10 Stars for the Masala Dosa alone!* The potato filling is more delicious than I remember! The lentil soup (daal) is served on the side of the dosa and is the most flavorful I've EVER had. (God I hope they remain consistent!) The coconut sauce and tomato "chili" sauce is standard. The Pani Puri is alright. I'll skip this next time. Nothing to write home about! Maybe I'll order the yogurt one next time? I know that one's a bit more flavorful but not by much! The Papdi Chaat is usually good but felt like it was missing something this time. I might actually try ordering a different type of chaat!? If possible. Idyll was really good but that's likely because it's served with the same sided as the amazing Masala Dosa. The Punjabi and Gujrati Thali's are good my family alway seems to enjoy they! Good way to taste a bit of everything! I'll come to Jay Bahrat time and time again but really only for the dosa because they have this on lock! I hope they remain consistent! Overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. Tried their Kathiyawadi Thali and it was just OK. The curries in it were so ordinary. No one would go to a restaurant and expect to have tendli ( ivy gourd) and usal (moong ) for curries. Also, the Undhiyo wasn't that good either. The only items good in the Thali were the Bajra Roti , Garlic chutney and Kadi. The Srikhand was served as if it was a pickle. Overall, it wasn't worth the price. What was surprising is that when ordered for rice separately for a non Thali , an extremely small cup of it was given and it was for 4$ . Lol, have seen this been given complimentary in many other places. If not, def not 4$.. lol But, yes one of the only few places in the Bay Area for Gujarati cuisines. Appreciated the fact that the staff let us in and allowed us to dine even when it was almost closing time. A very sad experience.It is expensive,dirty and staff are rude.For 5 people the bill came to $117. I will never ever order GulabJamu from here again. very bad experience. They charged me for the regular Gulabjamu for a gathering event, but they gave me the gulabjamu made from Gits instant mix. Jay Bharat is a friendly strip mall restaurant offering vegetarian Indian food and snacks with specialties from the state of Gujarat. The Kathiyawadi Thali was a great dish for sampling lots of different items from a region in Gujarat known for its spicy cuisine (whereas most Gujarati food has a sweet flavor profile). The thali came with two thick, dry bajra (pearl millet) flatbreads, dhokla (light, airy, steamed besan cake with a sour flavor), and pettis (potato fritter stuffed with a spiced coconut and nut mixture). The vegetables included a potato and pea curry, undhiyu (spiced beans and root vegetables including potatoes, eggplant, taro), and black chickpeas in a tomato curry. The condiments included gur (jaggery) and a spicy red garlic chutney, and the thali was rounded out with masala khichadi (spiced rice mixed with lentils and peanuts), kadhi (warm yogurt soup), shrikhand (thick, sweet yogurt topped with crushed pistachios), and jeera chaas (cumin buttermilk) to drink. Over the weekend we ordered Undio and Chapatis from Jay Bharat. The quality has deteriorated a lot. The undiyo was not undiyo but something else. Very poor ingredients and taste. The chapatis were a little bigger in size than pooris and of poor quality. They charged 50c for the chapatis which was was a rip off for chapatis of that size. Been hear for multiple times. This is the place for our comfort food. You get an authentic Vegetarian Gujarati food. Food is definitely good. I like people who works here. They are super sweet and helpful. Service is super quick. We usually do take out and order multiple items like Undiu, puri, daal, rice, dabeli, vada pav, Srikhand, Masala khichadi and khadi. We have also tried Gujarati thali and the Punjabi thali. Undhiyu is not Surti style lilu undhitu, but more of central gujarati style, delicious regardless. The take out packaging is really good. This is an amazing Indian restaurant that we found via yelp and visited it in early 2020. I was really surprised to find this amazing restaurant that I have never visited till now. As soon as we entered, we found it really clean and not overcrowded. Ambience was great as the music was not very loud but nice and catchy songs for playing in the background. The menu is displayed on The top. We decided to go with Gujarati Thali and Vada pav. Gujarati thali was amazing and it had rice, 2 curries, one lentil, one dal,raita , papad, dessert, dhokla and one more gujrati snack. Each and everything was delicious and it simply felt homemade food. The food was so light and so fresh so delicious that I didn't feel like I ate something outside. The quality of food was so amazing and the rotis were soft and fluffy, dal had the right amount of sweetness, desert right amount of sugar. Everything was just perfect and I'm glad that we got to order their amazing Thali. Vada pav was simply delicious. It had a good amount of sauces and spices. The potato in it was very fresh. In one plate we got two Vada pavs. In the end we got tea which was good. Will be back soon to try more of your items. The best thing is they had a good amount of staff, which is a rarity in Indian restaurants in the Bay Area these days. I have dined in this place long time back. recently did some party orders for snacks. Visited first time to check their snacks and the find out the price for their party trays. The gentleman I interacted, i guess the owner himself, was very friendly and helpful. they don't have a party tray as such; but they will adjust the prices if we are making bulk purchase. I was primarily interested in getting different samosas from there. Picked up one order of different samosas during my initial visit. We were totally satisfied with the taste and quality of the snacks they gave us that day. Went there again later that week to place the order for our party. It was super easy, the gentleman was still remembering me and hardly took 5 mins to finalize the order. I paid the money upfront. Two days later when I went to pick up the order, it ready. Samosas were warm and fresh. They have packed it really well so that the freshness won't be lost. Again, the quality of the snacks was too good. Delicious and our guests enjoyed them. Updating my review! I initially only experienced this place at the Indian Independence Day Festival which was a tad pricey. The actual restaurant is way better. I ordered the chole batura. Just as buttery and fatty as you would want. My family ordered thalis. This place is GUJARATI so expect some sweet dal! :) The prices are definitely the cheapest among Indian places in Fremont/Newark. This place is more like Cash-N-Carry in that it's casual, cheap, and fast food-like. Would definitely be back! Visited this place after a really long time. It used to be my goto place, for veg food. Today I was in a mood to eat Vada pav. I placed the order, and was waiting happily when a staffer came to me and said that they don't have vada pav, and they can offer something else. I just asked for a refund and left. Since I didn't eat (couldn't eat) anything, can't comment on it. However, I don't understand how they could not have vada pav, which is by far the most popular dish, and that too, on a Sunday evening. Very disappointing. read more

We use to come here very often, upon entering the service was very slow as they had many workers all busy with a large order. We ordered the Punjabi thali and it came out to about 20 bucks. Comes with rice, kadhi, option between rotli or puri, chole, paneer, and undhiyu which is not a Punjabi dish. Also includes raita, gulab jamun,chaas, samosa and khaman. The portions were very small just enough for one person not served in a thali just plastic dish probably due to covid which was 3 years ago.
