    Amazing, UNBELIEVABLY GOOD Baklava

Hands down the best Baklava EVER!!!! I cannot recommend it enough. The baklava is DELICIOUS . So fresh, not too sweet, just PERFECT. It is the first place we visit when we hit San Diego thank you for maintaining the authenticity of Iraqi baklava. We will always be your loyal customers. Please keep your standards high !!!

    Borma baklava

I was really disappointed with there prices specially with cookies called briqus I paid $28 dollars plus tax for that I used to pay $16 dollars last year why they pump the price from $16 to $23 .and it has 40 peice exactly that means is 60c a peice this is away to much and I buy 4 of borma baklava is about $1.50 a peice total comes $28.90. I will not recommend this place to anyone

For anyone wondering how to order. You can choose as much or as little as you want. They charge by weight. Most people seemed to be ordering large boxes worth. We got 5 different items with 12 items total and it came to about $11. We got jalebi, 3 types of pistachio baklava and 1 type of walnut baklava. The jalebi tasted like it was made awhile ago, kinda stale. 1/5 2 of the 3 baklava weren't that crisp. Soaked up too much syrup and were kinda soggy. 1/5 The best things we got - were really delicious. The classic layered baklava. Both pistachio and walnut. They were really nicely done. So crisp, good amount of nuts. A little too sweet though. 4.5/5 Really way too sweet though so I definitely over ordered for the 2 of us. I also saw people commenting on the service lacking. I didn't have a bad experience. It just seemed more like the personality of the ladies working were quite serious but the person that helped us once it was our turn was nice and patient and answered all questions we had. I know they're popular for the birds nest but they didn't have it when we were there. So I have to go off of what we had. And overall it was 3.5

I advise everyone to order From Shakira's sweets, I have always gotten a unique, delicious and healthy cake. For many years, I have relied solely on this place for all my occasions and I always impress my guests with the distinctive taste of Shakira's cake. Thank you for always being at the highest level of my trust

A coworker brought some baklava from this place with a cream filling. Does anyone know the name of this amazing dessert?

It depends on what she bought ... that will determine the creme filling.

I'm pretty sure I've eaten their sweets - I just don't remember the old shop's name. Habibi Sweets, on the other hand, with their assortment of baklavas and Turkish Delights gave me a teasing taste of one of their more popular confections. My order included two rolled green-colored baklavas, One Almond dough pastry brimming with nuts and seeds, a coconut.TD, and for the pièce de résistance, this dark red Rose Petal Turkish Delight that was to die for! I remember my foray into chewy Turkish delights 25 years ago and this one was beyond delightful! Plus, it's non-GMO and Gluten-free! And there's more! The friendly staff, namely Zina gave me a small free box of even more assortment of baklavas to try which will surely be shared with my family.

Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Also just so everyone is aware they're also liars just to mention & stupid.. she tells us her name is Karen thinking we don't know the owners name lol .. She was at the register at 7:20pm and was extremely rude and dismissive after we placed our order, especially regarding a child's dietary restrictions and health concerns. We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

We ended up going with the chocolate and chocolate chip butter cookies, it was incredibly rich and hit the spot. We also tried the Nutella bread pudding, and the flavor was just amazing. A few heads-up: * Parking: It's virtually non-existent, so give yourself some extra time to circle the block. * Service: The owner and the staff are super friendly and welcoming, even with the crowd. Ever since the word got out, the line is usually wrapped around the corner. Pair this with the tasting sessions, and you could be waiting upwards of an hour for your gelato. That was the case with me and my unnamed partner this past Sunday at 4 o clock in the evening. A nice worker named Jae was kind enough to give out samples to those waiting in line, which I thought was a nice touch! And the workers are very knowledgable about the flavors and how they are produced. Is the gelato so good that it's worth the possible hour long wait? Maybe to some. If you aren't booked or pressed for time, I'd say give this a shot! My favorite flavor of the month is the illustrious Canvas, which was Olive Oil and Rosemary flavored, with an optional sprinkling of Black Sea Salt. The building has props that feel like a dry cleaning business, which is cute. All in all, a good experience, but dress accordingly if you decide to wait.
