This is typically a stop when we go to the Fashion Mall. Over the years, I've never tried the burger. Since they had a gluten free bun, I finally decided to try. I'm going to break down the pros/cons of the visit and venture down an area I don't usually have to. This is a pick up/delivery location only with limited parking for pick up. We had food delivered to us at a hotel a few blocks away. The Thai tea milkshake was packed in with the hot food, so it was melted. They also forgot to put a straw and napkins in the bag so that was frustrating as heck. I was back in the area and wanted to try the mew Korean BBQ burger and well the fries too. Wow the price has creeped up all in burger fries and deink $18.00 so was hoping it was as good as it looked. Well not sure what a Korean BBQ burger and fries should taste like. I can tell that they're trying their darndest to make the best out of a chaotic situation. This Shake Shake is located in the food court of the Keystone Fashion Mall, so a) you know it's going to be busy because it's in a mall, and b) this is one of the only three Shake Shacks in central Indiana. Yes, it's very busy all the time. But they are also working very hard to get the orders out quickly, and they actually have a line set up with someone attending it to manage all the chaos. And there are touch screens where you can order, as well as the option to order from a person at the register, so once you get in line, it isn't as horrible as you think it will be (or as horrible as I thought it would be). Considering how many people were there ordering and dining in and whatnot, it probably only took me 15 minutes from the time I got in line until I got my to-go order. This time, I got the chicken sandwich, which is great. It was assembled a little slap-dash, but that didn't bother me too much. It still tasted great. The crinkle fries are always good. The restaurant is accessible from the mall proper. If you try to go in from their street entrance, you'll find out that you can't. We went in specifically for the Hot Ones menu and got a burger and chicken sandwich. The Hot Ones sauce was applied sparingly. The heat is very forward and then dies down. It's safe and good. The crinkle fries we got were plain, and delicious. The problem is the New York price point. $60 for the three of us to eat lunch. After a long work week, I decided I'd head over to the Fashion Mall to check out Central Indiana's latest Shake Shack, a New York-based chain that only entered our market this year with its first spot up in Fishers. This spot is located inside the Fashion Cafe in the spot that previously housed Tesla and directly next to a now vacant spot that was Shapiro's. While I think most people have heard of Shake Shack, for those not in the know this is basically considered one of the better burger joints. I'd probably call it fast food at fast casual pricing, though the food is probably just a notch above actual fast food. I will admit that I'd been a little underwhelmed at the Fishers spot and I was anxious to try this location. In my opinion, this location is warmer and a little more inviting. They had quite a few employees working and the hospitality was on high. As you enter, there's a set of kiosks where you can order if you're paying by credit card or you can go straight forward and order at a cash register. They had two registers and both were steady though not quite seeing the overwhelming crush that the Fishers spot saw in its opening days. I decided to order at a kiosk. The kiosk set-up is surprisingly wheelchair friendly and at a decent level. The menu is very logical and easy to use. I will admit I'm typically a service kind of guy, but I do like this convenience. They take your name and number and then they text you (and call your name) when the order is ready. I ordered a double burger with crinkle-cut fries and a large iced tea. I only had to wait a few minutes and I was also pleased that an employee offered to carry the tray. The layout is pretty relaxed. There's rows of tables on both sides of the dining room with the kiosks in the middle. I wouldn't say the tables are super wheelchair-friendly, though they're not bad and they are at a good height. You can get your condiments, napkins, and straws at a small area by the pick-up spot. I've still never figured out if they do refills on drinks and it does seem like the layout lends itself toward more of a quicker dining experience. This is more relaxing than Fishers, at least to me, because the spacing is better, there's also seating out in the mall, and the acoustics are considerably better here. It's still fairly loud, but it's much more tolerable. I enjoyed the meal. It came in at about $13 - the burger was delicious. The fries were tasty and the drink was solid. I'd say the burger is in the Steak n' Shake range, at least before the current owner completely tanked Steak n' Shake's quality. I would easily return here and because this is a mall there's ample accessible parking, automatic doors, and overall the wheelchair friendliness is very high here. They had a couple kiosks that weren't operational yet and you could tell that folks are still learning, but this was a solid experience and a better meal and better customer service than I experienced at Fishers. I'd say that Fashion mall easily has the best food court type setting in Central Indiana and the addition of Shake Shack is a definite home run for this mall. read more

