This was my 1st time here. The service here is similar to other Indian restaurants because you ordered & paid the food 1st before you seat. They offer free chai tea. I think the tea was a bit more diluted. I didn't taste the chai/tea flavor much. It was too milky for me. However, they do have delicious curry. It was flavorful. The seasoned just right. This curry (Murghi Korma Shahi) had a flavor very close to Vietnamese curry. I will come back to try different dishes.

Been a while since I've been here. FREMONT has plenty of Indian Pakistani restaurants.. this is a mainstay. Kept it simple today. Some Daal, and then tandoori chicken and garlic Naan. When you come into restaurant it has the aroma of the tandoori oven

Really good Indian/Pakistani food. 3 locations in the bay. I love these hole in the wall looking type of places with authentic and non elevated prices. It's a busy place with the majority of their customers being of that origin so you know it's legit. It's an order at the counter and self service, open seating place. They will bring your food out to your table though. I would suggest grabbing a table even before ordering, but the table turnover is fast. Free Chai tea Nihari $14, Chicken Tikka Masala $14, Murgh Tikka Lahori $5, Bengen Bhujia $10, Naan $2, Garlic Naan $3. All the food was good. Flavorful but not too salty. Great prices and portions were reasonable. The naan is unlike any other naan we've had. It's more thick but not super bready, very unique. I prefer thin and crispy but I liked this kind as well. It just comes down to personal preference

The food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended! Everything for $13

Food was great and authentic! The bread is the most popular thing on the menu. I tried onion and aloo and garlic bread and all were so fresh and layered! Chicken karahi was delicious! Paneer tikka was good too! Ambience is not the reason you should go here as its a mess and not very clean.

The chicken legs were burned on both sides. They didn't give us any chutney. I will still order food from them, but I will open the bag before I take it home.

Absolutely great place yo eat even if uou are a vegetarian. 1. I know Shalimar for a long time and the Ftemont location is one of the best 2. Humble people and simple fanily like atmosphere to eat and socialize 3. If you ate looking for candlelight dinner like ambience, then you surely are at a wrong place 4. I ordered Palak Paneer, Paneer Masala and Alu Naan. Just awesome food 5. They give free chai, onions, jalapenos and both sweet and spicy chutney 6. They also have a great orange masala (spice) to put on top of onions 7. Never tried their mango lassi but will try someday.

Regular & Garlic naan, tandoori chicken, beef kabob, tikka chicken masala, mater paneer

The restaurant was very busy, which likely explains why the service felt a little lacking. The ordering system wasn't my favorite. It felt rushed and not very inviting, almost like a cafeteria or galley-style experience rather than a sit-down restaurant. I was also surprised that no one asked about our preferred spice level. Even with those shortcomings, the quality of the food more than made up for it, and I'd still come back for another meal.

The delicious marinated meat, curry, garlic naan and .... daal. And this from a guy who doesn't usually like daal. At least not OTHER people's daal, this was excellent. I ordered too much food expecting to take a bunch home. We ate it all. The service isn't much-Order at the cashier, take the puck, pick up the food at the pass through counter when the puck buzzes. Get your own water, napkins, and table service near the counter. The building looks like an old burger barn with light remodeling and paint work. It can get crowded with Pakwan's regulars so stake out a table when you arrive. Good news is you are here for the food and that's top notch, authentic North Indian Pakistani food. Enjoy. My family and I, two adults and two young children, came here during Ramadan for iftaar. Before arriving, I specifically called ahead to ask whether we needed to come early because I understood restaurants can become very busy during iftaar time. I was told that arriving 10 to 15 minutes before iftaar would be perfectly fine and that our food would be ready around the time of breaking fast. Based on that reassurance, we came about 20 minutes before iftaar expecting a smooth experience. Instead, the moment we walked in, it felt like we were invisible. The restaurant was crowded but not chaotic. We sat down and waited while servers walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us. Eventually, I had to flag someone down myself just to place an order. I even asked directly how long the food would take because we were fasting all day and had two small children with us. The server confidently assured us the food would arrive around iftaar time. That never happened. When iftaar finally arrived, all we received were dates and water. No appetizers, no main dishes, nothing. We continued waiting while table after table around us received their food. Meanwhile, our children became increasingly upset and hungry. Anyone with young kids knows that after a full day of fasting, asking them to wait another 20, 30, even 50 minutes is nearly impossible. Our kids were crying, exhausted, and confused as they watched other families eat while we sat there with empty plates. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of honesty and accountability. Every time we asked about our order, we were told, "It's coming soon." Then eventually the server disappeared entirely for nearly 20 minutes and avoided us altogether. A woman later approached us, but instead of apologizing or taking our concerns seriously, she became dismissive and defensive. By this point, nearly 50 minutes had passed since we ordered, and she still insisted we "shouldn't complain" (in Farsi) because the food would come "soon." That response was honestly more upsetting than the delay itself. A simple apology, honesty, or basic compassion toward a fasting family with small children would have gone a long way. We eventually left the restaurant feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What saddened me most is that this happened during Ramadan, a month centered around patience, generosity, hospitality, and good character. In Afghan culture and Islamic ethics, guests are supposed to be treated with dignity and care, especially during iftaar. Halal is not only about the food being permissible. Halal is also about honesty, fairness, respect, and how people are treated. Sadly, this restaurant failed in all of those areas. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a welcoming family environment.

We came in on Saturday at 11:30 to an empty restaurant, but by noon it was packed. We ordered the mantu, bolani, a few kabobs, and the lamb shank challow. The appetizers were great - the mantu had a great flavor and felt very hearty. The leek and butternut squash felt homey and warm - our waitress said they were her favorite, and were so glad she gave us that recommendation! The leek paired nicely with the yogurt provided, as it was a little spicy and had an aroma pretty similar to chives. The squash bolani was slightly sweet, and almost felt like an in-between for dessert. Having both was a nice contrast. By far the murgh (chicken) kabob was our favorite skewer, as it was the juiciest meat, and quite tender. The table ranked the chaplee (ground meat, with a hint of spice) next in terms of flavor and texture, and teka (tri tip) was slightly more dry and bland compared to everything else. The lamb shank was quite tender but smaller than expected for the price; it still had a nice homey flavor though I prefer when restaurants provide more of that braised juice to go alongside the dish. I don't eat cilantro, so had requested there to be no cilantro in any dishes, but they said they couldn't remove it from the salad, so was a little sad about that. We also had to request for Overall, would highly recommend the chicken kabob and bolani - would love to come and try other appetizers too.
