This restaurant serves lunch buffet. On April 10 I went to eat lunch buffet and I was very disappointed. The quality of food was below poor. One label written (fruit) and there was only one fruit orange sliced up. Many items looked dry and dark colored. As a home cook expert I know when you prepare a dish it gives fresh look but the non veg items didn't look or tasted fresh. Tandoori chicken dish was empty. Few other dishes tray were also empty. They serve lunch buffet till 3 pm and by 2 pm many trays were empty or very little food. Overall no taste at all. I don't recommend this place and I definitely will not go back again. read more

And on this particular day, that reward came in the form of one very specific craving: a deeply aromatic, mouthwatering, spice-loaded plate of biryani. I had been to Biryani Junction before, though it had been many months. What pulled me back was not just hunger. It was memory. Specifically, the memory of that rich aroma that stays with you long after the meal is over. This time, I ordered the Chicken Ghee Roast Biryani. I originally butchered the name in my head and called it something else, so my apologies to the menu and to the biryani gods. But now that we have the official name right, let me say this properly. This dish was excellent. My immediate reaction? Mouthwatering, intensely aromatic, and stomach-growling good. Honestly, just typing this review is making me hungry all over again, which is unfortunate because I am supposedly on a diet. We do not need to discuss how that is going. The ghee roast chicken was wonderfully fragrant. The moment I got home, I opened that takeout container faster than I open a can of soda. The aroma rushed out and filled the house so quickly I am fairly certain it woke my lazy dog from his sunbathing session in the corner. And the rice. The rice deserved its own round of applause. Light, fluffy, and beautifully coated with flavor. The kind of fluffy that makes you want to pause for a second and just appreciate what is happening. Then came the first spoonful, and that was pretty much the end of self-control. Once it hit the taste buds, it was game over. Spoon after spoon, the dish just kept pulling me back in. Now, a friendly warning for anyone who and spice are not on speaking terms: this biryani has real heat. Not playful heat. Not a gentle little tap on the shoulder. This one bites back, and it bites back with confidence. I grew up in Southeast Asia, so my palate has been trained on spice from a very young age. You could say my taste buds were raised in a reasonably spicy neighborhood. Even then, this one still had a solid kick. So no, this may not be for everyone, and that is perfectly okay. That is actually part of what makes places like this interesting. It is always a bit of a balancing act for ethnic food businesses. Do they stay true to the original flavor profile, including the spice and intensity, or do they tone it down to appeal to a wider crowd? Personally, I appreciate that Biryani Junction leans into authenticity. I would much rather experience the dish as it is meant to be, even if that same authenticity comes back later in the day to remind me who is really in charge. So yes, if you are feeling adventurous, I say go for it. You only live once, and sometimes the spice only attacks once too. Not sure if this is the same as the Milpitas spot we love and frequent, but we gave it a try since it's closer and the Jackfruit Biryani really sounded good. It was perfectly spiced, with tender & juicy jackfruit. We also got the Paneer Tikka Masala which was phenomenal, and the Garlic Naan was pretty good. Fair warning - pickup took a while, even with a pre-order. The front desk lady seemed overwhelmed with the number of online orders, and there was a mix-up with someone else's order too. So definitely expect a wait. Overall, the food was worth it. Definitely coming back to try their Paneer Briyani and other curries. read more

