Samosa Chaat
Keerthi D.

Chandni Chowk is a chain chaat place that serves high quality street food in the Bay. This location in Fremont is a food truck where you can get live pani puri (you get 8 with 1 order and can choose which of the 5 panis you'd like to try). We did have to wait in line for a bit for our order, but the samosa chaat was flavorful and delicious. The pani puris were also unique and fun to eat. This place is great for a quick snack and good vibes, and it's also next to to Deccan Morsels and Apni Mandi.

First time trying pani puri as been popular on tik tok and didn't like it. It was so plain, no cilantro or onion. The soup part was fragrant, but everything else, just plain....

The atmosphere would make you feel like you're in India. My friends and I had their chhole kulche and golgappe. The service was super quick for chhole kulche but golgappe since it's live counter it's a little slow. The chhole kulche were piping hot which was awesome. It tasted great but wouldn't say it was authentic kulche. Golgappe were not bad. They had 5-6 flavors of paani, but in my opinion apni mandi has better golgappe.

Food Truck Ambience

Live pani puri with several options for the pani is their top sellers. You get a buzzer and at once 2-4 folks are served live. Great idea in an excellent location with good ambiance. The surrounding place is lively, gives you good Indian street food vibes. Chole kulche and dahi poori didn't impress as much as pani puri. Several revisits only for the live pani puri.

TL;DR: - pass on the chai tea and try the momo dumplings next door instead. parking: - generous parking available wait time: - zero ambiance: - unique food truck experience that comes with several fireplaces and music. food: [Not Worth It] - chai tea: decided to try this since we wanted a hot beverage on a chilly evening night. Everyone else around us was ordering this so we thought it likely was good. It was not the case! It tasted very bland and thick-- after 2 sips I couldn't finish it.

The place has a great atmosphere with cool lighting and oil barrels repurposed as standing tables, plus a cozy fireplace. We tried the chole-kulcha and chai. The chole was tasty, but the kulchas were a bit underwhelming. However, I really enjoyed the chai!

Banta soda 5/5 and dahi sev puri 3/5

Found this amazing gol gappa/ pani puri place that satisfies my delhi craving after 8 years of search!! Love their short and sweet menu and fantastic dance songs blaring out of a food truck near apna bazar indian store in fremont. The staff is friendly and the line is always long :) They have live paani puri counter where u can choose from 4-5 different flavors of dipping water - so cool!! I just loved the "khatta meetha". Another highlight for me was the banta soda or kanchhe wali bottal if u all remember from school days back home in india. The masala and the tastte was so refreshing and nostalgic. Mazaaaa!! Slightly more expensive for the price i would want to pay at a food truck but worth it for gol gappa and banta $6. Chk out menu pic below. Dahi sev puri was average - good quality ingredients but very soggy and over loaded.

i love pani puri!! there's not much here in washington so this was a real treat. it's live so you eat them immediately as they hand you one after the other. it's fun to do this with someone else or a group. my favorite was definitely the khatta metha which has tamarind in it! it's refreshing and savory at the same time.

Dahi puri chaat
Ajit S.

Colorful food truck (as in North India) and they play bollywood music to set the vibe. We tried the golgappas with spicy water (they have 5 kids of water to choose from). Also Dahi poori chaat. The Dahi poori chat was great but we have had better at other places. This place has lot of potential. Expect long lines so if you want to avoid crowd, go when they open (4pm). Strictly vegetarian menu. There is a momo truck next to eat if you want meat based options.

Matka chai

Chai is awesome. First time, I found a place in bay area that serve chai in kulhaad. Its definitely expensive - but good to try once. Good part is their location. Lot of other food places and grocery store there. Expect a lot of crowd on weekends. Will try other items next time.

Indian street food truck

Chandni Chowk is a colorful food truck next to a parking lot of a large Indian grocery. this food is typical Delhi street food. the scene at night is lit with colorful lights and Indian music. dining is on steel drums, no chairs, standing room only. offerings: live pani puri. 5 panis: mint, kala khatta, khatta meetha (spicy), pineapple, pomegrate. flavors mostly watery fruit flavors, chaat, chai, chloe kulche. eats: live pani puri (8/8.99) -puris are fried hollow, crispy dough balls that can be filled with liquids and/or food condiments. the puris here have basic pani (liquid flavors). -the puris are filled one by one by vendor, placed in a small food tray, u eat it whole. process repeats with another one. one can have a variety of pani. -i liked the mint and fruity ones. the spicy one is interesting, *not suitable for take away. made individually to be eaten immediately. take outs: -food is fresh tasting. limited menu -while take away is possible. eating it asap is the best option for optimal taste -lots of parking in the parking lot. -gets busy at peak times in the evening. -hours skewed late afternoons on. weekends are all day.

Where to begin. This spot just hits different. It's nostalgic on wheels. Its one of the few places in the bay that serve live pani puri. And they have multiple flavors. The service is comparatively fast, based on the amount of people that crowd up this spot. Also, there is always Indian music playing which makes you wanna dance :D Apart from the pani puri, which is very good, I have also tried some of the other chaats here which are very tasty as well. The food along with the ambiance here makes me wanna drive 45 mins to reach here :)

Chole
Ramona B.

