boneless wings this is my usual order that I get either the barbecue or the mango habanero which usually it's not very spicy but lately it has been pretty spicy. The only thing I don't like is since it's around a stadium and when there's events it gets super packed and takes a while to get your order or to even get a parking but overall service is good. She got the nachos and I got the sausage plate. The chips for her nachos were stale a flavorless. The cheese for the nachos was the kind that tasted plastic-ky and out of the can. Went to Shanes last night about 630pm, place was pretty empty there was about 6 people sitting at tables and no one else waiting in line. I had to wait for the Manger who was on the phone letting a member of staff know it was slow and not to come in. Once he finished the call I was greeted friendly. Started to make my order and mentioned the Groupon and was promptly told that the terms and conditions of the Groupon state no holidays. It was Valentines day. I asked when that became a holiday as the financial institutions and government employees all had to work. The Manager said Shanes sees this as a holiday as its on their calendar. To that I had a highlighted Groupon conditions thrust in my face. Well their terms and conditions state cannot be used on holidays. So I said it just says holidays and I asked again when did Valentines day become a holiday everyone had to work today. I cannot believe I was not the first this manager had to explain this today as he was clearly frustrated and replied with even less tact than before. Shanes see this as a holiday as it is on our calendar again thrusting the terms and conditions at me. No apology, no tact, just plain we dont want your business attitude. If any company hides behind terms and conditions rather than customer service that's a bad sign right there. At this point I said maybe Shanes should list the days it considers holidays on the terms and conditions so the rest of us understand. Seriously, my calendar lists St Patricks day, Bastile Day, Ramadan, Mexican Independence day, Kwanzaa, Passover, Channukah, Grandparents day there is always something listed on a calendar, not all are classified as 'holidays'. Good, quick BBQ Even though it's something of a BBQ fast food place, I like Shane's. The half-slab is a lot of food and two of their sauces are yummers. The meat doesn't have as much smoke favor, but is tasty and not fatty like some places. One cool aspect of Shane's is they have a number of options that appeal to our kiddos. They usually go for the breaded chicken tenders, but can also go for a simple cheeseburger or the Mac n' Cheese. Their pulled pork sandwich gets pretty good comments, as well. And my wife loves sweet tea, so it works that they have that. You can come across a person at the register who will not wow you. On balance though, service staff are usually cool. The citrus chipotle bbq sauce had an amazing flavor and good kick to it. The sampler came with ribs, chicken tenders, pulled pork or chicken, and two sides, which I chose mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone good.
