i ate here three or four times already. do not expect much for the service. the place is quite dirty sometimes, restroom too. foods actually not bad but for me, the tastes sometimes not constant. may be the chefs are in the bad mood, but still acceptable... read more

Go here if you are a hardcore meat eater and care not much about the ambience. This is a Pakistani restaurant who takes their meat cooking seriously. From Bheja Fry to Chilli chicken everything is great. The veg on the contrary is below par. If you are a vegetarian who even despises the smell and sight of meat. Please Avoid. Reminds you of a Non Vegetarian DHABA :) read more

The garlic naan was very dry and the paneer masala was very cold and greasy. I used to love eating at Shalimar but seems like the quality has quite deteriorated. read more

I felt so out of place here! It was packed, service sucked cause I didn't have the right color skin. I ordered 2 Chicken Tikka Masala's = was to spicy and not I was used to Regular Nan & Garlic Nan = I've had better Plain Rice = YUCK Tandori Chicken = ordered LEG only so it was juicy! Overall - I would be back to get the chicken legs for my dog but will go next door to get fish n chips instead for myself... read more

Every time I come here I eat like a cow. Super good food and very friendly( middle eastern) style. Friendly from the heart not from the mouth. Congrats to kitchen stuff and especially to the bussers. They work like they are in cihad. Inshallah we will see more shalimars around. read more

Butter chicken was spicy but the sauce didn't have any real flavor. We ordered garlic naan a la carte. It was soft and fresh. It was also huge and could easily have fed 2-3 people. Chai tea was hot, sweet and delicious. Atmosphere was austere, could use some updates. Windows in the open kitchen but the dining room itself had no windows. read more

Shalimar is my all time favorite restaurant! I have eaten at all three locations(Fremont, SF, and Dublin). I grew up eating the food in Fremont and when they opened the location in Dublin, my family couldn't have been more thrilled. We have a standard order that we get at the store. The boti chicken is amazing with the green chutney. The naan, rice, paalak paneer, and milli julli subji are a couple of my other favorites. I also really like the ginger chicken. Their food is a little bit on the oily side but it is still some of the best food I've ever eaten. read more

Food was decent. Service was non existent. Not very clean flours and seating area was pretty old. Looks like a place only caring for sale and not attention to customer service or cleaniness. Would not recommend. read more

This is our go to Pakistani restaurant, mainly because it's the only decent one close by. I wish they made malai boti more often - it's their best dish but they almost never make it. . read more

The food is great but their service is hard to explain. The cashier is funny, no eye contact, he basically asked "what you want?" I said "Nehari and 1 naan", he grabbed my credit card out of my hand without asking, swiped it and kinda threw it back my way with the receipt then went on to do his thing. I was laughing to myself the whole time. I will go back because the food is good. However, I don't want to see how/who prepares the food and how sanitary their kitchen is. read more

Went here for lunch randomly as we were in the area and thought we'd try it out. The food is AMAZING! It is a hole in the wall and the interior is very random but the food is crazy good if you're into Indian food. The Tandoor chops are awesome and the chicken Biryani is perfect. The prices are pretty reasonable too. Will definitely be going back! read more

Yelp definitely mislead on this one. Food was waaaay to oily. And it wasn't even that spectacular to make up for being that oily. This was not my favorite Indian food restaurant at all. I had the Eggplant and the spinach/potato. Eggplant was really extra oily. Spinach dish was alright, it was pretty good. With all that said, I will go back and try a couple dishes I'm interested in, but all in all, I think there is better. read more

this was my first time eating Pakistani food and it did not disappoint. however, I will say that it definitely burned my face off! I'm not the best at eating spicy food. all in all, it was definitely worth it. the food was authentic, well flavored, and a total value. I would highly recommend. read more

Small portions and poor service. Could not take and deliver a simple order, food finally arrived late and cold. Not worth the wait. Unfriendly staff. Rip off!!! Don't waste your time. So many other BETTER places to choose from in the area. read more

Always liked their tandoor chicken legs and sheesh kababs. Not so great place to have a conversation, as the noise levels go very high. Simple place if you are in mood for chic legs. They seems to be doing ok on the cleanliness- it was very bad in the big ginning days. read more

This place serves excellent food with just the right amount of flavor and spice. It's a busy place offering both take out and dine-in options. The seating area offers 'no frills' and is on the slightly dirty side - but as the food quality is tops, this doesn't bother me. Very much looking forwards to my next visit! read more

This visit was like a quick meal in a foreign country. Loved it. Order up front, staff was helpful but eager to get through line. I get it. I know what to order now. The meat...wow. So juicy and filled with herbs and spices. Get the bread. Omg, so hot we couldn't handle it. Awesome. The free chai tea is incredible. Thank you. The rice is spicey and delicious. I ordered the saag because it is what I knew. Too many better things, I wouldn't order it again. The staff was helpful, make sure you tip. He works his tail off. The tables and floor were a bit sticky and dirty. But I did mention the visit to a foreign country, right? Looking around at other tables, I noticed all used bread instead of silverware. This place is legit. Loved it and can't wait for my kids and I to experience it again. read more

Delicious! Spices and favors are amazing. Came here for lunch with some work friends and we couldn't stop raving about our food as we gobbled it up. Garlic nan = garlicky goodness, but bring mints if you're going to interface with anyone. We'll all be back. read more

