I ordered dessert and two birthday cakes for my twin daughters and paid in full in advance, with a receipt confirming everything. The order was supposed to be ready for pickup at 2 PM on Sunday. I sent my mom to pick everything up and bring it to the party. When she arrived, they told her there were no cakes and no record of my order. Two cashiers started blaming each other--each one claiming they didn't take the order. My mom FaceTimed me while I was at the party with guests already arriving (this was around 4 PM, well past the pickup time). I spoke to the cashier who originally took my order--she remembered me--but then claimed they had misplaced the order and there were no cakes. They told us to come back in an hour so they could remake everything. I asked for at least the desserts since the party was already set up and we were only missing the dessert table and cake. Instead, they made my mom wait another 30 minutes just to get the desserts--and even then, the order was incorrect. I had ordered 10 cups of kishkish, but they only gave 8. When I called to ask, they initially insisted they gave 10. I had to FaceTime them to show proof because they were accusing me of lying. Then they changed their story and said they gave 8 larger cups instead. My husband returned an hour later to pick up the cakes while guests were waiting--very embarrassing. The cakes we finally received had different fillings than what I originally ordered, but at that point we had no choice. Throughout this entire experience, the staff was rude and dismissive. Not once did anyone apologize or take responsibility. They made it seem like the mistake was ours. I would strongly advise against ordering from here for any special occasion. Very disappointed in the customer service that I received today it was terrible, rude and disrespectful. There was only one person in front of me when I walked into the store and the lady behind the counter after she got done ringing him up a few people walked in and basically cut the line and she didn't even acknowledge me and she continued to ring people up after the second person she helped. I finally decided to go up to her so that hopefully she'd acknowledge me that I've been waiting patiently I asked a question and then told her I was ready and knew what I wanted. I proceeded to walk to the item and she did not follow me. She continued to ring people up and have me stand there two more people after me and the third person which is now five total told her that he would be happy to wait because he knew I was ahead of him and acknowledged that what she was doing was rude and disrespectful. She shook her head no and said that it was OK and continue to ring him up at that point I walked out outraged and upset of how rude this lady was. I was a big fan of this place, but I will no longer ever come back here again as long as she's working there and I will never recommend anyone to come here either. If you see this lady just keep driving and go somewhere else you don't deserve to be disrespected when you're a paying customer. read more

We have pre ordered our birthday cakes here for the past 4 years. Delicious grand and beautiful work! When have you ever had a birthday cake completely gone before the party ended?, No leftovers! Cakes are so delicious; the birthday cake gone, before our guest were. I Would definitely recommend! just make sure you have plenty of pre order time. I Gave 4 stars because their prices have gone up so much; they have almost doubled .. So we do not use them as much as before; Also the pre-ordering takes longer as they are busier. read more

It was my first time at Royal Sweets today and I am definitely coming back. It smells amazing in the store! So many fresh, homemade baklava choices. They also have rolled ice cream, smoothies and beautiful cakes. We asked about one of the baklava's and the employee gave us a sample to try. It was still warm from just being baked, and it was so so so so good. The people are nice, the baklava is the best, and the freshest I've ever had. We were going to have the rolled ice cream, but we are saving it for next time. We will go back!! read more

Food: First off, I will say that the place looks really fancy and the desserts follow suit. So many cool little deserts and lots of pistachios, which my wife really likes. Okay, so... we ordered a tray, looked really good, but when we tried it, something was... off. I am not sure what it is really. My wife and I both LOVE bhaklava and we have tried many from different places around east county, but for some reason, this one was a little UNsweet or perhaps something in the pistachios...? Whatever it was, all of the desserts we got tasted a little off. Someone please help me confirm if you taste the same thing... Service: The lady that served us was so sweet, she reminded me of a grandmother that wants you to taste all of the things she has baked for your family! Smile from ear to ear, gave us a few samples of the gelato and some cream cheese pastry she just finished. Really sweet lady. Price: It's a little pricy, but if it's good, I always say that it is worth it. However, like I stated above, the taste was a little "off". We would rather have had a pre-packaged assortment from another store... Atmosphere: It's cute inside but a little empty on some of the shelves. I dunno, if you don't have enough desserts made, that's fine... decorate the shelves with something so it doesn't look like you have a lack of food. I dunno, just a comment. I have been to many Baklava places in SD and outside SD and this place is really good. The quality is higher end in terms of baklava, but the selection is as good as it gets. They typically carry more individual kinds of baklava than any other places in SD. Their mussel baklava is my favorite, but they are all solid. Idk about the gelato and that seems to be whats gotten bad reviews here. But, I don't go here for ice cream, I go for baklava, and its on point. read more

I LOVE coming to this sweet shop! Baklava, crepes . . . So good! Mirna ---- the owner, is very sweet. She really took care of me. The crepe was delicious, and the baklava was (as usual) delicious. They make it fresh here, so it's still hot. Most other places order them from somewhere else, so it comes from a box. Royal Sweets makes it so hot and fresh. They have the best I've ever tasted. I came for the jalebi. It is made differently from the Indian version (wheat flour instead of chickpea flour) but it brought back childhood memories. The sales person also gave us free samples of kunafa. The baklava is delicious. Definitely worth the visit. read more

I have passed this place too many times before, and my family and I decided today would be the day to check it out. We finally built the courage to try out the store and Wow have we missed out on such a hidden gem!!! Mirna (the owner) greeted us as we came in and quickly welcomed us answering our never ending questions of what the differences were between the sweets and what their native names were to what each of them cost. She did not shy in giving my family samples of her incredibly well crafted and tasty sweets, and made it a wholesome and worthwhile experience. Now the sweets, we left with a box of assorted baklava and half a pound of datlis. Baklava in general is a delicacy, and it is one that Mirna has mastered. The ingredients to make them can quickly become costly. However, Mirna has created truly amazing sweets at an affordable price. These sweets easily will become a nice treat for the family. And could also easily be a wonderful gift to give someone. We were truly impressed by this place and glad that we took the chance and were treated more than well. read more

No signs showing a description of what items are ... the most nauseating thing I've ever seen is when I ordered Gelato the girl had the ice cream scoop sitting in brown water and she kept dipping the scoop inside that brown dirty water while she got different scoops of Gelato.
