Masala Dosa, Papdi Chat, Pani Puri, Mango Lassi

10 Stars for the Masala Dosa alone!* The potato filling is more delicious than I remember! The lentil soup (daal) is served on the side of the dosa and is the most flavorful I've EVER had. (God I hope they remain consistent!) The coconut sauce and tomato "chili" sauce is standard. The Pani Puri is alright. I'll skip this next time. Nothing to write home about! Maybe I'll order the yogurt one next time? I know that one's a bit more flavorful but not by much! The Papdi Chaat is usually good but felt like it was missing something this time. I might actually try ordering a different type of chaat!? If possible. Idyll was really good but that's likely because it's served with the same sided as the amazing Masala Dosa. The Punjabi and Gujrati Thali's are good my family alway seems to enjoy they! Good way to taste a bit of everything! I'll come to Jay Bahrat time and time again but really only for the dosa because they have this on lock! I hope they remain consistent! I've tried different flavors of the dosa and will likely try a few different flavors in the future! Even though they don't make my favorite desi (Indian / Pakistani) dessert (raas malay) all the other mitaaay are sweet, clean, fresh and delicious! Give 'em a try again the dosa in my opinion is the most flavorful here but the other dishes like the Pani puri or Papdi Chaat are better elsewhere!

    Gujarati thali

Had heard great reviews about this place so finally drove from South Bay to Newark to try out so called most authentic Gujarati thali . I thought the place overcharges for thali that is served in disposable plates. Undhio was good but everything else was very spicy for Gujarati food . They also offer kathiyawadi thali , thought they offered some spicy curries from that menu in Gujarati thali . It would be more pleasing to offer thali in a good dinnerware instead of disposable plates if they want to justify $17-18/ thali price .

expensive vegan food, small portion, serve on the paper plates, the taste is mediocre. the only good thing is the mango lassi.

    Kathiyawadi Thali* ***

Overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. Tried their Kathiyawadi Thali and it was just OK. The curries in it were so ordinary. No one would go to a restaurant and expect to have tendli ( ivy gourd) and usal (moong ) for curries. Also, the Undhiyo wasn't that good either. The only items good in the Thali were the Bajra Roti , Garlic chutney and Kadi. The Srikhand was served as if it was a pickle. Overall, it wasn't worth the price. What was surprising is that when ordered for rice separately for a non Thali , an extremely small cup of it was given and it was for 4$ . Lol, have seen this been given complimentary in many other places. If not, def not 4$.. lol But, yes one of the only few places in the Bay Area for Gujarati cuisines. Appreciated the fact that the staff let us in and allowed us to dine even when it was almost closing time. ( 5 minutes before closure) Hopefully, see some changes in the Thali items the next time both in quality and quantity.

    Masala dosa (8.99) dining outside.

Jay Bharat is an Indian vegetarian place. didn't examine entire menu. just pick masala dosa. it was fantastic! just take out or outside dining only. eats: masala dosa (8.99) small soup, side masala sauce, coconut dessert. -masala dosa was huge with potatos in the middle, masala sauce on the side. -small hot soup was tasty, had some kind of bean in it. -small tasty coconut dessert was provided-yummy. everything tasted fresh. doubtful it could have traveled far without losing it's fab taste.

A nice indian-gujarati restaurant in Newark, CA. This place have few authentic gujarati dishes which is hard to find elsewhere, like Tuwae Kachori, Pattis etc. and there taste is also good. I love Tuwar kachori as a snack. Staff is also friendly and they have ample of sitting space. They have some sweets options as well. I would have loved if they offer fresh hot crispy jalebi.

    Dhokla

Their food is really stale. Seems there is not much circulation. Most of the times their dhokla are moldy. You could see multi colored fungus on it. It makes sense to drive to South Bay and buy from a place that has better circulation.

Add in the home repairs, the endless chores, and the nonstop kid schedule, and by the end of it all, I was running on fumes. Sometimes, a person just needs a small break from the daily grind. A little reward. A moment to say, "You know what, I deserve this." And on this particular day, that reward came in the form of one very specific craving: a deeply aromatic, mouthwatering, spice-loaded plate of biryani. I had been to Biryani Junction before, though it had been many months. What pulled me back was not just hunger. It was memory. Specifically, the memory of that rich aroma that stays with you long after the meal is over. This time, I ordered the Chicken Ghee Roast Biryani. I originally butchered the name in my head and called it something else, so my apologies to the menu and to the biryani gods. But now that we have the official name right, let me say this properly. This dish was excellent. My immediate reaction? Mouthwatering, intensely aromatic, and stomach-growling good. Honestly, just typing this review is making me hungry all over again, which is unfortunate because I am supposedly on a diet. We do not need to discuss how that is going. The ghee roast chicken was wonderfully fragrant. The moment I got home, I opened that takeout container faster than I open a can of soda. The aroma rushed out and filled the house so quickly I am fairly certain it woke my lazy dog from his sunbathing session in the corner. And the rice. The rice deserved its own round of applause. Light, fluffy, and beautifully coated with flavor. The kind of fluffy that makes you want to pause for a second and just appreciate what is happening. Then came the first spoonful, and that was pretty much the end of self-control. Once it hit the taste buds, it was game over. Spoon after spoon, the dish just kept pulling me back in. Now, a friendly warning for anyone who and spice are not on speaking terms: this biryani has real heat. Not playful heat. Not a gentle little tap on the shoulder. This one bites back, and it bites back with confidence. I grew up in Southeast Asia, so my palate has been trained on spice from a very young age. You could say my taste buds were raised in a reasonably spicy neighborhood. Even then, this one still had a solid kick. So no, this may not be for everyone, and that is perfectly okay. That is actually part of what makes places like this interesting. It is always a bit of a balancing act for ethnic food businesses. Do they stay true to the original flavor profile, including the spice and intensity, or do they tone it down to appeal to a wider crowd? Personally, I appreciate that Biryani Junction leans into authenticity. I would much rather experience the dish as it is meant to be, even if that same authenticity comes back later in the day to remind me who is really in charge. So yes, if you are feeling adventurous, I say go for it. You only live once, and sometimes the spice only attacks once too. If your taste buds can handle a little drama, this is absolutely worth a visit. Thank you, Biryani Junction. I truly appreciate the aroma, the flavor, and the originality.

This restaurant serves lunch buffet. On April 10 I went to eat lunch buffet and I was very…read moredisappointed. The quality of food was below poor. One label written (fruit) and there was only one fruit orange sliced up. Many items looked dry and dark colored. As a home cook expert I know when you prepare a dish it gives fresh look but the non veg items didn't look or tasted fresh. Tandoori chicken dish was empty. Few other dishes tray were also empty. They serve lunch buffet till 3 pm and by 2 pm many trays were empty or very little food. Overall no taste at all. I don't recommend this place and I definitely will not go back again.