One of the best places nearby for Indian Food. I love the tandoori chicken. Garlic Naan is something which is hard to digest and can be avoided. Bhuna Ghosht and Ginger Chicken are pretty good too. Goat biryani and brain masala are extra ordinary. Issues are that service is pathetic. Seating is also very uncomfortable. read more

These guys get an absolute zero for customer service. I typically go to the one in Fremont where they appreciate recurring customers but these guys in Dublin always get orders wrong and are standoffish about it. In my last experience with them, they missed a couple dishes from our take out order that we only noticed it when we got home. This is after they confirmed twice that they got the order right during payment when I asked them. Upon calling them, I expected an apology that they missed the items and was expecting them to make us another batch, unfortunately these fools said it was my fault for not checking and that they were not responsible for it. That it was too bad, they wouldn't make another batch for us to pick up and they hung up on me.... Basically it was our fault for believing them that the order was complete and that we would not be taken care of for their mishap. So for that alone, I refuse to ever eat here again and will simply go to the one in Fremont. The lesson here is open up your take out orders and give them hell if they miss anything... They don't deserve anything else... read more

Favorite place for Indian. Food is really good, and I definitely recommend the chickpea dish.try this place out, yum!

Not going to comment on the food here. The hygiene of this place is extremely questionable. But to top that off, if you ever interact with the guys taking the order or the cashier, its like they don't even want you eating at their restaurant with so much rudeness and arrogance. There are plenty of horror stories in terms of interaction I've had from folks who've been here. Wouldn't go here if you're expecting service of any sort. read more

3 stars for good food. The place is run down. I cant eat there sometimes because it feels dirty. i wouldnt eat from a filthy place but its run down and not kept well that it make it feels dirty. Best restaurant ever good food and great service! Love their biryani. The most delicious food ever.

This place is horrible ! Im giving only one star because food is good. Service is horrible as well. When we came in all tables were dirty, and the chairs where covered with pieces of food. Waiter poured some sprite, over left from previous guest , and cleaned the table in front of us . Spoons and plates were dirty as well! Just horrible . They really need to take care of that place! read more

The food is good quick Indian cuisine. Reasonably spicy but not melt your face hot. everything is ordered at the counter so service is minimal. Can be a little greasy sometimes. My favs are the palak paneer and chicken seehk kabab. Raita is good. Naan is good. only negative is that the place needs a serious cleaning and some paint. read more

Good food. Period. No flashy interior, no over the top hospitality, only good tasty, delicious Indian/Pakistani food. The best Biriyani in this side of the Bay bridge. The Kebab and Tandoori platters are also pretty amazing. one of my fav places. read more

Dirty. Awful food. Had to return one item due to stale meat. The place equally bad service.

In my opinion, I typically like the Fremont location better than the Dublin one simply because the Dublin one lacks customer service. My family always orders to go because of the restaurant sanitary. I gave 2 stars for good food only. Every time I would come and pick up, I would always come with another person simply because I can't find any parking. One time I had went in to get my to-go order and found out why it took so long to get it. They pull the people "ordering and staying in the restaurant" to the side and grab their order. Even if the next person behind me was staying in the restaurant, when they finished ordering at the side, they just slide in front of me and pay. Once I waited 20 mins just to pick up my order and it was ridiculous. If it wasn't for my family to like their milk tea, I wouldn't be coming here. read more

This place is filthy. Seems like they mop the floor but literally don't clean anything else. The walls and booths are both nasty. My first set of utensils were not clean either. Service is mediocre at best. Food is alright but I'd rather go somewhere with some standards of cleanliness read more

I wish I had a 3.5 star option. I don't want it to be a 3, so 4 it is. The food is good, well, most of the time. I love their biryani, as against the North and South Indian biryanis available in most of the Indian restaurants (where chilli powder dominates all other flavors). Shalimar's biryani is more subtle and flavorful for me. Chicken biryani is more or less consistent. Now goat biryani, is another story. If you are lucky you will get an awsome biryani with tender goat meat and all other time you will be fighting stubborn meat from not so tender goats. The curries are always tasty, but lot of oil on the top for you to pour away. The kebabs are always well cooked, made with good quality meat. Their sheekh kebabs are always tasty, juicy and on the spicier side. The naan is huge. One naan is more than good for 2 adults and a kid. Their Haleem. Its good. Please don't expect the taste of the rich Hyderabadi haleem. It is more in line with home cooked Pakistani haleem. Lighter, with a different flavor but yum nevertheless. Tastes good as such or with naan. Not a fan of their rice. I find it a little dry for my taste. Ambience is similar to a regular eatery you can find in busy market streets in Indian subcontinent. Don't expect any frills. And wash room is not very clean too. I prefer to get the food to go than eat there. Its almost always busy, which says a lot about their food. Most of the time hits, sometimes miss. This place gives me the vibe of a busy desi street or wedding. Busy, noicy with that inviting aroma of kebabs. Will be back for more of it. read more

The food here has deteriorated over the past year and so. We just wanted to give another try. Ordered Nihari and Aloo Keema, absolutely no taste whatsoever. These guys still operate with the mentality that they are back home. No concept of customer service or politeness. Coming here to eat it's like they are doing you a favor. Food is ok but highly inconsistent. Not beyond them to slip you day old naan on your to go order. You can tell they are in it to make money mostly and not to retain customers. Place is filthy at all times. Again back home mentality where Health code doesn't matter. Just avoid this place. Try Karimi in San Jose. read more
