    Ghee Roast Dosa
    Chinmay S.

ID Company has become my go-to spot for what I call "variety dosas" in the Bay Area. I'm still surprised this trend hasn't caught on in more restaurants here - especially since there's no shortage of South Indian eateries. What sets this place apart is its unique fusion dosas, which are incredibly popular in cities like Mumbai, and Bangalore, in India. I absolutely love their Vijayawada Chicken Dosa and Karaikudi Goat Keema Dosa - both are spicy, flavorful, and filling! We've also tried the Mumbai Pav Bhaji Dosa, Jini Dosa, and Ghee Masala Dosa, all of which were excellent. The Jini Dosa, a Mumbai street food staple, was particularly memorable. Wash it all down with their Masala Soda (with Thums Up), and you've got a winning meal. The space is cozy but comfortable, and service is fairly quick. Highly recommend, and I hope they maintain their standards over the years!

This is the second time we're here. Good food. I really loved the Madhu Vada and the paneer tikka dosa. Jini dosa and vijaywada dosas were good as well. Quick service. Kid approved as they enjoyed the ghee dosa. Hole in the wall ambience, decent and inside Newpark Mall, next to AMC. Do note that it is best to park on the basement level of the garage at Newpark mall, it is the closest to the cafe.

Our friends had told us about this place a few months back but it used to have shorter hours at the time we couldn't try it out but now that they changed their timings it's become more convenient. Very authentic and delicious food. Located in a convenient place with lots of Costco parking. It does get quite crowded on the weekends. It is a lowkey self service place. We got the hyderabadi dosa and karam podi idly. Both items were really good. Quite spicy for me but it was mentioned on the menu as 2 chilli levels so it was expected to be spicy. We also got filter coffee and rose lassi. The rose lassi was very sweet but the filter coffee was perfect.

It's a go-to place for the comfort of Idly and Dosa meals. Food tends to be on the spicier side however nothing beats the simplicity of Ghee roast Dosa here. It's a self-serve place which is mostly busy.

If you're chasing big flavors and comforting bites, ID Company is a must-visit! We ordered the punugulu and vijaywada chicken dosa. The punugulu were golden, crispy, airy, and addictive with every dip. The Vijayawada chicken dosa was a flavor bomb: spicy, savory, and wrapped in a perfectly crisp dosa. Every dish felt fresh, vibrant, and packed with an authentic South Indian flair. A true gem for anyone who loves bold, soul-satisfying food!

Its a bit tricky to find this because the maps just brings you outside the mall. This place is next to Kay jewelers. The person at the counter couldn't care less about what I wanted to order. And when the order was ready, he literally grunted to let me know. So customer service is not their strong suit. Coming to the food. Ordered (to-go) 3 kinds of dosas, vada and punugulu. The order was ready fairly quickly and was packed really well. Vijaywada Chicken Dosa: The dosa and chicken was tasty and was more than enough for one person. Mumbai Jini Dosa: I grew up in Mumbai eating the Jini dosa. It doesn't taste anything like it, but tasted good either ways. This is one spicy dosa fyi. Plain Dosa: The dosa was surprisingly crispy even after the 40 min ride home. Vada: Nice and crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Punugulu: This was crispy as well and tasted good. Was a little more salty than I have tasted at other places. Overall I feel the food was very good, but the service didnt complement it.

not usually a fan of South Indian food, but this vijaywada chicken dosa was absolutely incredible! If you like spice, this is definitely the dosa for you. It comes with a small bowl of sambar and 3 different chutneys. This place does get crowded and it is self service, so very much a hole in the wall. The ambience is not that great but overall the food hits the spot. Definitely would come back for the chicken dosa again!

Tried this spot a few days back for a takeout. And I would recommend dining in this restaurant :) they have a lot of options! The ambience is decent - just people rushing in craving "not so traditional" South Indian food. There are good numbers of chairs and tables available inside the restaurant. It was a clean place and good looking place for family - nothing fancy. About the food- 1. Well my partner was really excited about the tava idly- it was nothing but disappointment for us. It looked pretty good but the the flavor was pretty weird. Not sure if it was too much garam masala or what; but the taste was 2/5 for us. Food quality was good - no complains there. 2. The vijaywada paneer dosa was good. It was a little heavy and filled with paneer. A little too greasy as well. I wouldn't go again for this item- 3.5/5. You might actually like this dosa if you love paneer. 3. The Hyderabadi bandi dosa was yummy- a must try! I and my partner absolutely loved it. It was interestingly flavorful, not too greasy/ heavy and had a perfect balance of spices. It had podi. Sambar and all chutneys were yum! Definitely the star of the show. But sambar was too less in quantity, come on it was the same size as the other 3 chutneys! Please note, they charge $1 per dosa box for takeout. Well, the dosa was packed really nicely. The box is so well done. The dosas didn't become soggy and a quick reheat on the tava made it better as they suggested. I was a little out off that they put a newspaper(the usual black inked ones) inside the box and then placed the dosa. Why would you not use a proper Bounty/ Costco paper towel after charging me a dollar. Costco is right there! :) This restaurant is located right at the entrance of the Newark mall next to Costco. You will have no trouble finding a parking spot! :)

TLDR : Great food, quick and wonderful service, nice ambience Looking for a different Dosa option, we Chanced upon the ID Company and really enjoyed our food. Liked the quick and street side style of self serve service. Loved the different dosa options out here. We tried their Jini Dosa and Paneer Tikka dosa. The dosas were nice and crisp with the masala tasy and with a nice spicy kick to it! Also loved the fact the they came upto the table and asked for feedback. Teja checked in on the guests and making everyone feel welcomed! Highly recommend!