I ordered Kadhai Paneer spicy with Garlic Naan 2. The Ambience was average but we found nice table. 3. I went to Biryani Junction as one of my friend mentioned they have Rumali Roti, and I was craving for it. We tried vegetarian dishes Malai Kofta, Paneer 65, and Rumali Roti. All were good in taste. I would try Jackfruit Biryani next time. The ambiance was good and clean, but I had to-good order, so I didn't sit and eat there. Tried this place three times. First time: Ordered chicken lollipop and chicken masakalli on a weekend. It was a five star experience. They were delicious, fresh and very good quantity. So, ordered again the next weekend. Second time: Ordered fish masakalli, Romali roti and ghee roast goat biryani. Four star experience. Reduced one star because the biryani was a little underwhelming. But still good. And the other items were great. Third time: Recently ordered again on a weekday. Got chicken masakalli, romali roti and family pack Hyderabadi chicken dum biryani with a side of carrot halwa, chilli chicken and mango lassi. One star experience. All the dishes tasted stale, insanely oily, and everyone who ate it in our house fell sick immediately. Also, they just gave the chicken masakalli instead of chilli chicken for the side. This place has never missed for me. Obviously I can't speak to authenticity, but they have good portions and flavors, and are pretty efficient with fulfilling takeout orders. For reference, I tend to order medium spicy generally at restaurants. Their Hyderabadi veg dum biryani is pretty spicy for me, so I mix in the yogurt it comes with and that brings the heat down enough. This is the best veggie biryani I've had personally, the flavors are complex and are not overpowered by the spice. The veggies are cooked well and I like that they include potato. (Yes I know biryani is a meat and rice dish, but the veggie version is still yummy okay!) The takeout container will have the layer of veggies or protein at the bottom, and then fluffy seasoned rice, topped with fried onions and cilantro. The Vijayawada fish biryani is much less spicy and the fish is fried and delicious, decent ratio of fish to rice. I do not prefer the egg biryani because it's not very much egg and mostly rice. The portions of their biryani overall are excellent, they really pack the takeout container to the brim and it can last you two or three meals. Their chana masala and egg curry are also delicious. The egg curry comes with just 3 hard-boiled eggs, but the masala itself is so flavorful. Spice level of these are very tolerable for me. Naan is on the thicker, fluffy side. The food has been consistently good in my opinion. I love the texture and flavor of their rice by itself even before mixing it with the protein. Overall a reliable spot! read more

Let me start with the attitude of the lady at the front desk. What a joke! I complained her about the biriyani having little to no masala and just plain basmati rice in the name of egg biriyani with 3 halves of eggs. And the response I got from her is to call her and complain the same day since I called her the next day she said she can't do anything about it. When we had dinner was about 11.30 pm in the night and it was about closing time for them so I called the next day politely to share about the experience. She said if you get the box and show us then we will do something about it . When I told I will get it and show then she flipped to saying you should get it same day !! Such a shame! Worst customer service ! I was a regular customer at this place and thought they value the feedback in good faith and do something about it. Instead she hung up the call on me saying OH MY GOD !!! I have seen this place shut down atleast 3 times in the past due to this same issue. I think these people are following the pattern here .. Get rid of the lady in the front desk and get someone who knows how to deal with the customer !! We pay money for the food and we need to get what we pay for. This place is recommended by a a parent of one of my wife's students. Due to the recommendation we had high hopes.. Those hopes are dashed, however, in the execution. First of all, they said it would take 30 minutes and it took an hour for the food to be ready naturally I would expect everything to be fresh . The Naan did not seem fresh. Street noodles were actually pretty good (desi style , vege), The chicken 65 was flavorful, but they just seem something off about it, The chicken unfortunately was overcooked and dry, and didn't have the flavor permeate through the meat. The butter chicken was actually pretty good, although there wasn't a whole lot of chicken in it. I forgot to order the biryani. We went to their booth at Diwali festival at Fairgrounds. When I reached their booth they told me it's cash only after waiting for 30 mins in the line and can't accept credit card. Why can't they would have put a cash only sign like other vendors. All dosas that were available were either plain or onion ones, so I ordered a cash only ($10) onion dosa. the person making dosa threw a few chopped onions pieces on batter in style and hurriedly made one like he is going to miss his airplane to Hawaii if he has to spend 1 more minute making it. The size of dosa was quite small too. When we sat down to eat, it was half cooked, you can taste the batter and raw onions. Ended up throwing it after a few bites :-(. read more