One of the best Indian food trucks in Fremont. They serve tasty chai in clay cups (disposable) making it feel super authentic. My favorite item from their menu is chole with is serviced with chapati/roti but I like to get an extra one. If you're a fan of spicy food then you'll love the food. The food truck is located across from Fremont Apni Mandi. The parking might be a challenge but not impossible. On the weekends this location gets super busy making it a fun place to visit. Would definitely recommend.

It's just a little cold in there for some reason. We started with a watermelon spritz and the inji-puli lotus appetizer since we'd never tried anything like that, and it was very yummy and had such a nice crispy but soft texture. It was also a good portion for all four of us. We got the goat curry and the chettinad spice vegetables, and a few parathas to share. We were afraid it wouldn't be enough but the parathas are actually very filling, and also have a really great texture of both crispy and soft, and delicious flavor. The curries were good, could have used a bit more salt but good spice. The stars of the show were the desserts - this deserves its own section because omg I'm still thinking about the desserts!!! We got the gulab jamun brûlée - an amazingly well done take on creme brûlée with a perfect top, easy to crack and beautifully flavored. The filling was amazing and sweet and so so yummy. They also were kind enough to give us a complimentary chocolate cake which was absolutely amazing. I'm generally not too impressed by chocolate but the quality of this cake was phenomenal with perfect sweetness and richness. I need these two again !! Definitely recommend coming here for an occasion.

The space is absolutely beautiful, which explains why reservations are so hard to come by. I somehow snagged a last-minute outdoor reservation for four, but three more people joined us at the last minute. When we arrived, I asked a gentleman who looked like the manager if we could move indoors because it was cold. Even though they were very busy, he found us indoor seats in a perfect spot -- we definitely got lucky. We were a party of seven, half of us vegetarian. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and everything was great, but the vegetable biryani stole the show for me. I don't come from India, so take this from a non-native -- it was hands down the best veggie biryani I've ever had. The flavors were incredible, and it came with raita and a chutney that paired perfectly. I kept thinking about it even after trying everything else. Other highlights: the gunpowder idli was mind-blowing, and the lotus root appetizer (my first time trying lotus root) was a delightful surprise -- great texture and flavor. The dosa was soft and exactly how I like it (I'm not into crispy dosa), and the paratha with the vegetable curry was delicious too. The meat dishes my friends ordered got rave reviews from them as well, but I was still daydreaming about that biryani. Service was excellent -- the staff were kind, patient, and especially attentive to the kids in our party. When the restaurant is busy there can be a wait for food, but trust me: every bite is worth the wait. Highly recommend Anantara if you want a beautiful dining experience with outstanding food.

I loved the pan-tini ( non - alocoholic) it was not overly sweet, very fizzy refreshing drink with bits of pan leaf which was a delight when you bite into it. Mango chilli drink was awful though. Dahi puri was served quickly, it was very sweet for me. The 65 sizzler was flavourful, the chutney complimented the assortments of paneer, Gobi and veg pieces well. We had ordered garlic naan to eat with the sizzler but it was sent to us 15 min after we ate the starter. :/ Then we had to wait another 15 min munching on the cold bread while we waited for paneer balti and tandoori roti. The staff offered to take back the cold naan which was much appreciated. Paneer balti was very indulgent. It creamy and on the sweeter side. Garlic naan was delicious. I wish they served raw onion and lemon on the side though.. it would've elevated the experience for me. Will be returning to try the plethora of the options in the menu. Also, I'm very confused as the interior decoration screamed South Indian, but the menu is very mixed and focused on the sizzlers and indo Chinese , tandoor ..

I revisited after six months only to see that the service hasn't improved a bit.Took almost 50ish mins to get our goat & chicken Mandi. Food however is really nice, have tried their Mandi (chicken & goat both), haleem , chicken 65 (takeaway) & pathar ka gosht and apricot crème as well as tea. It was sweet, flavorless, dry and lacking spice - four out of four people didn't like it. I definitely won't be trying it again. The Mutton Biryani, was flavorful and definitely many times better than chicken biryani. The Haleem was the absolute best item we ordered and a definite hit, making it worth trying again. Be warned about their 'Family Pack'. It's advertised as a family size but serves about two people, not definitely four, which is quite pricey for a 32oz bucket at $40. While the Haleem's quality justified the price as a seasonal item, the 'Family Pack' concept for biryani is poor value. I'd recommend the Haleem and Mutton Biryani, but steer clear of the Chicken Biryani and don't expect the "Family Pack" to feed more than two, 3 at best.

We ordered the Naga special chicken curry, the brinjal curry and the shrimp mango curry( that comes with rice), and roti and naan. Portions are ample , place is clean and service is satisfactory. Our sever Gopal took care of us in a timely and friendly fashion. The food itself, I mean , the flavors are all there. Each dish tastes unique and you get a sense you are eating out. No home style simple cooking here, the spices are intense and each dish has a bite. Isn't that why you go out to eat? Prices are really good, if you consider what other places charge for entrees. And everything comes out piping hot and fresh. So don't wait till the weekend to try it out, go today!

I wish they'd leave a tray of napkins on the table instead of the need to repeatedly ask for more napkins (because some of us/some cultures can't stand the oiliness on their hands...). I also wish there was more variety on their menu especially regarding the veggie curries... what happened to palak paneer? :( ...also found it to be strange that their online menu was different especially regarding the apps portion. Plus I always order rice and when I saw multiple tables ordering rice, it was just a bowl of white basmati rice...wished they'd flavor it like multiple other establishments.