One of the best South Indian food I have had in the USA. They have variety of dosas, from across India , Hyderabadi bandi , pav bhaji , Mumbai Jini dosa etc . The Idlis are big and soft . The vadas very crispy. The sambar is thick and a little sweet ! Loved the chutneys as well Service was great/ friendly people . Ambiance - clean place.

This is one of the best dose of places in Fremont. There are super fast super delicious. The only problem that we faced is their portions are super small so if we didn't order on time, we were kind of hungry because then they would have a long line.. it's a self-service and it's super clean according to that.

    Hyderabad Bandi Dosa

You cannot walk pass ID company without getting lured by the amazing south India tiffins aromas coming from the restaurant which is also conveniently located at the entry of Newpark mall right next to Costco. I got pulled into the small eatery which reminded of typical tiffins place in india. Run by Telugu people with lot of energy and offering a variety of dishes. I ordered the Hyderabad bandi dosa which is in their speciality menu. Usually I play it safe with classics but wanted to try this. I liked it. Onions, tomatoes, layer of upma, tasty Karam podi and crispy dosa. Served with piping hot sambar and 3 types of chutneys. Ate happily and satisfied my home town cravings. Wouldn't say it's omg as there are many good Andhra tiffins in the east bay, but this was quite good given the location. Quick service, super crowded (that shows how good they are and how much people are loving their food), decently clean. Next time will try other things.

Ask the Community - ID Company

Are they generous with chutney or provide extra chutney on request?

Is the food vegan friendly? I'm particularly interested to know if the sambar provided with all dishes is vegan (ie cooked in oil instead of ghee).

We currently have ghee in our Sambar. We are planning to have more vegan friendly options in the future

    Do they have outdoor seating?

They dont have outdoor dining as i remember

Do you serve any jain items (no onion, no garlic, no potato)?

Plain dosa, Ghee roast dosa , idly all are Jain items. BUT the chutneys may have garlic/onion

It was one of those weeks. The wallet is getting thinner, the bills are warming up in the corner,…read moreand payday is taking its sweet time getting here. Add in the home repairs, the endless chores, and the nonstop kid schedule, and by the end of it all, I was running on fumes. Sometimes, a person just needs a small break from the daily grind. A little reward. A moment to say, "You know what, I deserve this." And on this particular day, that reward came in the form of one very specific craving: a deeply aromatic, mouthwatering, spice-loaded plate of biryani. I had been to Biryani Junction before, though it had been many months. What pulled me back was not just hunger. It was memory. Specifically, the memory of that rich aroma that stays with you long after the meal is over. This time, I ordered the Chicken Ghee Roast Biryani. I originally butchered the name in my head and called it something else, so my apologies to the menu and to the biryani gods. But now that we have the official name right, let me say this properly. This dish was excellent. My immediate reaction? Mouthwatering, intensely aromatic, and stomach-growling good. Honestly, just typing this review is making me hungry all over again, which is unfortunate because I am supposedly on a diet. We do not need to discuss how that is going. The ghee roast chicken was wonderfully fragrant. The moment I got home, I opened that takeout container faster than I open a can of soda. The aroma rushed out and filled the house so quickly I am fairly certain it woke my lazy dog from his sunbathing session in the corner. And the rice. The rice deserved its own round of applause. Light, fluffy, and beautifully coated with flavor. The kind of fluffy that makes you want to pause for a second and just appreciate what is happening. Then came the first spoonful, and that was pretty much the end of self-control. Once it hit the taste buds, it was game over. Spoon after spoon, the dish just kept pulling me back in. Now, a friendly warning for anyone who and spice are not on speaking terms: this biryani has real heat. Not playful heat. Not a gentle little tap on the shoulder. This one bites back, and it bites back with confidence. I grew up in Southeast Asia, so my palate has been trained on spice from a very young age. You could say my taste buds were raised in a reasonably spicy neighborhood. Even then, this one still had a solid kick. So no, this may not be for everyone, and that is perfectly okay. That is actually part of what makes places like this interesting. It is always a bit of a balancing act for ethnic food businesses. Do they stay true to the original flavor profile, including the spice and intensity, or do they tone it down to appeal to a wider crowd? Personally, I appreciate that Biryani Junction leans into authenticity. I would much rather experience the dish as it is meant to be, even if that same authenticity comes back later in the day to remind me who is really in charge. So yes, if you are feeling adventurous, I say go for it. You only live once, and sometimes the spice only attacks once too. If your taste buds can handle a little drama, this is absolutely worth a visit. Thank you, Biryani Junction. I truly appreciate the aroma, the flavor, and the originality.
