The bread bakery was small but efficient with their space to display fresh traditional "pan dulce" and other baked items. The place has trays and tongs to grab baked goods. Once you're done, you pay for the items. I got about a dozen variety items from the shelves and we tried many of their baked goods. Many items were good such as a gingerbread type flat cookie with sugar. It was very crunchy n satisfying. We a couple items were simply ok like a stuffed turnover type triangle with a sweet frosting inside. The frosting inside tasted like Betty Crocker frosting from the shelves of Food For Less. We took a bite and stopped eating it. The palmier buns are well made and delicious. The staff was not talkative and I sort of felt like I was bothering them. It was not crowded in the store so I doubt it was due to being busy. This place has some good qualities, but I've been to other panaderias in Mid-City and in Logan Heights. I like that this bakery opens early in the morning. They have the traditional pan dulces. They also sell mini pan dulces which were so cute. Perfect for kids. Today I tried the apple empanada and it was the best one I've had. The crust was crispy and buttery around the edges and soft in the center. The apple filling had the right amount of sweetness. This family run Mexican Bakery is small but they are putting out some pretty good baked good. I picked up a few items, including a straight out of the oven croissant, a cuernito at .60, a Magdalena de maiz muffin at .60, and several small cookies which were .25 a piece. I don't remember what the croissant cost, but it was not much. The croissant was piping hot when I received it. I ate it as soon as I got home and it was still warm. As a result, the croissant was very moist and soft and had a terrific buttery flavor. It was very good eating. The cuernito needed to be heated for about 30 seconds in the microwave. With the added heat, it was soft and moist but not as buttery as the croissant. It was denser too yet great to eat with a cup of coffee as I did. Magdalena had a good and had a sweet corn flavor and was moist at room temp. The cookies were nice too. They had a slight crunch and were soft inside. I liked the one with the crushed walnuts on top. The lady working the bakery was patient and nice while worked on making up my mind and answering a few questions I had. read more

We have been going to get pan dulce from here for years! We love their bread! It's a family run panaderia. They are very sweet and accommodating. My sister had a potluck and we asked for two dozen conchas & they were baked fresh. They are so fluffy! They were mixed but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the others since they were put in boxes and taped closed. Forever my favorite. read more

AMAZING bread!!! Reminds me of the drives to TJ bringing back thst OG Mexican style bread - minus crossing the border with long waits & possible inspection before the 2hr drive back to LA. All the bread is worth the drive & pricing is much more than reasonable. Hopefully 1 day she'll raise those prices so she can takea vacation. I visited this shop Monday afternoon around 2:30 to see about having a cake made for my daughters birthday 3 weeks away. All i was offered was a book of cakes/designs similar to what you would find in a shop that sells ice cream cakes. I asked 3 times to verify they couldn't offer any other designs, and she said no. I'm disappointed because all the images share here on yelp are of cake done using fondant and look nothing like the cake designs offered to me. I didn't leave one star because the shop was clean and the lady greeted us when we came in. We did not purchase any pastries so i can not rate how they taste. read more

Today is my first time at Sarah's Bakery. It is somewhat of a hidden place near Paradise Hills/Spring Valley. There is a lot of parking within the plaza (it is located at the same plaza as the KFC/Taco Bell). However, the actual place itself is quite small and the sign looks a bit outdated. The pastries that we ordered were delicious, but my mom and I were hesitant to buy the cookies because they were as hard as rocks. The customer service was okay, Sarah (I believe the woman working at the time was the owner), did not look too pleased at all to see us and she was rudely tapping her fingers in a hurry as my mom was gathering the money to pay for our pastries. Overall, the location of Sarah's Bakery is convenient for anyone who lives in Paradise Valley/Spring Valley and there is enough parking. The pastries are affordable. I am very happy with the outcome of my son's cake!!! I called in inquiring about a cake i want to customize for his birthday 3 weeks before and they were all so helpful over the phone. Claudia even continued communicating with me to make sure all my questions were answered. I did not even need to go to the bakery in person to close up my order. Claudia was very nice and professional. She made sure she had all the details right and even called me the night before the cake was needed to insure me that it will be ready the next day. Having not so good experiences with other bakeries in my area I was kind of nervous how the cake will turn out... the cake was AMAZING!!! it was everything we wanted and more. This bakery is ok. 2nd time here and their pan dulce is ok to good. I thought it would beat Mi Familia's but it's about the same. They do have a bigger variety though,which is nice. Not all bread is good. I didn't like their cerditos. I'll come here if it's convenient otherwise not necessarily worth the trip over. I have not tried the cake mostly just the sweet bread. read more

Amazing! Sarah made my cake for my baby shower last march. I sent her a few different pictures and she was spot on. I'm so picky and my cake was perfect!! Not only that but she delivered it herself because I was running late the day of my shower. Now that is customer service. She was such a nice person. Wow! The Mexican sweet bread or pan dulce at Sarah's is delicious. The aroma that enters your nose and hits your pleasure senses as soon as you walk in are amazing... lol I have never really been into sweet bread but i will occasionally have some. But since having tried Sarah's i think i have gone back once a week! They have all the favorites; cochitos, enpanadas, conchas, and oh so many more to chose from. The last time i went i bought maybe 5 or 6 ( not all for me of course...lol) and it was around 3 bucks super inexpensive. Definitely worth every pennie and then some just don't tell them that haha. I recommend you go and try out their bread it's a little hidden but worth seeking out. read more