It was dark outside, I was making a quick return in The Fashion Mall, and I'd been craving a burger for weeks. When I walked by Shake Shack, I had to try it. I walked up to the counter and was the last customer of the day - yay! I ordered the ShackBurger and fries. The burger came with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce (similar to Thousand Island dressing). It was delicious! The fries were crinkle cut; nice and crispy. There were screens for customer ordering, as well as about ten booths for dine in. The only reason that I knocked off a star was because there were lots of crumbs and fries on the floor, but they were about to close, so I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt. I hadn't had Shake Shack since eating at one in Las Vegas several years ago, but the chain has made its way to Indianapolis so I thought I'd try the shakes this time! While they were very busy, things moved along pretty quickly and we had our shakes in no time. It was close to Christmas when we ate here, so each of us tried the three flavors of the holiday shakes on the menu and all agreed they were probably some of the best shakes we've had. This was my first time to shake shack. We were going to be in the area so we went to the fashion mall. We had to wait in line you either can order at the kiosk or a person we chose the person. But when you walk up you can't see the menu so you have to stand way back to read what you want. I seen the sign that said black truffle burger so that's what I got $8.79. My husband got the shake shack burger $8.49 and we both got fries because they don't come with the burger there an extra cost $2.99. Both got a drink our bill under $33.00. My burger was very good but the fries were just crinkle cut salty fries. My husband burger was supposed to have lettuce tomato and special sauce on it and it just came burger and cheese. I wanted to like Shake Shack much more then I actually did. We were at Keystone at the Crossing and in a hurry, so we stopped in for a quick carryout order. I like the streamlined ordering system, which I used for our order, but you can still order from a human being. My husband and I both ordered chicken nuggets, fries, and chocolate/vanilla ice cream cups. The service left a lot to be desired. Every staff member seemed like they would be happier if everyone left. And little care was put into packing our order. One of the lids on the ice cream cups fell off when the guy was getting it out of the freezer and he just put it in the bag. Then, when we got to our car on the other side of the mall, we realized we had no spoons. Were we supposed to get those on the restaurant? I didn't see them. For a carryout order I would've expected them to be in the bag. The food was fine. It was hot. The breading fell off the chicken nuggets, so if you tried to take a bite instead of eating a whole nugget, you'd lose the breading from the second bite. But the flavor was fine. The fries were very salty, but also fine. The ice cream was decent. It wasn't the experience we were hoping for, that's for sure. I thought Shake Shack was supposed to be great, but it just wasn't awesome, and that was disappointing. Nothing great about the burgers or fries BUT they offer a gluten free bun and that is a WIN for me. And the GF bun is only an extra one dollar. Lots of places it is is two dollars. Those dollars add up over the years. The fries here aren't guaranteed GF as they might have cross contamination in their production BUT that is better than most other fast food restaurants that coat the fries with gluten. So far I haven't had issues eating the fries here. One thing that really bothers me about Shake Shack - self ordering at a tablet. So detached. This Shake Shack is located where Shapiros Delicatessen was inside Keystone at the Crossing Mall. There was a little line and it went fast!! You can order on the app, on the tablets they have set up or at the counter. It tasted great and ask for the shake shack sauce it's good with the fries! They also have seasonal milkshakes for the holiday season. I like how they have nice to - go bags that have handles! I'm so happy to have a more convenient Shake Shack location near me! My wife and I tried the Chicken Bites with Shack Sauce, fries, and Chicken Shack. As for the food, everything was fresh and hot when I opened it at home. The fries were crunchy and delicious, the chicken bites also have a good crunch, but lack a little flavor and are SUPER greasy. The Shack Sauce is also lacking as it tastes more like mayo than a flavorful aioli. The Chicken Shack was perfect and the garlic herb mayo is amazing! I wish there was a little more to it. The only time I had to interact with a person was when my name was called less than 4 minutes later! I got our tray and it was full of cheesy goodness. A single bacon and a double bacon cheeseburger one cheese fries, one bacon cheese fries. I still take issue with the cost, as a meal for two was $31 (not including drinks), so it's not a meal we frequent. But def a nice treat when possible. We ordered our food on a kiosk and it was ready within 7minutes. I love when the managers come out and check on the Customers while eating. Just to do a check to make sure food is to your liking.