Seems to be a small chain, as when I typed in their name for the search, several popped up...just here in the east/south bay. Menu and look of the place also has a chain-ish vibe and not so much indy. Even though they have a few tables in there, they pretty much aren't using any of it anymore, I'm sure after 2020. And boy can this place rock the take-out orders, from phone-in orders to door dashers literally on top of each other during the prime dinner hours. Lamb Seekh Kabobs ($11/3.5*) Ground lean lamb that is nicely spiced. Definitely a bold chili flavor without it being 'hot'. I'd say a light mediumish burn. Didn't really get any grill flavor so it either was cooked at a lower temp without charring or done in an oven. I like it with a bit of char on the exterior. Really lean so it comes off a bit dry, not even close to sausage texture, even though it looks dead on like it. The lamb flavor delivers though so I'd get it again. Shrimp Biryani ($14/3*) So the basmati rice part was spot on. Fluffy in texture and spiced just right. Now when they add the protein whether it be lamb, chicken or shrimp, it just seems like they take a curried (stewed) version of that protein and just scoop/top it onto the rice. The shrimp was excessively smothered in this super spicy paste-like consistency of a sauce. It was very bold and in-your-face, to the point that you really couldn't taste anything shrimp anymore. Just assertive spicing. Which is why I don't really go out of my way for Indian or Thai food, it is just so layered with spicing that you often lose the main ingredient. Plus the shrimps were so overcooked that they were basically very spicy rubber erasers. So we ate all the rice, just can't say the same for the shrimp. Chicken Quarters Tandoori ($4/ea/4*) Nicely spiced where I could still taste the chicken, so props on that. Smallish quarters that still had juicy meat. But again not much char flavor or smoke flavor that I associate with a legit tandoor oven. With that basmati rice, this is easily revisit-able. So okay value here as they do give out a decent amount of food. For about mid $30's, we were able to feed 3 plus some leftovers. I would try this again, but I think there are a lot of options in this type of food for my area, that I may want to try first. So may be a while. read more

Saw this place pop up recently on a trip to Dollar Tree. I ordered food for my family over the phone and went to go pick it up. They do not yet have indoor dining, but they seem to have a lot of to-go orders. We ordered: 1. Goat ghee roast biryani 2. Chicken Masakali 3. Achari Chicken Kebab 4. Gongura Goat Curry We definitely ordered too much for 3 people, the portions were large but that is what you would expect from an Indian restaurant of this caliber. The goat ghee roast biryani (1) was delicious, it far exceeded our expectations. I consider myself somewhat of a biryani connoisseur and have probably tried a majority of the biryani spots in Fremont. The biryani here is not overloaded with spice, but rather is very simple and tasty. I would say this is one of the better biryanis I have had in a long time. The chicken masakali (2) was tasty as well, it was more of a dry dish with lots of spices. The achari chicken kebab (3) was tender and juicy, typically what you would expect from an Indian kebab. The gongura goat curry (4) was different than what we were expecting, it was a bit sour from the gongura leaves, but my dad really enjoyed this. It was different from other goat curries we have had. Love the fact that they have a very tasty high protein biryani for vegetarians! They are the first ones to start serving high protein biryani to the vegetarian community and I am so so thankful for that. The kaju-soya (cashew and soy chunks) biryani is a must try, and if you don't like cashews you can ask them to remove them. Delicious! My partner also enjoys their special boneless chicken biryani and gets it every week. We both enjoy their double ka meetha (bread pudding) as well! There is plenty of parking nearby and many other stores. Inside the restaurant there is plenty of seating space. We usually do takeout but it seems like a nice place to hangout! Was going to be a wait ok no worries understandable. When I came in to my right there was a party of like 10 people eating at the restaurant. When I came back in to get my food I asked if we can sit down and they said NO take out only. I'm there with a stroller too by the way coming in with a baby isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world and these people said no when clearly there was just a party of 10 that just left an employee was cleaning after them. I get maybe there was a language barrier and had it been close to siesta time I would have let it go. BUT as you can see from receipt from the time I order and received my food about 20 mins after ordering it was no where near 3PM.
